Happy Friday Ladies
I refuse to get on the scale since I've only been to the gym once this week and my sleep eating is rampant again...Meeting up after work with a couple young girls I worked with before I moved to NC...They came to visit me there once in 2004 but I haven't seen them since...
Sherry: sorry I can't help with the clothes situation cause neither of my girls ever gave me any problems about that...LOL and I can't remember back that far either! my "girls" are 25 and 31! I do remember that the older one in her very young years insisted that everything be tucked in, including sweat shirts and pj's! Ouch I hope Scott is doing better. I hear that's very painful.
Soraya: I hope your sister is better too...Man you ladies are having some awful medical problem!
I used to use this site last year all the time but slowly stopped. Well, since then a knee injury, and a really bad foot injury resulted in a 20lb weight gain! So here I am again, weighing 148 and afraid to work out! Oh how fast the mighty do fall!!!!
Holly
Well blew the weekend, but today it's back to work and back on schedule.
Scott passed the kidney stone Friday afternoon, now he's just fine.
hholly- welcome, it's been kinda slow here for the past bit, guess everybody has the back to school rush!! hang in there and take it easy.
It's time for me to really get focused on me.
Sherry~ get yourself back on track woman.
hhollyhal~ welcome to the crew.
Joan~ hope you had a fun reunion with the girls.
I had a pretty good weekend. Friday night hubby and I went out to eat to Corino's, it's a yummy Italian place so I got my pasta fix. Sat. morning I got my 13 mile run in with 3 other ladies instead of just my normal running partner. I was nice to have extra people to talk with on the run. After my run I went to Old Navy they had an awesome sale on kids jeans for $7 each. Hubby and I went to Denny's for brunch, nothing tastes better after a morning run then pancakes and eggs. We did go out to the bar for supper and I did have a few drinks. We must be getting old cause we were home before 11pm.
Today my boyz started kindergarten. I will be walking them to school everyday this week and walking there to pick them up after school. So besides my normal scheduled run I will get another 3 miles of walking in a day. It was cute they were so excited to get to school they even ran part of the way there this morning.
Just want to warn everyone that I am just beginning to come to terms with the limitations of my body, so please excuse me if i sound like a baby! In march I sprained or strained my AchillesTendon while doing yoga, after a long run it started really hurting! After weeks of walking in a boot the dr discovered that I had nerve damage in my foot caused by inflammation of the tendon. I was then diagnosed with rsd, which is a chronic pain condition. After two nerve blocks and lots of pt the pain is minimal, but i dont have feeling in part of my foot, making any weight bearing exercise difficult to say the least. It feels like im walking on a bosu or stability ball all the time. So that is my sob story so bear with me as i try to find a way to workout!
Yesterday i did two 20 min workouts from the in demand channel and am so sore! Why is it the body so quickly forgets what it used to do!
cfeltontufty- I am so jealous!!! I was just getting becoming a running junkie when I injured my foot. Running and yoga were my therapy, but I'm determined to at least do yoga again (my doctor says theres a chance i'll never be able to run).
Hello Dears,
So I have really abandoned this forum lately but I could use some of your advice. I wrote about this in my journal today too but I feel like I have hit my dieting wall. I just have that I don't care attitude about what I eat and I can't seem to shake it. I've been working out a lot 5 to 6 days a week. So I feel better now that I'm working out but now I just need to conquer the eating. So any advice on how to get over the i don't care attitude and eating whatever, and hitting the dieting wall?
hholly: feeling sore always makes me feel good in some weird way unless its really bad of course
cassy: aww 1st day of kindergarten, those were the days! thats great on the extra walking
sherry: i'm with you. its funny how hard it is to focus on yourself. as a mom and wife i can imagine that is way harder.
Well on the bright side I did jog last night, I think a little over 4 miles, so I'm really happy about that, and I have had 2 good days of eating. I will have to learn I think it will always be a day at a time thing for me, honestly I do.
I hope it doesn't rain today so I can jog again, Summer rode her bike while I jogged/walked, I know it's really good for her.
Just trying to get back on track slowly but surely and possibly stay there. These bc pills the doc has given me to shrink the cyst is about to drive me crazy I just feel swelled and bloated and just not myself and they make me want to eat, which of course is not good, I go back to the dr. next week so hopefully it will be gone and I can stop taking them.
Good Morning Ladies
Gotta make this quick, the boss could show up any second.
Lisa: I'm in the same boat as you...exercise is doing ok but the eating is still a big problem....mostly my sleep eating issue, although I'm doing pretty sucky while awake too...Some how we just have to get back with the program.
Sherry: Proud of you for your efforts to stay on track! Atta Girl!
Cassy: I remember taking a bottle of champagne to the bus stop on my daughter's first day of kindergarten! I had a walking partner myself last night, my older daughter! She's a sprinter and I'm distance so she did a lot of waiting for me! When is your next race?
Holly, sorry to hear about the foot! I injured my achilles last summer running on the beach...fortunately a couple months of rest and it healed. Not running must really suc for you. Do you have a bike?
I haven't weighed in awhile so I don't know where I am but my pants are still tighter than I would like. On my way to work I was thinking about how much my body has improved since this time last year but I'm letting things slip a bit too much. I was trying to imagine how good I would look if I was good all this winter...Gonna give it a try.
Joan I'm glad someone else is in the same boat at least! We just have to power through i guess! easier said then done though huh?
I did weigh this morning 144, thought it would be alot worse but it definitely could be better, but ttotm should be hitting anytime I think I have been saying this for like 2 weeks, I think it's those stupid pills got me all messed up.
Summer went to mom's so Scott and I have the night to ourselves!!! Yeah, we are watching tv, having a drink and being lazy.
I did walk last night, 2 miles at the track rotating laps of fast walk and then jog, I got started late and they don't have good lighting but at least it was something at least I was moving.
Had a horrible weekend, foodwise...
I need help before I'm beyond help!
Sorry I've been MIA the last week or so. I have done my best not to lose any ground, ugg it's been a long week and it's not going to get easier. Early last week I was informed that my grandma who health had been failing had kidney dialisis which caused her to have a massive stroke. This put her into an almost veg state. Then we were called yesterday morning, she passed away early yesterday morning.
So this week I am going to be closed for daycare Thur. and Friday. Thur. we have to drive the five and a half hours down for the wake/funeral. Then Friday after the barial we will drive back up for my race on Sat. morning. Before we leave on Thur. I have to find time to get the oil changed on my van, get to the mall and buy a Norweigian flag (small one) to hold with on the run and find a way to get everything packed for us and the camper. Plus I have to get all my runs in this week, thank godness it's a light week 4 miles tonight, 5 tomorrow, probably won't get the 2 miles in on Thur.
Hopefully Sat evening and Sun we can relax at the campsite and next week we can get into a normal relaxing schedule. At least my boyz are getting better about waking up for school. Boy it's been a long week.
Cassy-I'm sorry for your loss! sounds like a crazy week, good luck!
Joan: I'm feeling the same way, I just saw your journal. We have to get our self control back!
I had a not so good food weekend or really workout weekend either. But I'm back to it today. I guess thats about all we can do get over it and try again. So we shall see.
Hope everyone had a little time to relax over the weekend. I'm so sad summer is over! I didn't get to the pool nearly enough!
Cassy: I'm sorry you've had such a wicked week. You have my sincere sympathy for your loss. Hopefully things will improve quickly..
Lisa: I'm really struggling here...
Yesterday I noticed that the leave are beginning to change...It's only the beginning of Sept!!!!! I guess I got used to the long NC summers....Hannah is headed straight towards my house....No amount of Hershey Kisses is going to turn the path of a hurricane so why am I stuffing my face and butt with them????
I think I need to be locked away someplace.
Hi everyone,
Can I join you? I have been about 135 my whole life and since I started my new job exactly a year ago I've gained almost exactly 10 lbs. (I was 144.5 on my digital scale this morning and I'm 5'8"). It's completely my fault - I work long hours and I eat when I'm tired, stressed, frustrated--the usual. But no more. I committed to get back on the normal person eating wagon on Monday and so far so good. I've been eating between 1200-1300 calories every day for the past 4 days with lots of lean protein, fresh veggies and fruit. (breakfast is 4 egg whites with spinach and mushrooms; lunch is a salad with chicken, egg whites, carrots, cucumbers, peas, broccoli and non fat dressing; snack is a high fiber cereal bar and an apple; dinner is chicken, fish or a lean cuisine, with 2 greens on the side and a low calorie frozen desert [my treat for the day]). But I know 4 days doesn't mean anything - I need to go back to my previous eating habits and way of life. The one good thing is that I never gave up on exercise and I still work out 4-6 days a week. I have a long way to go to break all these bad habits I've accumulated over the past year and I'd love some help and support from people in the same situation.
Thanks,
Lauren
peeks in... yup still quiet here... just letting y'all know I am alive.. still fighting the weight... lol..... *sigh* onward and downward right.. being pretty consistent during the week, weekends kill me.. Not exercising except walking the kids to school every morning.. and now i am sick.. YUCK..
I'm here, not doing good, have no good advice right now, had a "mental" breakdown labor day, it was not pretty.......just one of those things, hormones are to blame.....
will be back to post in journal later....
Looks like we all need a good kick in our ever expanding behinds! Ladies what is happening to us? Such apathy....so many excuses....this is just not acceptable!
It's time we stop letting life push us around. Time to take control and show our fat who's the boss!
I will re-lose these 20 re-gained lbs and I will do it quickly! I will eat properly and exercise. I will stop feeling sorry for myself and start being kind to myself and kindness does not include eating crap and lounging in front of the TV...That's gluttony and laziness....I'm a better person than that.
And you my dear Ladies deserve better than what you're giving yourselves, too. What's up with that?
If we're not good to ourselves, nobody else will be either.
My 87 y/o father keeps reliving WWII's "Battle of the Bulge" and I'm don't with reliving mine...This time it has to be for keeps!
Come on Ladies....WE CAN BE THE MASTER OF OUR OWN FAT!
After the last week of running around all over the country side I'm finally home and hopefully can get back into a schedule again. I figured it out in just under 36 hours we put just over 700 miles on the van before my half marathon on last Saturday. I did not break my PR but considering everything in the week before my race I'm not going to make up excuses but I'm not going to be bummed out either. I trained as well as I could, I can see now where improvements can be made and I'm going to move forward and make some of those changes. Starting with a 4 mile run tonight.
Because of the driving, wake, funeral, driving, running, camping, driving...this last week I have not eat the greatest. I will be getting myself back into healthier eating. If nothing else because in late Oct. is my annual physical and I am hoping to see some changes in my cholesterol and other blood levels. The doctor said my good cholesterol was to low, not looking at the fact that my bad cholesterol was just as low. So my goal is to lower the bad even further and lower my total cholesterol down to around 100 (was total 117, good 37, bad 62, tri 78). So it's back to veggies and whole grains, yummy!!!
We can all get off our arses and start to move. Make healthy food choices and clear all of the bad stuff out of the house. We can do this ladies, remmeber one step at a time, one day at a time. Keep the focus foreward and the thought process positive.
Just checking in. It has been pretty quiet in here! I have been feeling the same way as everyone else :( I went camping and ate sooo much meat/protein I thought I was going to explode. Camping = what can I cook over the fire next? I got some bad news last monday, started eating my feelings for a few days, rescued my mom from Florida, and now I am finally getting back to eating normal. It is so hard to stop eating constantly. You get used to shoveling sooo fast!
Cassy- Congratulations on surviving your tour of the countryside. I am sorry for the loss of your grandmother :(
Joan- you are always the one to start the butt kicking.... THANK YOU
Sherry- hug. Just thought you could use it :)
Lauren - Welcome to the group! Sounds like you are on the right track :)
