Anyone in this grouping looking to drop from 140 to 130's.  We can all use support.  Today I am focusing on all the food groups.  Exercise would be good, but I won't be able to since I am working from 9 to 10:30.  A Super long day.  I hope I can stay focused, when I pass the fast food chaines on my travels today.

Happy New Year Ladies!

I can't raise my arms above my head, sitting has become a challenge, I can't laugh without my abs cramping...I'm soooo glad I went back to working out to be healthy!  I'm very sore indeed...but I guess it's a good thing...Scale down to 149 this morning, that's nearly a 6 lb loss in 3 days...probably just water but I don't care, so long as it's gone!

Sherry:  you are way too funny..confessing ahead of time!  Maybe you could get Summer to help you cook the vegetables...maybe that would entice her to eat them!  I use to have my kids try one new veg a week.  I did find that they preferred most of the raw...carrots, green beans, baby spinach.  If you buy canned, remember to look for sodium free!  We use to keep a chart with pics of the veggies they tried and what they thought of them.  If they didn't like it, we would post a date in the future when they would try it again.  It seemed to work.  My girls loved popping the ends off the green beans!

Well I have a bit of work to finish up before I can leave...Gotta hit the grocery store for some goodies...My father is having a "party" tonight and the youngest person there will be about 79!  He asked me to join them but I said I didn't think I could handle all that excitement!

Let's hope 2009 is better than predicted!

Joan, you are SO on your way! Great job getting back to the gym!

Sherry, I am with you.....tonight will be a splurge night! Last one for awhile! I worked to hard to get the first 10 pounds off, now I need to focus on the last 10 or so!!!

I am excited! I am in Grand Rapids Michigan and my husbands company sponsered the building of a giant lit up New Years Ball to drop at midnight! There is an outdoor concert too! Some country singer and The Plain White Tee's are playing! Should be fun! I am fighting a cold, but I have tomorrow off and can rest then!!!

Well Happy New Year ladies! We can make 2009 the thinnest and healthiest yet!!!
XO

Hi Ladies

Nice to see some of you I haven't seen in a while, Joan I agree you are an inspiration and getting back on the work out wagon seems to work wonders for you 6pounds in 3days! if it's mostly water that great but what was your work outs?

Sherry, when my daughter was 9years old she was stocky for her age, it was very disheartening, sometimes the snacks at school is what we don't know about... she now is very healthy and part of her school dance team so all of the baby weight is gone, but I had to start making major changes in my house as well... veggies, steamed veggies, fruit, lots of apples, no chips and still she would have her hot frito's at school... i think Joan's suggestion to have her cook the veggies with you is the perfect way to get her to eat them... if pork chops are her favorite, maybe you can introduce her to a healthier meat?  maybe some sort of grilled chicken or fish? with a new recipe?

Good luck and happy new years everyone, to a new year and new us! 09' is definitely the year that I will reach my goals and challenge myself to stay healthier, sexier and fitter than I have been in many years ! :) xo Soraya

Happy New Year, ladies!

Joan~  I'm so happy to see you back in this!  I was so bummed when you didn't post anymore.  :(  You're such an inspiration, and you're our weight lifting expert.

Weighed in yesterday morning at 133.4 (under my maint. goal).  =)  Had a great dinner last night... wine, pasta, bread, chocolate cake - need I say more?  Stayed up way too late and slept in.  Back on track today and probably at my 135 maint. weight, but that's fine.  It's all good.  I'll probably be back under again in no time anyways.  Ate a very healthy breakfast and got a really good workout in.  Feeling great!  Going to drink lots of H20 today too!  Gotta flush out all the bad stuff!

Hope you're all having a happy, healthy day!!

Happy New Year Everyone!

I made it to the gym today...YAY me....didn't want to go...it was too darn cold outside...but I forced myself and I'm glad I did...Lifted for 122 min and only 18 on the elliptical...wanted to get to a couple of stores before they closed.  Even tho it's nearly 7pm, I'm way under calories for the day...only at 739....I'm not going to worry about it cause it's not like I do this every day..

tomorrow I have to go to my uncle's wake right from work and the funeral is on Saturday so there will be no gym for a couple of days...can't go Monday...having an echo cardiogram...Maybe Sunday and then Tuesday.  I don't want to start missing...it's way too soon...I need to be on schedule for a few months...

Scale was kind again today...147.6...down 7.2 in 4 days...sure it's all water weight but at least it's gone!

Soraya and Karey, I'm sooo glad you're both doing so well.  That has to keep you smiling!  Great job ladies...

Ok, stuff to do....Take care all :)

Happy New Year....had a great night, drank a whole bottle of wine...need I say more thankfully not a bad headache how I don't know....eating was off and on today....tomorrow back to the grind:) Healthy eating......

Joan~  You are doing great, and sooo getting there in lightening fast time!  Wow!  You'll be back to where you were in no time.  ;)  Good job on your lifting!

Sherry~  A whole bottle of wine!?  Wow, sounds like you had a really good time.  LOL  I  think I only drank about a 1/4 of my bottle... saving the rest for another occasion.  Besides, doesn't take much to get me tipsy.  LOL   C'mon, woman!  Get your act together... get that eating down, it's a new day, new year!  Hope you get back on track tomorrow!  You can do it!  You and Joan should have a competition.... very motivating.

I weighed this morning....146 couldn't beleive it wasn't more like 150, I was really surprised but I have gained like 4 pounds since the holidays I was right around 142-143.....I can get that off without  a problem as long as I get back on track...

Karey- I couldn't beleive I drank the whole bottle!! I did mix it with some juice like a mimosa it was a sparkling wine, quite tasty:) The alcohol content must have been low because I'm not a big drinker and I never felt like it bothered me a whole lot plus I guess with the eating kept it at bay....thank goodness!!

I am eating oatmeal and a cup of coffee now, hoping to stay on track today, plan on having soup for lunch.

wow very quiet in here...

Had a busy weekend...left work early Friday, picked up my father and headed 90 miles away to my uncle's wake(father's brother)...timing didn't allow for dinner.  We arrived early and my father was hungry so he went for pizza, I waited in the car to avoid the temptation.  Long late night...Up early to head back for the funeral...Had normal breakfast of oatmeal/strawberries....missed morning snack..Went to buffet reception after the funeral...Had a bunch of salad, lots of steamed veggies, 2 small pieces of salmon(tried to scrape off as much of the cream sauce as possible) 3 chunks of fresh pineapple, 2 tiny broiled marble potatoes, and a mall dinner roll.  Stayed away from the "make your own sundae" table....After a long, tiring day, got home late afternoon and gave in to the temptaion of several chocolates and some chips...I dont even like chips!  Scale still had me down another .2 this morning...146.8...that's 8 lbs since Monday!  YAY....

Sherry I'm glad the scale wasn't as bad as you feared!  Ok now, this is a new year, let's make it a new you!

Let's make this new year a new Us!

Well I'm back....I took some time off over the last couple months, I needed some lazy time.  My weight is up some but not as bad as it could be (it's right around 150).  But starting today I am back on track 100%, I start my marathon training.  This season I'm trying something different and I'll see if it works.  Last year I felt like I was so rushed and skipped strength and cross training a lot.  So....this year I'm getting my butt out of bed at 4am so I can get my running/cross training in.  Then that way I should have time in the evening for strength and stretching/yoga.  It looks good on the calender (that is on my fridge for the world to see).

My training has me working out 6 days a week right now between running and cross training (and yoga, strength and stretching).  Once I get into my prime mileage I'll probably drop down to 5 days a week.  My goal is to drop my marathon time down to 4:20:00, I think that is a good solid goal.  And to drop my weight back down to that 140 range (and keep it there this time).

Hello to all, I promise I'll be around more.

Cassie- so glad to see you back, I was really worried about you!!! I did the 1/2 marathon and was happy with my time and felt good afterwards and was able to jog more of it than I thought possible.  I haven't done hardly anything since the marathon, the time change killed me and it's dark when I get off so I am going to have to invest in a treadmill I guess.....I really don't have the money right now....but I need to!!!

Trying to get back on track especially with exercise, I see lots of flab...... I can get eating under control it's the exercise I have issues with.

Hello to everyone.

Joan~  Yep, it's been pretty quiet around here lately... you and Cassie were MIA, so it pretty much was me, Sherry, and Soraya for awhile.  So glad you guys are back now though!  ;)  You've been doing an AWESOME job of getting back into it.... I can't believe you've dropped 8 lbs already!!

Cassie~  Glad to see you back, girl!  Missed seeing you guys around here.  Sounds like your determined to get back on track and have some very ambitious exercise goals.  Wow!  I see you do yoga... I love yoga, but never find much time to do it.  maybe I'll have to try some this afternoon.

Sherry~  yeah, that time change is a killer.  It always makes me feels so tired.  Hope you can get back on track soon!  ;)

I finally made an appointment with my doctor to go and get my hormone imbalance straightened out.  Hoping she can offer some insight into what's going on and what I can do to get it leveled out.  ;)  I'm sure I'll feel so much better once that's fixed.  Can't get in until next Tuesday though, so I guess I'll have to wait another week.

Also... I've been debating about losing another 5 lbs or so.  My tummy is still pudgier than I'd like and I think another 5 lbs down may help it out some.  When I had gotten sick and was down to 131 I liked my body a lot more and my tummy was pretty flat.  Hmmm...

Karey~ Just remember you can't spot lose but that last 5 lbs might just do it for you.  I know for me if I watch my carbs closely my stomach doesn't pudge as much.  But I am a runner and I love my carbs, lol.

Sherry~I had read that you finished your half marathon, I'm so proud of you.  Isn't that feeling of crossing the finish line amazing:^D  The last couple years I have used my tax return to buy all my equipment.  I would like a home gym with a rower on it.  I know what you mean about the time change, sunset is 5pm right now and the days have gotten "longer."  For me as long as the temp is above -5* you will find me outside running, dark or not.

Well 2 days in a row I got my butt out of bed and did my cardio.  Yesterday I did a combo of treadmill and elliptical, this morning I did my elliptical.  This evening I will do strength training.  Time to get the kids out of bed and ready for school.  Have a great day ladies.

Hi Ladies..

Headed to the gym tonight...haven't made it there since New Years Day...Between the wake, funeral, and an echo-cardiogram last night, there hasn't been any time.

But keeping my food controlled has helped the scale be kind to me...down to 145 this morning...9.8 lbs in 8 days and I'm getting all my calories in, all 1200-1300...Must be water wgt...dont' care so long as it's gone.

Cassie:  good to see you back.  I think a bunch of us took a break for awhile.  Brigitte hasn't been around except for once in ages.  -5*!  You're crazy!  I'm having a hard time adjusting to the harsh NJ winter...Lucky you to have good equipment.  Now that You've got a better handle on it, I'm sure your marathon time will go down...good luck!

Karey:  get those hormones under control...It will help your weight...hopefully that 5 lbs will do the trick for your gut!

Sherry:  I hope you're able to get on track soon...Seems like you spent most of last year trying to get on tracK!  Come on girl, you can do it!

Ok, gotta get back to work...

Take care everyone and be healthy!

Okay ladies I did exercise tonight...man it's amazing what 2 months of doing nothing will do to you....I'm exhauseted and just did 25 minutes...did 15 minutes of the bicycle posistion on my elliptical and then 10 minutes on the elliptical position and I did my free weights about 40 reps of different ones for my arms....wow I'm tired and that's so sad but I'm so proud of myself for doing it, now to keep going....

Cassie- yes it felt wonderful crossing the finish line and I was just so proud of myself.... I hope to do it again this year, have no desire to do a full marathon but would like to do the 1/2 again and improve my time but still need to get really focused to get better.  I do not have a good place to jog when it's dark so that really hurts on my end, I think having a treadmill would really help, my neighbor has one that is not being used I think I may see if I can borrow it for a while:) At least to help get me back going.

Joan glad to see you headed back to the gym and man look at those pounds just falling off of you, like you who cares if it's water as long as it's gone.

Karey- you are right that 5 pounds might just do it for you, I know you can do it just put your mind to it, you have been doing so great!!!

I'm really hoping that I have decided that I am back on track....2 months hiatus is  enough and I need to get back to it, I was pretty happy where I was at with my body within reason in November, I'm not now...more flab in the tummy area which I HATEEEEEEE!!!! So back to focusing on me.  One of the ladies I work with goes to a Zumba class on Monday's think I'm going to start joining her with that and then if I can do a couple days at home and then hit the track on the weekends that shouldn't be to unrealistic...wish me luck.

I'm so proud of all my friends here, ya'll are great!!!!!!

Sherry~ made your neighbor will help you out with that treadmill until you can save up for your own.  I only use mine if i absultly have to.  Running half marathons are a lot of fun, I'd say they are my favorite race.  Long enough to push yourself but yet short enough that you can still party like the rock star you are after the race is done.  Sounds like you have some realistic goals, you can do it.

Joan~ once you get you mind on getting on track the weight just drops off you.  Hope you had fun at the gym last night.  I've been living in this cold weather my whole life, so....-5* in the winter isn't so bad.  Now if you told me to go run in 80* weather I'd probably cramp up and pass out in 15 min, lol.

I did get my strength training in last night, 30 min for a full body, got all areas a little bit.  I got myself out of bed again this morning, boy was it hard.  Figured since it only 4 miles I was going to go outside regardless of the weather.  It was a little chilly, the temp was 0* and with the wind chill it felt like -15* to -20* but I have good winter gear so it wasn't to bad.  Tomorrow I'm meeting my running partner and we are running 5miles....at 4:45am, YUCK!!  Hopefully after a few more weeks I get used to this early morning crap, I'm so not a morning person.

Wait a minute... did I actually read that right!?  Sherry, did you actually work out?!??  Haha, I'm just messing with you Sherry!  Sorry... couldn't resist!  ;)  Seriously though, good job on getting back into working out, you should be proud.  I bet you felt pretty good after that too.  Now, just keep it up!  :)  You can do it, girl!

Joan~  Hope you're keeping up w/your exercise and getting back to the gym.  Have you ever read The New Rules of Lifting for Women?  I just bought it last night because i heard so many good things about it.  Just started it, but so far I really like it.  I'm excited to get into lifting more and building some sexy muscle!  Hubby bought me a new weight lifting bench tonight, yay!  Gonna go try it out a bit tonight and then read some of the book...

Cassie~  Wow, ambition... getting up to run at 4:45am in the freezing cold!?  Are you crazy, woman?!  Yuck, is right!  I admire your drive, I wouldn't be able to make myself do that.  You go girl!  Enjoy your run!  :)

Karey~ hope you like your new bench.  I will eventually have a home gym, then I will have just about everything I need.  Let is as long as the home gym has a rower on it, I would really love to have that 3rd cardio ability.

I did not go run outside, they were saying it was supposed to be a lot colder so I went on my treadmill instead.  Did a full 4 miles on it.  That was way better then Monday monring, I think my body just is not wanting to motivate that early in the morning.  Tonight I will do strength again, even though my triceps are still sore today.  Tomorrow is cross training so, 30 min on the elliptical that will almost be fun, lol.  Did an offical weight today 150.2, that is with going out to eat last night.  Plan to try to do me weigh-in on Wednesday mornings from now on.  Food has been pretty good, yesterday I really wanted protein so I gave in, lol.

Oh....found out I can get workout videos through netflixs I am soo pumped!!!!

Hope everyone has a great day, think healthy thoughts :^D

Okay eating was completely awful yesterday, no exercise I was so sore...probably not a good excuse but I didn't want to get more sore and then do absolutley nothing at all.

Tonight I'll finish cleaning house and exercise, going to start in the elliptical position first and end with the bike:) And of course use my pitiful 3 pound weights and do some arm exercises, but it helps one of these days I'll remember to buy heavier weights. I hope to go to the track Saturday morning.

Eating is been alot better today, raisin bran for breakfast and lunch:) will have breakfast for supper tonight hopefully I can control myself or I'll have oatmeal, I love eggs and biscuits:) So maybe I need to do oatmeal. Already drnk 30 oz of water and will get another 30 in probalbly before I leave work.

Cassie- whatever!!! I can't beleive you run in that kind of weather but I guess you are used ot it like I'm used to hot and humid.....bless you and your will power!!

KArey- you are a nut!!! I would love to start lifting more weights too, maybe I just need to suck it up and join our gym here in town..... it's just expensive it's liek $45 a month and I think that's crazy they don't have that much stuff, I think I'll talk to Scott and see what he thinks.

Joan hope you are making it to the gym liek you want to.

Hey Ladies,}
148 this morning! 1 pound away from my pre Christmas weight!
I work late tonight, so no workout, but I have been running the stairs when I can!
I am at 720 cals for the day with dinner still to come! So about 600 cals between dinner and a small snack and I will be set!
Hope all is well!
