Anyone in this grouping looking to drop from 140 to 130's. We can all use support. Today I am focusing on all the food groups. Exercise would be good, but I won't be able to since I am working from 9 to 10:30. A Super long day. I hope I can stay focused, when I pass the fast food chaines on my travels today.
ttea - I completely understand. Don't know if you saw my post
yesterday... I haven't lost a pound and I am eating anywhere from
1100-1400 / day with workouts every other day. It can be so frustrating
and your first thought is to quit because nothing will work. I think
it's good to read some other posts today. Even though it seems cruel -
find positive posts that talk about successes and realize you are no
different from everyone and you can and deserve to lose too.
I think when something like this happens, you have to change something. I'm not sure what - change the typs of food for 7 days, change your workout to add a little more cardio, up your water intake. I'm no PRO that's for sure! But these were my thoughts yesterday when the scale betrayed me too.
:) Hang in there... I was going to add you to my friends list... I see you don't have a profile yet?

Hey JD :-) - I got your friends invite and accepted - thanks! The pep talk has worked and I already feel better. I've decided to leave work early and hit the gym before the cocktail hour and try to have just one glass of wine. I'll watch my dinner calories to make up for it.
I'm known to my friends as a girl who loves her evening cocktails so having water would make me look quite suspect! I'll just have to sip one slowly.
I will update my profile soon...those things always make me feel self-conscious, so I have to put some time into it.
Thanks again and I'll check in later! TT

you crack me up... my friends would say the same thing! Sipping one
glass of wine all night STINKS when you'd rather be sampling the
martini menu!
You can do it. Light at the end of the tunnel... reward at the end of the rainbow and all that garbage. I say "better sex life, smaller butt, cuter clothes!"

mcrouch - I just got your friend invite! It's so encouraging when you know your not the only one struggling, isn't it? I just keep reminding myself that when summer rolls around I can show off my new bod in a cute swim suit or a nice tank top that is actually flattering and doesn't make my curves look like I'm a big potato sack.
I'm stuck at 141-143 and I can't get rid of it! The first few weeks the weight just dropped like crazy and now.... I'm getting frustrated! So, my sister and I joined the Discovery Health Challenge and got a free 8-week membership to Bally's. I'm determined to up the ante to get to my goal!
jenniferdiane - Great motivation tips!! I need to add that to my list of motivators to get me to the gym and not eat that last cookie... better sex life, can't beat that as a reward.

Ha! I love it! "better sex life, smaller butt,
cuter clothes!" will be my new mantra! Very motivational...
Just read a few of the most recent posts - and it is refreshing to know that there are people out there who are in the same boat as me!
I've made attempts at losing weight for a long time now - but hopefully I can stick with it this time. I'm getting married in June and hope to drop 15+ pounds by then. I am at 139 as of this morning (lost 3 pounds since January 1!!!!) ... my goal is to be between 120-125 by my wedding day.
But alot of you have motivated me - esp knowing that we all have the same struggles (i.e. craving glasses of wine, working out like fiend and still somehow manage to gain weight, ect.)
Thanks :)

Okay, so after yesterday's challenges, I'm quite proud to report that I bailed on the business lunch and hit a spin class before meeting my friend for drinks. I had two (I know I said just one but peer pressure!) gin & tonics over about 2 hours and by the time I got home it was after 10pm so I didn't eat dinner (wasn't even really hungry). Even with the drinks I was under my 1500 calorie budget.
So of course I woke up and ran to the scale. You'll never guess: I GAINED a half a pound!!! I kicked the scale and sulked out of the bathroom. I then realized I had to pee (pardon the potty mouth), so I did and then decided I would weigh myself again...and this time without the PJs. It worked!! One pound less than the reading 3 minutes earlier means I actually DID drop a half pound. Hooray!
I'm stoked for my new Friday night ritual...a lingering evening at the gym and a hot shower before the night starts - keeps me on track all weekend. Good luck to all!

Yeah ttea... I also saw a 1 lb. loss this a.m. Can't let the scale beat you. You KNOW you are working out, you KNOW you are cutting calories! Tht's gotta be better than binging on bad food and sitting around!
Ok recipe to share... Just had this and it was so yummy and satisfying!
Awesome Egg & Cheese Wrap
Scramble in Pam Butter-Flavor Spray: 1 large egg and 1/4 cup Egg Beaters.
Meanwhile, warm 1 La Tortilla Factory Whole Wheat Wrap (60 cals), in the microwave for 15 seconds, spray it with 0 calorie spray butter.
Top eggs with 1 slice Kraft Fat Free Sharp Cheddar Single, turn off heat and place lid on skillet to let the cheese melt.
Place egg / cheese mixture on tortilla, roll into a wrap and enjoy!

Sounds yummy! I'll try it tomorrow! Work lunch was at a diner today, and believe it or not the best option on the menu was a bowl of chili. That just made me feel gross, so I had an 80-cal hot chocolate after the cold walk back to the office. Might as well, right? And now I'm all sluggish and don't feel like going to the gym after all.
But tomorrow is a new day and my fitness evaluation at the new gym. I should get some concrete numbers like body fat %age and strategies for hitting my goals. Better luck tomorrow.
Have a great weekend, all!

hey everyone- i started cal count on jan 1st...did it for a week..lost 2 lbs and kinda slid off. now i'm starting back up again. i'm at 152 5'8'' and i'd like to be at 135-140. This site is motivating! Anyone else lookin to lose about 10-15 lbs?
Hi everyone,
So I posted a few pages back, and I think I said I was at just about 140 pounds (this was just before the holidays). I weighed myself 2 days ago and hit 137 :D
Grande1 - I'm 5'11 and when I joined I was about 152 pounds. That was in October. I've finally lost my 15 pounds, but I'm still looking to drop maybe 5-7 pounds more. I hope to hit that mark my March-ish.
Hope it goes well for ya!

hi everyone - just a monday morning greeting to say good luck for the week.
Let's all post our weekly challenges / goals! I'm feeling frustrated that I haven't lost more. The calculations say I should have lost 2 lbs by now. So I must be figuring my calorie intake or burn wrong somewhere!
I figure a weekly goal / challenge will be a good thing to discuss:
weekly goals:
some form of calorie burn every day
up my daily water intake
lower calories to 1100-1200 each day
weekly challenge:
girls night out Friday (sushi and martinis = one glass of wine & sashimi)
day & night out with my hubby all day Saturday - clothes shopping, lunch, 2 movies and dinner - will be hard to count calories and no time for a workout.

Hey! I'm new to CC and think posting will be a good idea. I've been dieting for a little over a month and I'm also feeling a little frustrated about the lack of weight loss. I've only moved from 142 to 140.
Weekly goal:
-Run 3 miles 3x this week
-Drink more water
Weekly challenge:
-Spending the weekend back home with my family. It will be hard to resist Mom's country cooking.

Hi taramc - welcome to the board. Country cooking - yes, that will indeed be hard. Don't deprive - reduce! Have the yummy food but try smaller portions with lots of water!
My sort of "trick" for being around constant food prep & munchies... chew gum! (Sugarless of course)

i'm close to going to my 140s. Just one more pound to go!
Ok - this may seem silly but I just "discovered" that Microwave Lite popcorn only has 90-120 calories for a whole bag! I have found a way to snack smart (on fiber none the less), satisfy the munchies and not blow my daily calories. It's filling too... Hooray!
Fortunately I have low blood pressure so the sodium isn't a huge factor. Plus the salt makes me thirsty so I drink more water.
I'm now looking forward to the movies this weekend with my hubby (we're seeing 3 movies). It's time for a big purse so I can bring in my own popcorn and water.
Speaking of - I found Fit & Active no sugar lemonade. Yummy! And only 5 caloris per glass. But it does have artificial sweeteners for those of you who don't like them.

I weighed myself this morning and i'm 149.6! yay!
way to go zizi!! Welcome to the 140s! :-)
Well, I haven't checked in in a while because I wasn't making progress, but I've been reading all your posts to stay motivated. The weight still refused to budge, and I even talked with my new personal trainer about it. I could tell he didn't quite believe me when I said I'd been keeping my calories to 1500 per day and working out 4-5 days per week and actually gaining weight. Of course I didn't tell him about 2 days I "fell off the wagon" but even that only entailed slightly more indulgent dinners than usual - nothing that should have derailed my progress.
So I came up with a theory - I'd love all of your thoughts on it. It is well known that you shouldn't drop below 1200 calories per day because your body will go into starvation mode and really hold onto extra weight. If I'd been consuming 1500 per day and burning 600 working out, leaving me with a net of only 900, was I putting my body into that mode?
Yesterday, I ate 2000 calories - including sirloin and a glass of wine at dinner - and did not make it to the gym. This morning I am 1.5 lbs lighter than I've been all week!!
Coincidence?

Hey guys! I'm trickling down from the 150's group--I hope to see some of them soon here too! (148.5 this morning!)
tteaford- its not a coincidence--you are too active, so you need more cals. I have done it to myself before without realizing it! Be diligent about recording your activities in the log as well as your food, because it will give you an idea of what your daily expediture should be--and only drop 500 or so below that. You should start to see some progress.
I can't stress enough that 1200 cals per day is NOT the way to go, unless you are a complete couch potato--your body will sabotage you!

hello! I started calorie count last year and i'm giving it a second go-round, hoping im a little 'wiser' this time! I planned on jumping into this room last week, but little did i know that my weight jumped into the 150's! A number I havent seen in a few years since that number scares me! So thankfully i'm able to enter the 140-130 room THIS week, having lost three pounds between friday and monday. I'm trying to weigh myself once a week to keep myself from being discouraged, so tomorrow will be my first whole week. (Again) lol
