Hello, First of all I will introduce myself. I am a married 21 year old that is having a hard time loosing weight. Right now I weigh 159 and I am 5'6. I went up to 170 and lost a couple of pounds. I need motivation and ideas to help me along the way. I used to never have a hard time loosing weight. I weighed around 130 all my life up to the age of 20. Once I turned 20 it all started going down hill for me. I gained over 30 pounds the year I got married. Right after the wedding I started getting into bad habits, not working out and thinking it was alright. Now I really want to do something about my weight. I don't fit in any of my clothes anymore. I had to buy some new ones but I hate doing that because most of the stores I like, now I am in a large/extra large.

I have looked everywhere for a board club that is approx my weight but they are either below me or above me. So I thought I would make a club for those who weigh are around 170 - 150.

I was thinking we can help each other set goals, give pointers, recipes and ideas and most importantly loose weight. :)

I will try to post daily or as often as I can.

So please join me in the challenge of loosing weight!

Hey Joelle! Haha, we have the same name! :) I feel you on the 170's part. I weight 168 right now and am looking to eventually be back at 140. No lighter for me. I find being really skinny really unattractive. I like having some curves. Besides, no point in fighting my body type! How have you stated out with this weight loss thing? I keep on doing good for a few weeks than falling off the band wagon, usually by stopping my work outs! Happy losing!
haha Hey Joelle! Cool! We have the same name. :)

First of all welcome to the board and joining me and cukimber!

The hardest part I find is the working out! I am super bad for that! I used to be alright but now I am alone at home and I never feel like working out alone. I used to live with girls all my life and now that I am married and a stay at home house wife I find it really hard to get motivated in the working out section!

I used to be on and off. I am still like that for working out. Thats why I need this board to keep me going. I'm hoping that we can give eachother ideas for stuff like this to keep us going.

I'm doing ok for the calorie counting part. The work out part no..not doing that great. I need to step up to that part.  How about you? How are you doing?

One thing I find that really helps me is writing in the journel section. Then anyone who is your friend can leave you encouraging comments and tips. :)

Holywow. We are like twins. I'm 5' 4" (and three quarters) and ~153, although my highest was 180 before I realized I needed to come down. I saw your profile and you have great goals, nearly identical to mine, AND I have a bitch of a time getting myself to work out. =P I want to be 130 by summer!

Keep in touch I tell you! Tagging this board...

Hey welcome to the board feanor! Ya, thats pretty cool that we have the same goals and are around the same weight, height. lol.

I'll add you as a friend so we can post in each others diet journals. :)
guys, im down too.  started this past sat at 170.  gained abt 15 lbs since 6 months ago from eating everything and stopping going to the gym.  been on track so far, only missing yesterday at the gym.  let's do, girls!  !!
Glad to have you join us! We can really do this! I know because we all looked like we had done it before!! :) So whats stopping us now? I mean we have allot of support already! Good job on going to the gym! That really helps speed things up!

Today so far I haven't eaten anything yet. I find I am really bad for morning breakfast. I don't have any ideas on what to eat. I like really bad stuff like pancakes and maple syrup lol..so its tough to just have a bowl of cereal. Any ideas on what I can eat in the mornings?

I decided I am going to really clean my house well today, do some of my stepper and do some fun sit ups again! I need to get going as well! It's really encouraging to see you guys working out! I know I can do it too!

I was just chatting with feanor and we were thinking of making a board of 1300 cals..I was just wondering how many calories are you all allowed to eat? I can try and make something up so we can give each other ideas of snacks and different meal plans. Let me know what you all think.

I'm a little less than 5'8" and weigh between 163 to 169 at any given time.

I have more detailed stats in my journal but I've had really no weight loss since starting here in September.  I was really dissappointed for a while but recently I've been taking my measurements every month and calculating my body fat content with this site.  BMI has always been really off for me and this seems much more realistic for people with a larger bone structure.

Hey guys! I'm a little over the "weight limit" at 182 but I would also like some support so I was wondering if I could join in! I'm 23 and I've been married to my husband for about 6 months now. We are both trying to get into shape ... him just getting fit so that he is able to run the Houston Half Marathon, and me trying to lose some SERIOUS weight! I just started this thing today ... so hopefully things will work out and I can also get some support!!

:)

Awesome! haha, i grew up showing Hunter/Jumper in Texas for 5-6 years, i moved back to Nova Scotia and rode Dressage for 4 years or so, and I sold my 2 horses when I left Texas, i bought a dressage mare in NS but sold her when i moved here to Ontario to go to school. I just ride Western when im home for fun now because I have bursitis in both hips from riding actually and i wont be able to show or anything for months...what about yourself?? :)

Been riding in Texas for over 10 years.  Started with a hunter/jumper instructor but moved on to Dressage with a bit of Eventing here and there.  My mom teaches dressage and shows locally.  Now I moved from Houston to Austin for school so I'm half-leasing one of my trainer's horses and riding dressage.  I don't show too much.  Bad experiences in the past.  My mom was a bit of a stage mother for a while.  I rode western for a while to make some money during high school: barrels, roping, cutting, etc.
Joelle, you're so pretty...

I'm not ready for this group... but I'm striving towards it...  I'll keep in your Mother/Daughter forum...

:-)
Hey ladies, My name is Genny, I'm 21, 5'6" 170+ (refuse to weigh lol) right now, up from 135. Blahhh!!!! Count me in!!

I'm in the SAME boat. I used to be around 130 (give or take) and got to 170 at my highest. I'm down to 159 right now too!

I've been working out really well lately and I find I sleep better, and then have more energy the next day!! So, definatly get to working out!! Once you start doing it regularly you'll get into a routine, and it won't be such a struggle to actually get up do it!

Also, you mention 1300 cal. Right now my goal intake is 1600, and I have already lost 3lbs in the 1st week since counting my calories again. Maybe you arn't getting enough calories? And don't forget you will need more cal on days you do workout. I sometimes get near 2000cal on my workout days, but always try to maintain a 500 cal deficit by burning 2,500cal or more.

Good Luck All!!

How is everyone doing today? Anything interesting in the C-C realm? =D

I actually have a question about lent:

For the past three years during lent, I would always drop all meat from my diet and fast on Fridays (this year I switched to Thursday because I ride for several hours on Friday).

How much do you think the fasting effects my metabolism?  I do eat after sunset but unfortunatly I don't wake up before sunrise to eat.  I don't binge at night and I keep hydrated during the day and usually drink several juices or powerade.  Any thoughts?

There was actually a story on the news here a few days ago about the benifits of an occasional fast! I found it!! Here ya go:

http://www.wfaa.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/he althsciencetv/stories/wfaa080204_ac_fasting.8 ce2cac3.html

"After years of being told to eat many small meals a day to rev up the metabolism, research shows giving it a one day rest, once a week or once a month -- may also be beneficial.

Research shows depriving the body of food -- for 24 hours, drinking only water -- can give the heart arteries and pancreas a rest.

"If you're able to fast all day long, except for water, and reduce your insulin secretion," says Baylor University Medical Center Dr. Brian Welch. "There may be some metabolic advantage to that as long as it's not followed by binge eating.""
