140/130 club

Quote  |  Reply
Anyone in this grouping looking to drop from 140 to 130's.  We can all use support.  Today I am focusing on all the food groups.  Exercise would be good, but I won't be able to since I am working from 9 to 10:30.  A Super long day.  I hope I can stay focused, when I pass the fast food chaines on my travels today.

hey, i just wanted to say:

keep positive with this! it may take you a while, but don't give up!

about one year and a half ago now, i weighed in between 145-150 on average. to date, i hover between 125-130 (130 today...but due to christmas eating..my talent and curse is that i'm an amazing cook/baker)

through out the year and a half, i would boune from weight to weigh.. some weeks i was on the lower end, some weeks i was up at 135-140 again... don't let times like that get you down, because anything small can make people (especially women) fluctuate like mad, and just because you go back up to the 140's doesn't mean you fail! :)

Cassie~  Sounds like you are doing great!  Keep it up, girl!

Sherry~ I know, I am a nut!  LOL  Gyms are so expensive... that's one of the reasons that we bought are own stuff.  The treadmill was expensive (I've had it for a long time now though), but we bought the free weights set at Play It Again Sports (used) and that wasn't too bad.  Bought the weight bench brand new, but it wasn't to bad... on sale for around $150 and it's really nice.  So, for a few hundred dollars you can have your own weights and stuff at home if you want to.

Carie~ Same name, different spelling (mine is Karey)... anyways... good job on being close to your pre-xmas weight!  Also, good job on your calories and those stairs!

As for me... the scale was nice to me today and I'm down 1.4 pounds from yesterday!?  Not sure how that is... must be water weight, but I'll take it!  133.6 today! :)

Joan~ Hope you're still hanging in there!

Where's Jessica been?

Carie- great job getting the weight back down!!! You are doing great and taking the stairs, way to go...you are on the right track for sure.

Fresh- exercise is my main problem I feel that I know what I can eat to keep the weight I want it's the exercise I have issues with:)

Karey- you are just doing great, who cares what the 1.4 pounds were they are gone and that's what matters....you'll see more off dya by day...you are rockin!!!

I did good today....I had raisin bran for breakfast and lunch, had an apple this afternoon I got in over 60 oz of water today!! I cooked breakfast for supper, I had 2 eggs, 1 piece of ham and a canned biscuit and I stopped there and 2 large glasses of water....guess what I did then....I exercised!!!!!! I did 15 minutes on the elliptical and 15 minutes on the biek, felt better tonight and then I did some arm exercises with my weights.....feel pretty good, glad I did it that's for sure, I just feel better.

Will not weigh in the morning TTOTM surprised me...I'm a little out of whack right now so oh well....will weigh next week.

Probalby won't exercise tomorrow but really hope to go to the track and get a couple of miles in Saturday morning.

Sherry~ WTG ate good and excersiced!!!!  Wait until your little frind is gone before you step on the scale again, lol.

Karey~ isn't is strange how the body can fluxuate so much in weight from day to day.  That's why I went to weighing once a week, that way I get a better idea of the trend and sometimes I skip that evil week of the month.

Carie~ attack them stairs, it's an awesome workout when you can't get a "real" workout in.  Darn holidays and there evil good food, lol.  But it is only once a year and now it's 11 months away.

I didn't do my strength training when I got home from my meeting last night, I was too tired.  Did get a workout of sorts in, will do strength this afternoon/evening and just won't do a lot of leg work since I will be running 7 (or so) in the morning.  I have a trainer meeting at 6am and then we are doing our run at 6:30, so I get to start my run at my normal end time, lol.  Hope everyone has a battle plan for the weekend.

Got lots of water in today......no exercise but had not planned any for today, have a really bad I'm guessing hormaonal headache on the left side of my head..starts at the base and goes behind my eye...woke up with it about 4:30 this mornign, and i took medicine and it lessened and came back around 3.....I did have 2 small glasses of wine but eating over all today has been pretty good.

I will wait and see how I feel tomorrow before I go to the track. I may just do the ellipitical......

Cassy- you sure have a lot of early mornings, I just don't know how you do all you do!!!

Hi everyone!

Well, my body seems to have leveled out some... seem to be staying around 133.4 or so, so that's good.  :)

Cassie~  I used to weight myself only weekly, but lately for some reason I've become addicted to the darn scale.  At least I do realize that weight fluctuates a lot, so it's not too bad.  Great job with all of your workouts and runs - you're kicking butt!

Sherry~  Good job on getting your water in.  Ugh, I know how all those hormonal problems are, they suck!  Hope you feel better soon!  I'm excited because I go to see my doctor on Tues, so hopefully I'll get my hormal imbalance all straightened out soon!   Hope you make it to the track!

Eating was really good and healthy all day, but we went out for dinner to Uno Chicago Grill.  I had the Grilled Chicken w/Mango Salsa, steamed broccoli and roasted vegetables and a raspberry iced tea.  Not bad and it fit into my calories... BUT after that we ended up going to Brusters for ice cream!  Ugh... I can never resist the ice cream.  Had a single scoop of White Turtle in a waffle cone = heavenly!  I know it was really bad calorie wise, but I think it was worth it!  I'll do better tomorrow.  ;)

Hey ladies,

I am doing okay, my scale broke so I don't know if I made it into the 130's yet, but feel it for sure, def. feel smaller, okay so I did really bad tho' yesterday! it was my daughters Sweet Sixteen Bday and I had 4 slices of Pizza, plus Ice Cream Cake and lots of Chips and hummus dip! oh and Wine, I drank soo much wine! huh so I"m feeling it today, gonna try to flush out, I reallly want to get motivated to work out but feel so tired from running around for two days, atleast I jogged/walked 6miles yesterday before the party ... I hope that balanced some of it out! I feel guilty, oh and I woke up had serious stomach acid reflux and couldnt go back to sleep at 4am...painful! whew ! okay had to vent it out...

Everyone seems to be doing really really well congrats everyone xoxo... soraya

Hello Ladies!
148.5 this morning! Seem to be maintaining right around here! Time to kick it into overdrive! So before church I will hit the bike and the weights! Today I am not sure about the food! I had a great breakfast, 1 scrambled egg and a light WW english muffin with honey. But than I had friends over and I had some Reduced fat cheese with Whole Grain Crackers, Chips and Salsa, Veggies and light dip, and some Veggie Pasta. Just kind of grazed all afternoon. Nothing big. I am guessing a bit on my calories, but figure I am around 1600 or so. I was Go Go Go all day. Just not enough water!

I have definitely kept eating in check this weekend, i can't belive it, I have not exercised but yesterday was so windy and misting rain...not for me.....I may get on the elliptical tonight...haven't decided, spent the last 2 hours puting together a cart for my kitchen, i'm excited about it for the storage! and i did it all by myself:)

Will have bbq tonight...got a tenderloin in the crock pot and will shred it and put bbq sauce on it....don't think it will be to bad cal wise, I had some corn flakes for breakfast, a small helping of chicken spaghetti for lunch and green beans and then the bbq for supper and I made some sugar free fat free chocolate pudding for dessert:)

I found a recipe for some pancake muffins it's on the Aunt Jemima Wheat pancake mix box, going to put it in the recipe exchange and see how they are, they sound pretty tasty and it says you can add fruit....may have to try them out for something different.

Was going to go to Zumba dance/exercise class tomorrow after work but hubby has to put in a hot water heater for someone after work so noone to watch summer.....may have to take her to the dentist anyway.....our teeth are going to be the death of me:)

Might weigh tomorrow.....still ttotm but feeling pretty good....now to be good all week:)

The pancake muffins would have about 160 calories in them, the analyzer didn't recognize the pancake mix so I just did the calories for dry measure and didvided it by servings it would make:)  So might try them...a little more cals than I wanted for just 1 muffin but something different, maybe with a scrambled egg would be a good breakfast. I'll let you know.

Sounds like you ladies are all doing pretty well!

Soraya, I wouldn't stress over the b-day party food... sounds like you're feeling thin, so that's good.  Besides, it was only one day.  Hope it was great!

Sherry, good job on keeping the food in control... now just get to that exercising.  The pancake muffins sound pretty good... I really like muffins, but it's hard to find low calorie ones.  i recently made some of the BlueBran Vitatop muffins... have you ever tried them?   I ordered the mixes and Vitatop pan online and the vitatops have only 100 calories and added vitamins.  They're pretty good!

I did really well on eating today and got a lot of protien in.  Also, got 4.5 miles in on the treadmill doing intervals.   Only bad part today was I had a meeting at work tonight and they had ordered Boston Market... only had a very small piece of chicken (removed skin) and small dab of mashed potatoes (no gravy), small dab of mac and cheese, lots of veggies and a cornbread biscuit.  Oh, and half a cookie.  Tried to keep it all in moderation.  Also am drinking lots of water today.

Tomorrow I am planning on starting my new weight lifting workout from the New Rules of Lifting for Women.  I'm excited!

Sherry~ yeah, I do have a lot of early mornings.  I really don't like mornings but it's the only way that I can get all my training in and not feel stressed out about having to skip something because of a meeting or kids activity.  I do what I do because I have to do it.  If I want to get thru my training season healthy and be able to have a great race I have to do my cardio in the morning and my strength training in the evenings.

Karey~I've gone thru those addictive times with the scale too, if my weight seems up for 2 weeks in a row I'll weigh daily to see if I have a heavy day of the week or something strange.  I miss Uno's we used to have one of those here.

Soraya~ bummer about your scale.  Sounds like you had a lot of fun at your daughters bday party.  Your daughter only turns 16 once, your allowed to enjoy yourself, and you did get some excercise in before hand.

Carie~ WTG on maintaining, maybe try fluxuating your calories from day to day, it might help to jump start the weight loss.

I had a pretty good weekend.  Saturday had my 7 mile group run and then my daughter and I had a girls day.  We went out to eat for lunch and went to go see Marley and me (her choice and she's only 8).  Sunday did ok with food choices, really have to stop letting myself eat whatever on the weekends.  This morning I was so happy when I woke up the weather was ok so I was able to go outside and run.  It was supposed to be a 4 mile tempo run, got the 4 miles but it's hard to do a tempo run in 3" of snow.

I need to kick my weight loss into high gear, need to lose about 5-10 lbs so I can be in prime running weight.  So gotta really start watching what I eat.  On a positive note, my body fat is already startignt o go down.

Cassie~  That's so sweet that your daughter and you had a girls day... awww!  I haven't seen Marley and Me, but I've read the book quite a long time ago and it was pretty good.  Sad, but good.  Sounds like the weekends are your downfall... maybe you could try limiting yourself to one day or one bad meal for the weekend?  Good job on the running!!

I was so happy this morning - down to 132 lbs!!  My tummy seems to have gone down some and I was feeling pretty good.  Even got a compliment on how nice I looked today from a guy outside the post office.  :)  This morning was the first day of my new weight lifting workout.  I had to fumble around for awhile trying to set up the weights and figure out how heavy to start at, but once I got going it was good.  I'm sure I'll get more into the groove of it as I go along and learn what I can/can't do.  Struggling right now to get all of my 2200 calories in.... only up to about 1700 right now.  Oh well, I like to eat, so it shouldn't be too difficult.  LOL

Karey~ once I get up to running 15 miles on the weekend I won't have to worry about my food intake on the weekends.  Just have to remind myself I'm only running under 10 for now.  Don't you love it when the problem is not being able to eat enough, lol.

I had my CPR class last night and didn't get home until after 9:30pm.  It was really hard and I hit the snooze a couple extra times but I did get myself out of bed, and I did get my 45 min in on my elliptical.  It was funny I was just going to have a Slim fast for supper last night but I so had the cravings for veggies so I had a subway filled with veggies instead.  Didn't do the greatest on food choices otherwise but I'll do/have been better today.  Tonight I get to stay home and I have strength tonight.  I so plan on going to bed early tonight.  I think i'm going to go back to protein shakes for at least one meal a day until I can drop some of this weight dropped off.

Cassie~  Running only under 10 miles for now - LOL.  I would DIE if I had to run 10 or 15 miles.  You go girl!!  That's just amazing to me.  Yeah, I love it when the problem is trying to eat enough, that's the best.  :)  Good luck w/the strength training tonight!

Scale was down again today... 131.4!  Sooo close to my final goal of 130!  Today is my rest day from the weights and tomorrow is my second workout... actually looking forward to it.  Went to speak w/my doctor this morning about my hormone imbalance and she ended up putting me on the NuvaRing again.  Last time I tried to cheat and not have a period, which in turn made me exrememly irritable, ect.  So, this time I'm going to use it correctly and hopefully it will work better for me this time.  If not, then it's on to Yaz next.  A friend also recommended Evening Primrose Oil, so I'm taking that now too.  Any of you take that?  Supposed to help with PMS, among other things.

Karey~ medical things tend to work better when you do them right, lol.  WTG being so close to your goal weight.  I've heard of Primrose oil, never tried it myself.

I had to use my treadmill this morning, temps were -18* with windchill in that -40* range.  Looks like I'm going to be on the treadmill agian tomorrow, forecast is for -29* temp.  I did do my strength training last night, skipped out on the dips and the squats/lunges but I did everything else.  My weight was up this morning not sure if it's because of the strength training last night or what.  Did good with food yesterday, made good choices.  Today starting out with a Clementine and a slim fast.  Not sure if I'll have a shake for lunch or something else.  Tonight is my night out with a friend at Perkin's.  I'll probably have a salad without cheese on it.

I have been eating good, no exercise but my stomach has just had this I think I'm going to throw up feeling the last couple of days so I haven't been pushing it, probably won't see any change in the scale but at least eating has been under control, accomplished something I say:) It's going to get cold tonight, low tomorrow is 9* nothing like what Cassy is dealing with YIKES!!!! but of course anything lower than 40 and it kills us!!! LOL!!!

Karey- I have a friend on Yaz and she loves it, I have an IUD, it's good for 5 years....not sure if I would do it if I was thinking of having kids before then, but so far I like it, I hope you are able to get everything straight.  WTG on the wiehgt!! That's awesome.

have a great night.

I'm here! Just trying not to get discouraged! I have two weeks until my qualifier exam for my PhD. I have been studying nonstop for a month and I really just want it over with already!

I am pround to say that I have managed to get some exercise in after a 3 month hiatus. I made it to aerobics 3 times last week and then a 2 mile run and aerobics so far this week. It feels sooo sooo good. I want to start training for a 10 mile race in the fall. I know I can get there... so if anyone has a good training schedule, let me know. I can't start training until after my qualifier, but I figure 8 months is more than enough to up my milelage!

So now, my biggest nemesis revealed... the candy bucket that is next to my chair as I watch TV at night.... someone kick my butt into putting it farther away from me. I mean, I may still eat a piece or two, but I should still be made to get up to get it!

Cassie~  Good job with the running and eating!  Stay warm!!

Sherry~  The doctor disscussed an IUD for me, but she said it woudl be a lot of cramping (at first) and spotty or missed periods possibly and I don't need to deal with that right now... just want to get mine straightened out.  Hoping the NuvaRing will be nice to me this time.  :)  Hope you're tummy feels better soon and you can get back to the exercise!

Jess~  Good job getting back into the exercise!  Oh, and move that candy bucket, woman!!!  :)

Sherry~ good job on the food front, now get that stomach figured out so you get some excersice in again.

Jessica~ good luck with the PhD qualifier exam, that's tough .  WTG on getting some exercise in.  As far as running increase your mileage or time by 10% every week and every 3rd week drop down to 80% of the previous weeks mileage.  So your weekly totals look like this 8, 8.8, 9.7, 7.75, 10.75, 11.75, 13, 10.3, 14.3...I think you get the idea.  Since you have a lot of time maybe look up a couch to 5k plan.  You don't need to run more then 3-4 days a week tops too.  Cross training is also really important to do while training.  I'm training for a full marathon right now, what out or you'll get the running bug and just won't be able to run enough :)  For the candy, get rid of it, it's empty calories.

I did not get my run in this morning.  I really wanted to run outside but it was like -47* with wind chill (temp was -27*).  I knew I wouldn't make it on the treadmill my stomach felt icky and I can't run thru things like that on my treadmill.  So I'm going to switch things around and I'll run outside tomorrow morning (it's only supposed to be -15* tomorrow morning with almost no wind).  Still should do strength today, have to do it this afternoon because I have 2 meetings tonight.  Food has been pretty good, did have 1/2 a cookie but I wanted it darn it :P  Going to continue to eat healthy and really hope the scale starts to go down.  At 780 calories after lunch, so I'm doing good lots of room for snacks and supper.

Where has our Joan gone to?  I have a question for the resident lifter here, but she seems to be MIA...  Hope she's doing well and getting to that gym!

Well, anyone else know... is it common when you start lifting to go up a couple pounds when your first starting??
