140/130 club

Anyone in this grouping looking to drop from 140 to 130's.  We can all use support.  Today I am focusing on all the food groups.  Exercise would be good, but I won't be able to since I am working from 9 to 10:30.  A Super long day.  I hope I can stay focused, when I pass the fast food chaines on my travels today.

136 this morning, so yesterday wasnt toooo bad for me..  the only things i ate while at the fair between 1 pm - 10 pm was a pack of fig newtons (90 cal) that I brought with, a hot dog & bun from my neighbors company tent, and what probably equals 1/2 - 1 piece of pizza..  lots of walking around from about 1:30 - 4:30, and lots of sitting/standing between 4:30 - 9:00..  Kansas was good.. probably only chance I will ever get to see them in concert.. Lots of people dont even know who they are lol..  Kids had fun, which was the whole point of going..  Hope everyone else  in the USA had a nice holiday.

Brigitte~ you will always fit in this group no matter how much you weigh.  It is so unfair how quickly the weight goes on and how hard it comes off.

Sherry~ WTG on your time, always feels good to beat a goal time for a race.

I've been pretty ticked off at myself.  I rolled my ankle a couple weeks back while running and sprained it really good.  So after a week of pitty for myself, and then another week of taking things slow I'm hoping to get back on track for running this week *fingers crossed.*  I ran 18 miles last week and that went pretty well but the 7 mile run I did Sat really left my ankle sore.  This week I have a 17 mile run planned for Saturday and I don't know if I can do it.  I'm sitting 12 weeks out from my fall marathon so it's crunch time, I have 9 weeks to get comfortable with my pace and feel confident I can run 26.2 miles at a 9:39 pace.  I need to start lossing weight again too, I've creeped back up to 155.  That's not good.....for the next 2 weeks my kids are on vacation and the hubby and I are going to ride our bikes everywhere we can.  I think it's going to take a lot of cardio to burn all this fat off, just running 30 miles a week isn't going to cut it.  So back to square one, counting calories and tracking everything.  And I mean EVERYTHING!!!!

Gosh Cassy I wish I had your drive.. I remember when i pushed myself up to being able to do the Komen 5k..  i couldnt do it now.. maybe walking but not running/jogging for sure..  I hope your ankle feels back up to par quickly..

Still not doing any exercise here..  but I am really working on the nutrition side of things.. and hovering closer to 135 now instead of 140.. I know once the kids go back to school beginning of august i will HAVE to do something about the fitness side of it.. but one step at a time..  i am trying some gortons grilled garlic & herb (i think) fish tonight.. the kids are having Crunchy fish filets and Velveeta shells and cheese so I am subsituting a healthier choice for myself..  the grilled fish and some veggies.. we shall see.. lol.. also working on figuring out (still) getting more protein less carbs.. i know my MAIN ISSUE is BREAD!!!!!!!!! UGH!! lol.. i am such a bread and butter baby.. lol..   but i am keeping track of EVERYTHING i put in my mouth..  including my Low Carb Monsters..  which i grew QUITE the ADDICTION to.. I was drinking anywhere from 6 - 8 servings a day when i stopped back in here to start counting again.. and am slowly weaning myself off..  i am down to 4 servings a day now..

speaking of drinking.. not getting anywhere NEAR the water I should be.. in fact, i am lucky if i get 8 oz in a day.. hopefully when i get rid of the monsters i will replace them with water.. thought i would be able to work the water in as i reduced the monsters but it hasnt happened yet..  maybe i need to start with some crystal light, to get back into it.. i dont know..

Well ladies I'm still here.....so glad to see you agian Brigette!!!

I did a 5K 4th of July in Jonesboro, it was at the park there and was lots of hills, my time was 34:21, I wasn't real happy with that but I was also fighting a cold, had been fighting it all week and had only got to jog 2 times that week and no gym time....then did the run....still sick and finally went to the doctor on Tuesday...4 prescriptions later..yeah guess I shold have went sooner, I'm feeling better, still not 100%, think it's alot of allergies so I'll be getting allergy meds soon.

Got to the gym Monday night but felt bad last night and laid on the couch, tryin gto keep eating under control becuase that's one thing I can have control of. Hope to go to the gym tonight and jog at least 2 miles.

I have signed up for a 4 mile run in August, it's called Hot Summer Nights....it starts at 6:30 in the evening, looking forward to it, then I will do another 5k in Ocotber, these that I'm doing are close to my house, then I'll do the half marathon in November, but reallynot sure that I will be able to get the time I did last year, really working on endurance...to think last year I could do 10 miles of jogging and I'm struggling now with 4 miles...but I will try to do my best and then I'm going to work on my speed.

Gotta run.

Brigette~ I'm addicted to the energy drinks too, I have limited myself to 1 at lunch every day.  Hope you were able to keep with the subsitute last night.  It's tough to stay active when you have a housefull of kids.  I'm lucky this week and next my own kids are on vacation with grandma so I'm hoping to get a good workout schedule I can stick with down.

Sherry~ Remember to increase you mileage slowly and if you are truely sick then give yourbody a chance to recover before hitting it hard.  Trust me it will take longer to recover if you are pushing yourself.  I use runnerworld website for my running plans.

Last night the hubby and I went for a 24.75 mile bike ride.  This morning I wanted to run 6 miles but my calf was really tight, so I cut it at 3 miles.  I figure with the 5k I'm running tonight it's not worth pushing.  Still trying to figure out what pace I should run my race tonight, kinda thinking just running it at my marathon pace (that I want to run) in Oct. or slightly faster.  This week so far I have kept my calories in check, even with eating out last night.  We stopped by a pita shop in town I had a chicken breast with wheat pita and a ton of veggies.  I even stopped myself and only ate 1/2 the bag of chips.  Tomorrow will be a chalenge, a group of us runners are getting together at an Italian restuarant that has free bread....it will be a chalenge.

I just joined and love the group so far.   I'm sitting at 142 and have been for a while.  I lose a few pounds and feel like I can maintain and before you know it....I'm back up again!   I joined a gym in May and have been maybe 4 times since then.  I'm a mother of three girls and it just seems like when I have time...it's bed time and I'm exhausted.

How do you girls do it?   And eating healthy...any more what's that?   I keep buying fruit and veggies and the 100 calorie packs and the fruit goes bad!!!  UGGGHHHHH!   I just feel so awful about myself!   Thanks for getting this group started!   I know I will find motivation here!

Cassy - Italian food.. free bread.. hahaha..  i wouldnt survive.. we always go out to this place here, and i ALWAYS get their Chicken Parmigian and eat waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many of their garlic rolls.. lol..  havent been there since my husband left though, if the kids want to eat out, its usually something like mcdonalds they want lol.. so thats one good thing of him being gone for the moment.. i even went over a month without going to DQ for a treat.. and still had issues getting back on track.. finally went this past weekend (so much for being on track that day huh :P .. but i gotta allow myself that occassional "cheat" right)..

Hetsergirls - welcome to the group.  it doesnt seem to be quite as active these days, but usually someone will pop in.. and if we can offer advice we will :)  if you look at my journal entries i reposted my "12 steps" months ago.. but its still valid, and something i need to check back into lol..

about snacking..  sounds like you are getting the right stuff (especially the fruits and veggies).. you just need to force yourself into a habit of eating them instead of letting them go bad..  i use to plan my day in advance.. it seemed easier to stick to it then.  so if you plan on say celery sticks and peanut butter for your snack, prep it the night before, or the morning of.. etc.. etc..

hetsergirls~ welcome to the group.  I'm the marathon runner in the group, a mother of 3 and a daycare provider.  My best advice is to write up a schedule and make yourself follow it.  It can be hard to do everything and as a mom we tend to put ourselves last.  You have to schedule it in, either just what your daily goal is or actually write down the time you are going to do it.  Last spring when I trained for my marathon I was setting my alarm clock for 4am (or earlier) so i could get my runs in.  Nutritional note: personally I think the 100 calorie packs are a waste, they have no nurrition to them and they are only empty calories.  I allow myself one "free" meal and snack a week that is a little higher calorie as long as the rest of the week I follow my food and training schedule.

Brigitte~ What good is life if you can't enjoy it ;)  I will do my normal and ask for a to-go box before I even take a bite of food.  That way I have only what I'm going to eat on my plate before I take the first delicious bite.  I'm pretty lucky with my kids their favorite fast food place is Subway, though McD's salads have come a long way.

Last night I ran a 5k, and got another PR!!!  Don't have an official time yet but I think I was done in 27:53 (that's what my Garmin says).  I also ran my 6 miles this morning and we ran it a little faster then the past couple weeks, pretty good on less then 12 hours recovery time from the 5k.  Tonight is dinner out, not sure what the hubby and I are doing tomorrow...I should really hit the gym and do weights and the elliptical or something.

another few days have gone by.. still hanging around 135 ish.. met a friend and her kids thursday with my kids to see Harry Potter.. they all wanted DQ..  luckily she and hers had gotten there first, and her son didnt want the rest of his Tagalong blizzard, so i took it.. and had a couple bites.. BLECH.. didnt really like it, and i LOVE Tagalongs lol.. so that saved me eating something i REALLY shouldnt of.. Did buy myself a pretzel (no salt) and ate it during the movie..  wasnt a bad food day though.  I just know I need to start adding that water in and SOOON I should be able to add some exercise back in..  Kids finished swim lessons yesterday, so now I have two weeks til school starts back up that I have to find something to keep them occupied and happy with lol.. otherwise they will be driving me crazy ....

Sherry - sorry I missed your post there the other day lol.  hope you are over your cold. I had an awful cough for over a month.. its finally going away..  The fact that I am smoking again didnt help that at all..  that Hot Summer Nights run sounds like fun :) then another 5k in October. you go girl!! I would LOVE to be up to 4 miles jogging..  10 would super awesome lol.

Cassy - must be nice to have a vacation from the kids lol..  but do you still have kids to take care of that arent your own??   How did your 5k go? and the Italian ??

Got to speak with my husband a few times this week.. That was nice.. especially nice that i got more then 5 minutes of UNINTERRUPTED convo with him lol..   I really want to get back into shape while he is gone.. Thinking about checking into how the Personal Trainer at our "new" fitness center works.. See if she can help me with my issues, and how much its gonna cost me lol.

My neighbors are apparently having a BBQ today.. according to their daughter we are invited... I always eat too much at these things.. lol..

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend..

Well sounds like we are battling the eating demons!!  I really failed at it this weekend, my eating was horrible.....but today is a new day and the start of a new lifestyle.....I can do this, it's not hard, do I want to feel good or do I want to feel BLAH.....I think we all know the answer to that.

I am going to start writing down what I eat, not so much measuring and counting just making myself accountable after I look at a day's worth of food...and I'm going to start writing down my exercise, maybe that will help get back on track for sure.

I have to get it together, I'm going on a cruise in February!!! and when I buy clothes I'm going to need to be able to wear them then!!!

We all know what we have to do when do we learn the happy medium between it all?

Brigitte~ good save with the blizzard....good thing you didn't like it, lol.  I do have other kids to take care of 6:45a-5:45p but at least hubby and I get some quality time in the evening.  The italian was really good, ended up having it again on Friday night.

Sherry~ you're right we all know what we SHOULD be doing and eating....it's the exacution we all seem to be having issues with.  I know I just eat too much food...and lately drink too much alcohol.

Finally got my official time for the 5K, 27:55.  Over the weekend I ran 13 miles and biked 13, would have biked more but I ended up with a flat tire.  I had an extremely busy weekend, my eating was pretty good...the amount of alcohol on the other wasn't so good.  But today is a new day and I don't have plans for going out this coming weekend.  Four and a half more days without my kids, then we drive down to my mom's to spend the weekend and then starting next week it's back to normal summer.  I will miss being able to go for bike rides/runs with the hubby.  It was really nice Sat morning going for my run with the hubby riding along on his bike.

so the BBQ was put off til sunday..  but i was GREAT there (IMHO).. lol. I had one gourmet chicken sausage (110 cal approx), a slice of whole wheat bread to eat it on, a small spoon of potato salad, mac salad, and baked beans.. it was all very yummy, and i kept within my calories :) in fact, my weight finally dropped under 136 again.. 135.6 :) whooot :)  so I am at least at my original weghtloss goal, now to get back to that 125 i hit before lol.. I have been conversing with the new personal trainer at our community fitness center via email the last two days (i know, i should just call her :P) and we are going to plan on me and the kids meeting her up at the park one day after one of her classes (no i dont wanna go to the class :P), and do an initial assessment.  That way once the kids go back to school on aug 3rd, I can start meeting with her to work on my issues :) its something like $5 for the initial assessment, and i guess about the same for each "meeting" after?? since she was hired by our housing they pay her a salary so its cheaper for us??  i cant wait, i really want someone to show me/tell me what to do, how to do, and hopefully see some serious results in my muscle tone in the months to come..

Sherry - you KNOW you can do it, you just gotta hold yourself accountable for everything you eat.  we all know how to .. Cassy is it right, its just the execution we have issues with lol..

Cassy - i bet its been nice spending time with the hubby without the kids.. My husband took Leave before they left and while the kids were in school we went and did stuff alone that we normally wouldnt do with the kids.. We even went on a horseback ride (guided trail) one morning..  and much to my enjoyment we were the only two booked for the ride :) i had a blast. :) ... in fact i will post a pic in a minute..  and yeah  i was pretty happy about the blizzard not being that good lol. it was a large, and he had only eaten a few bites, theres no way i would ever eat a large ANYHOW lol..   wtg on your 27:55 time!! lol i think my only 5k was 42 min haha..

Well I made it to the gym yesterday had steak tacos for supper should have only had 1 but I had 2 becuase I was so hungry when I got home i had some chip and dip, I went to the gym and did 2 miles on the treadmill and my back and hsoulder workout, it's my shorter workout..tonight I'll do at least 3 miles on the treadmill and my longer workout, it's raining here, rather pouring so not outside running, I'm not as dedicated as Cassy!! LOL!!! I'm glad I joined the gym so I really can still keep my running up when it gets cold outside, I don't like running in the cold but may invest in some better clothes to run on the weekends this winter, I still enjoy running outside better. I'm writing everything I eat down, I'm not measuring right now just trying to hold myself accountable because if I have to write it down it's no fun staring at it and I'm writing my exercise down, I really want to see what all I do over a period of time.

Cassy- that's a great 5K time!!!! I wish for 30 minutes even or 29:59 :) maybe one day...right now I need endurance for the 1/2 marathon in November, I guess I have been able to up my speed a little on the treadmill, wonder how that will be on the street, I know it's different than being on the treadmill.

Brigett- way to go not eating the ice cream!! and doing good at the bbq.  I wish it wasn't so expensive to get a trainer here, I pay $75 for a month going once a week....I'm going to do another  month with her after I'm back on track for a good month or so... luckily I have all the exercises from when I trained with her on a card that I'm still doing but I slacked so much there for a while I feel like I'm back at squear 1.

August 8th is a 4 mile run called Hot Summer Nights, it's at 6:30 p.m. and if you know Arkansas weather, it will probalby bee 97 degrees with 90% humidity!!!  We had great weather this weekend, it was in the 80's!!! We never see that!!!

Well back to work I go.

Brigitte~WTG on that BBQ.  You are so lucky getting a personal trainer for that cheap.  At my gym the assessment is free and after that it costs an arm and a leg.

Sherry~ I love running in the rain...it's great the water keeps you from getting hot.  Granted if you don't wear the right clothes it can be horrible.  I have compression clothes I will wear during the rain, you need something tight otherwise it just feels heavy and you want to wear long sleeves because rain drops can hurt, lol.  Invest in some good winter running gear....it makes all the difference in the world.  Keep increasing your long runs and you will do great for your 1/2 in Nov.

I pretty much got my runs in this week.  Monday I did my intervals and tho they were a little hard (as they should be) I was able to do them pretty close to on track.  Yesterday it was hotter then I expected and even with bringing extra water I still ran out so I ended up walking some of my 8 mile run.  This morning I did a 6 mile run instead of a 7 because of time.  It will be interesting to see how I do on my long run Sat.  We are going down to pick up our kids so I'll be running in an area that has a lot of hills on it.  But it's pretty close to the some as the marathon I'm running in Oct, so it's good I'll be running down there at least once a month this summer.  I haven't lost any weight yet....I think I need to stop drinking on the weekend, damn summer get togethers, LMAO.  The hubby told me to get my ass to the gym more, guess that's being supportive.

Innocent Hiii everyone!!

My name is Sophie, I am 5'10" and about 145 and hoping to become 130-135 range soon! I have been a vegan for a very long time, and I just graduated high school.

The reason I am losing weight is because I gained about 12 pounds recently due to emotional/binge eating, and I am working on this and trying to reach my happy equilibrium range (130-135!!!) by August 31st.

I see a dietitian regularly who helps me, I eat loads of vegetables and fruit and other wonderful, natural things, and my favourite food ever is sunflower seed butter. My greatest barrier to my goal of reaching my equilibrium weight again is my impulsive cravings and poor relationship with food. I am hoping to heal this relationship and reach my goal as well as support others!

Thank you for reading, and I look forward to reading everyone's updates as well as sharing my own. Hopefully I can contribute some useful advice to the group!

=) Good luck everyone-- you are all so special.

Sophie~ you must be very small boned.  I'm 5' 7" and my goal is to be in the 140 range.  Sounds like you have some good healthy habits.  The hard part is food is our addiction and we can't just stop eating. You can do it, this is a great group of ladies that are very supportive.

I am so proud of myself.  Last night we went to Golden Coral (hubby's choice), if you don't know what it is it's a huge all you can eat buffet.  Well the first plate I had, I covered 2/3 of it with lettuce and healthy salad stuff and just a small scoop of pasta salad.  My 2nd plate was grilled chicken (about 3-4oz), some spicy orange chicken (about 2.5oz), about 1/3 C of white rice, and a small serving (1/4 C) of fried okra.  Then I just had a very small scoop of ice cream and tiny scoop of apple cobbler and a tiny lemon bar (they both fit on the small desert plate without touching).  It's still a lot of food, but I did good about limiting myself and not going back for more.  After eating we went to a movie and I just had a pop, no popcorn or treats at all.  Today besides the 4 pieces of Twizzlers and the small chunk of carmel roll, lol, I have had a good food day.  Tonight we drive down and get our kids.  It's going to be a tough food weekend with a bridal shower, a graduation party and 10 hours of driving....I am going to do my best.  One thing that will help is the 16 mile run I have tomorrow.

Hi Sophie :) Welcome :) heres looking forward to seeing some awesome posts from you working towards your goal :)

Cassie - OMG no way could i walk into Golden Corral and not just stuff myself lol..  I have always seen eating out at restaurants as a big treat, and if i am going to pay for all that food, i am gonna leave full (which winds up being very uncomfortably full lol..)  enjoy your 16 mile run :P and do your best with all the stuff you have to do this weekend!! hope you packed snacks for the 10 hour drive..  :)

still havent gotten together with the personal trainer..  have a week til kids start school again (okay and an extra weekend) and I really want to be started on some kind of fitness plan then..   gotta get my tush in gear..  ugh.. and still havent broken the monster habit.. and still not getting enough water..  now my back is starting to bother me.. i am gonna fall apart before i can get myself back together again lol..  on the weight point.  hanging at 135.. which is good.. i know once i get back into the water, and back into the fitness part of it, i CAN do this.. :) Hope everyone has a safe and HEALTHY weekend :)

Yay! Congratulations on all of your efforts.

Stay strong, and remember that everything you put into your mouth really is important! I find that the best way to implement this notion into daily life is to never ever eat while standing.

Good luck on your weekend!! Being a mother is the toughest job in the world, and it is really cool that you are trying hard to take care of yourself in addition to that.

lol Unicat-- drinking too little water is my most common mistake. Knowing when to stop eating (am I hungry?) is my second most common difficulty. I understand your challenge!! lol.

yeah sophie.. not drinking enough water is a MAJOR mistake..  one, it helps you feel full.. two, it actually ups your metabolism, something about your body temp regulating to a cool glass of water.. three, it helps flush out all that nasty sodium..

I KNOW when to stop eating, I KNOW when I am FULL..  my problem is i LOVE good food too much :P  thats why the best thing for me is making sure I have certain portains (why do i think thats spelled wrong? almost positive it is, but my brain isnt working lol) of food, and no extras available lol..

still 135 this morning..  cant complain, since i am only watching what i am eating, not actively trying to lose..

Kids go back to school in a week (and a day lol, yes i am counting them down)!! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! maybe then I will do SOMETHING lol..  I cant wait just because it will give me 5 - 6 hours a day without saying stop this, do that.. go to your room.. go outside..   lol..
