Anyone in this grouping looking to drop from 140 to 130's. We can all use support. Today I am focusing on all the food groups. Exercise would be good, but I won't be able to since I am working from 9 to 10:30. A Super long day. I hope I can stay focused, when I pass the fast food chaines on my travels today.
that other recipe sounds really tasty, too, jen. i like the yogurt idea, too--it would add a nice creaminess to the recipe. i'll have to look at not putting in the whey protein powder. i really don't need any more protein, i just put it in for kicks, i guess :) lol. i love how much fiber the berries pack in cuz of all their seeds. fiber seems to be a constant struggle for me--even with a huge salad for lunch and lots of fruit! but i just made a huge batch of black bean soup, and one serving of that packs in all the fiber for a day! woot! man...that mocha treat sounds SOOOO good....
good luck with the exercising hb! i work out pretty much every day, too. just remember to take it easy if your body starts getting a little burned out though! i like to just do an easier cardio routine on the elliptical with a lower resistance and speed.

Hi Kil - as I think of / use them I'll send along recipes...
I actually really liked the taste of my strawberry protein powder in my smoothies but it seemed like wasted calories!
Tonight is a Pampered Chef party -- all about food! I am restricting myself to small tastes and will eat dinner before going. But still - it's social hour with wine & food.
Here's a great breakfast treat if anyone gets market day...
market day lowfat egg & cheese omelet (60 calories)
La Tortilla brand whole wheat wrap (small size: 50 cals)
1 tbsp. fat free cream cheese (30 cals)
fresh spinach (5-10 cals)
cook omelet in microwave according to directions
spread cream cheese on wrap, add fresh spinach leaves and nuke for 20-30 seconds. Lay in the omelet, fold over (calzone style)
ENJOY!
If you don't get market day, you can substitute a small homemade omelet of egg whites or egg beaters and lowfat cheese.
Great for on-the-go!

I just wanted to say hi to everyone. Hi Jennifer recipe sounds great. Funny I am having a Pampered Chef Party next Friday. Hubby broke one of my stones last month and I need to replace it. :)
hey everyone! I'm relatively new to this site. I'm female, 5'7 and floating around 142-144. My goal weight is 130, and from there, 125 if I feel I can and should do it. I am totally deticated, I just need more people similar to me to help motivate me even more. I've been doing moderate work outs 6 days a week and am still not quite sure how much I should eat. I want to stick with 1200 cal a day, but not sure. Anybody with similar stats as I that have any adivce? The workouts I do are MOSTLY cardio like jogging or elliptical. for around 30-60 min. I'm wanting to reach my 130 goal by the end of March, any advice?
Also, this MIGHT sound gross...but I drink a lot of water so I am constantly having to use the restroom, but NEVER go #2. Maybe one time every other day, sometimes not even that. Can this pack on extra lbs on the scale? Because I have been eating properly, a lot of fiber and all, working out and everything, but the scale isnt changing much. Also, WHAT do I have to do in order to GO 2?? haha...Any vitamins or pills recomended? Thanksss!!

knarik--welcome to the site!
i'll add you to my friends list as soon as i post this. you can read my journal, make comments, whatever if you want to add me to your friends list. if you write in your journal, it's a great way for ppl you connected with on the site to read up on what you're doing and offer tons of support and advice.
as far as intake calories--check out the tools on this site to help you figure out how much you should consume. i'm a little shorter than you (5'5") and i'm 22 and weigh about 146-147 right now. i workout pretty similarly--6-7 times a week, but i throw in three days of strength training on top of regular cardio training. i have a sedentary lifestyle (desk job) so my maintenance without exercise is about 1750 calories--yours will be higher since you're taller. but with exercise, i burn closer to 2000-2100 calories per day, so i usually consume anywhere from 1300-1600 cals/day. but generally not below that. a safe and easily maintainable deficit is usually about 500-750 (just what ppl on this site have found through experience).
Your goal is doable...but COULD be difficult. But 5-6 lbs a month is not too hard if you're disciplined. i can't really help with the #2 problem though, LOL :) I wouldn't worry about it as far as your weight--i doubt that's the solution. It's POSSIBLE (but I'm not guaranteeing) that you aren't losing weight because your body isn't getting enough calories to maintain the level of exercise. But that's just a theory. i'm no expert. so go to tools and calculate your expenditure and allowance calories--based on height, weight, age, gender, activity level, etc. but remember that the allowance does not take into account your exercise--so it's better to calculate your expenditure, take on the calories you burn exercising, and THEN subtract 500-750 calories to figure out what your intake should be.
hope this was helpful! feel free to comment in my journal or here if you ahve any more questions!!!
as far as weigh-in, i do mine on sunday mornings, so i'll post tomorrow morning. i'm hoping for about 145! *crosses fingers*

Hey Kil - way to go!
I am afraid to step on the scale. Between dinners out and social events, not to mention baking for Valentines Day I have slipped "off the wagon" WAY too much.
When I finally get the nerve to weigh myself I will let everyone know what the verdict is.
We leave this coming Friday for LA and I'm supposed to go swimsuit shopping tomorrow!

now don't jump all over me people. b/c I know this site seems to be a super fan of calculating and sticking with only a 500 calorie daily deficit, but-
knarik- I am 5'7'', 24 yrs old, going up and down around 145 for the past couple weeks, and we have the exact same goal-
I want to definitely get down to 130, then see if i want to go down to 125 from there depending on looks and feel.
so, my experience of the quickest way i personally have ever lost weight. (this was a couple yrs ag) i started in mid/late jan, and ended at the beg. of april, my bday, so a little over 2 months, 2 and 1/2. i went from 147 to 128.
i did 1200 calories a day and 1 hour on the elliptical trainer almost every day. other keys- i ALWAYS ate breakfast, and i spread those 1200 calories out into 6 MINI MEALS of about 200 cals each.
if i felt hungry at night (an obstacle of mine) i went to bed.
good luck girl.
ya know what? this is motivating me to be more serious about myself now!

hb--definitely not gonna jump all over you! i usually have a deficit bigger than 500 cals, but getting down to 1200 is hard for me :) heehee.
i'm glad you're feeling more motivated, too!
good luck with the swimsuit shopping jen!!! i'm SOOOOO glad that i have like, 4 months left to lose weight and shape up before i have to think about putting on a swimsuit, LOL. i actually tried mine on last night--and while it looks a little better, it's still none too pretty :) haha. in other news--that 145.5 marker from Sunday means that I have "officially" lost 20 lbs!!!! Started at 165.5 in October. It's also my halfway point!!! Unfortunately, dropping lbs is going to start getting harder *tear*

Hi. I haven't posted in awhile. I'm now 129.0 lbs!!!! I was 153
in October... it's crazy to be this small again! So, I guess. I moved
into another club!!! It's exciting to be doing so well.
So- I wish you all well!!!

Hbbroadbent..
you went from 145-128 in 2-3 months?? THAT IS SO MOTIVATING! I know I can at 1200 cal a day, and i can try to spread my meals out througout the day. I can work out 5-6 times a week, usually wiht just running or elliptical. So if you did that in less than three months, I KNOW I can at LEAST get to 130 in the beginning of may. how much do you burn i one day without working out??

*sigh* i ate a lot yesterday--dinner killed me. still managed to have a deficit (of about 100 cals) but i was disappointed when i did an approximation of my cal intake. oh well. one day off, now back on track!
Hi Kil - I've had plenty of these latey. BUt most days I'm a good girl - and still my scale doesn't like me.
In 5 weeks I have only lost 2 lbs. I am keeping to anywhere from 1100-1500 with approximately a 400 deficit. I workout daily and only 2 lb.s gone???
Trying to stay motivated.

you can do it jen! just hang in there!!! i'm sure you know already--but if you're close to your goal weight or strength training, the pounds might not be coming off as fast as you'd like. what about inches? clothing sizes?
just don't let yourself get discouraged and give up! stick to it. even if the pounds aren't melting off your body the way that you'd like, you are becoming healthier and fitter by working out every day and eating well. at least that's something!

Hey all! I havent weighed myself yet becuase I'm not getting a new scale untill March 1st, and I will update. I was 144. about a week ago. So we will see where I am at two and a half weeks later when I get the new scale! I'm really nervous. Last week I did really well, all week long i had a deficit of 600-900 cals besides one day I think it was only 300. It's monday today and i'm doing well. TOmorow should be fine. the week should be pretty easy untill the weekend i'm going to bakersfield to see some of my old friends and i wont be able to go to the gym saturday or sunday :(. TWO days in a row. I know i'm going to feel like i ruined everything. Does not going to the gym for two days really hurt? I'm going to keep my cals around 1200-1300 those days anyway, well i hope i do. I usually eat a lot when i see them, but i have to TRY TO REFRAIN!!!!!
kiigan-i wanted to say thanks for being so friendly!! You really are so encouraging!!
hbbroadbent-when you lost nearly 20 lbs in 2 and half months, and you were eating 1200 cal a day PLUS exercise, how much did you deficit? Did you ever plateau and go into starvation mode that everyone is taknig about?
I'm eating around 1200-1300 calories and I really want to get to where you were-128. any other advice? THANK so much
