140/130 club

Quote  |  Reply
Anyone in this grouping looking to drop from 140 to 130's.  We can all use support.  Today I am focusing on all the food groups.  Exercise would be good, but I won't be able to since I am working from 9 to 10:30.  A Super long day.  I hope I can stay focused, when I pass the fast food chaines on my travels today.

carabo - you're sooo right, it's doable because everything we're learning is based on real food!  it's awesome!

thanks srd, portion control is definately key! i am amazingly good at completely staying away from desserts, i don't crave them or even really desire them when others have them.  alchohol on the other hand is my nemesis... we'll see how i do! :)

vcoop - i'm going to nyc, staying in manhattan.  i'm sure it will be WAY different than california! yeah, i can't wait!

srd, you're a rockstar!  way to allow yourself a little of what you crave until it's no big deal anymore.  you're doing great!!

unicat - totally agree.  it's hard sometimes to throw away food 'cause it seems so wasteful.  but at the same time i have to remember that throwing it into me is even more wasteful! LOL
i know how you feel teen... my mom always made us clean our plate.. and i hate that to this day...  its sooo hard for me to see food leftover on my plate.. if i have already gotten rid of half.. and i get full before i finish my half then i have to either have them take it away IMMEDIATELY or push it to the oppposite end of the table cos i will eat it otherwise...  no matter how stuffed i feel...  its just so engrained into me to finish my plate...  ugh...
So I was wondering how much you guys thought your weightloss has slowed since entering the 140's/130's.    It seems like it just crawls off.  I started at about 178 and my loss averaged out to about 8 pounds a month.  It is almost the end of March and I have only lost 3 pounds.  is it suppose to go this slowly?  Sorry I just needed to vent...haha...it seems like all I ever write about is how frustratingly slow this whole process is. Hopefully the bright side of this is that I will stay at my goal weight longer then a week...which would be a miracle for me.

Hey unicat I have been wanting to tell you that your pic's totally inspire me!

Meg :)
awwwwwww thanks Meg :)  i am glad they inspire someone lol.. actually quite a few people have said that :) they inspire me too..  (except tonight when i messed up, but we wont talk about that..)  i need to print em out and put em on the fridge, and all over the kitchen... haha...

as for it slowing.. i dont think mine would of been so bad, if i hadnt eaten badly a couple times.. i was averaging 9 lbs a month, and this month i think its more like 5.5?  ugh.. lol.. and i think when you get this close, that you are building muscles a lot as you burn, so the fat coming off is being replaced by more muscle... :)
you should create a profile, make entries in your journal and add some pics meg :) lol..
thanks for the support guys! I still have 2 or 3 rolos left for those cravings, lets see how long they last!! :)

teenwolf- alcohol gets me, too ;) I started volunteering to be DD so I can't drink as much as I used to. I'll have like 2 beers, and that's it. :)

You guys don't even want to get me started on my mom making us finish our plate!!! Lol... I even mentioned in it my profile b/c I think it has made such a negative impact on me!!! No matter where I am I HAVE to finish what is on my plate, or eat whatever is in front of me (chips, buffets, anything packaged in large quantities..). She HATED throwing anything away! So even if we were full and didn't want anymore, she'd tell us to put it in tupperware and save it for later and we didn't want to do that, so we'd just eat it... Plus, to begin with, we were eating things like hamburger helper, hot dogs, rice a roni, nothing with really any nutritional value!! That has been one of the hardest things to overcome!! I'm getting a lot better at portion control so it is getting a little easier. My boyfriend and I buy paper plates and I get the dessert sized plates so I am forced to have a smaller portion! It worked great last night b/c I came home to find my b/f making 2 BOXES of mac and cheese! He said he was really hungry and thought I'd eat some too, b/c it's one of my fav's, but I was like nope, probably just a bite... But I had grilled some sandwiches on my foreman grill and once I put the sandwich on one little plate, filled another little plate with green beans, I had only enough room on my plate for about 3 bites of mac and cheese! :) it worked! :)

down to 138.8 this morning! And, I checked 3 times and it stayed the same today :) I really need to be good this weekend so I don't have what happened to me last week happen again this week... frustrating! Going from 138 to almost 140 and then having to re-lose... and it was from KFC and sweets, not water ;)
Stacey..... you will so enjoy NYC.  I was like a country bumpkin, it was like nothing I had every seen.  Chinatown was amazing, Statute of Liberty and Ellis Island were cool too.

Here you about the alcohol, that is my main concern about going on this cruise tomorrow.  I can handle the food (I hope), but its the alcohol!!!!!

You awhile never had to worry about leftovers, my husband always finished what I didn't.  But he started eating better when I did, so now he doesn't eat what I leave.
Alcohol has been getting me lately too! What's going on with us? Is there some spring drinking spore in the air? Last night it was red wine again (my personal weakness). I counted all the calories and was still fine in that regard, but sheesh! You'd think I'd want to spend all those calories on food!

Finally really loving the tofu shirataki noodles. I think I've finally mastered how to cook with them. Last night I had a giant portion of pasta with seafood, garlic, and peas. It was fantabulous and took me a good twenty minutes to eat it all. Only 300 cals for an enormous plate of food!

Also, my hubby has started being more supportive. He now counts how much olive oil he uses when he cooks and lets me portion things out before we start eating dinner. He no longer looks at me like I'm a freak when I weigh my food, etc. Last night he didn't even make any normal pasta for me b/c he was expecting me to use my funky little tofu noodles. What a guy!
Teenwolf... Im from NY and u will do so much walkin u wont even think about everything else... if ur not walkin ur goin to be takin the train so just think of it as one big track... go to 34th street and shop... u will definately burn a chunk of calories doing that ...  go to 5th avenue and browse the designers (prada, fendi, niketown).  81st on the B train has the Museum of Natural history and Museum of Modern Art (MOMA).  ooooh here a great walkin experience.. walk across the Brooklyn Bridge... its so beautiful u wont think about anything else... as well as there are so many people that eat healthy in NY that u wont have to worry about being good because there will always be something good to eat..

yesterday made me realize that evern 3 days of slipping up can be detrimental... my 3 mile run turned into 2.5 because i felt like i my lungs wer going to sieze up on me... wow ... but i completed my run and decided that i will never slip for that long again.
messam - where were you when I visited?????  All I remember was walking here and walking there, she diffiently will get exercise in.

really worried about my exercise time while on vacation.  I just have to make sure I do something.  Alcohol is a big worry also.  I haven't had a glass of wine in 3 months and craving it something awful.  That was one of the things my husband and I like to do, wine and cheese here in Ohio.

uno - nice to have a supportive husband, it does make a difference.  One of the women I work with her, has been dieting with me, but her husband refuses to change his eating habits.  he is a stay at home dad, so he makes dinner.  She really was having a hard time.  Where my husband on the other hand, has been eating and helping me all the way.
first off, i have to say this.. i reallly love this place :) thank you all for supporting me in this :)  for those who read my journal and left me such great words of encouragement, you know what i did, and i know what i did, lol..  and it wont be happening today lol...  i was sooooooooo completely shocked and amazed when i stepped on the scale this morning and it was at 144.5 .... i totally expected it to go up at least a lb.. if not more... :)  so yay :)  i will get off my behind today and do my exercise and i will eat right.. (practicing what i preach here, lol)  and i CAN do this...  less then ten lbs to go, and i am going to be sooooooooooo awesome :)  thank you all again :)

on alcohol.. i dont really drink, only the occassional strawberry daq...  i have one in my freezer (did you know they make em in packages, little one serving size ones, that you just throw in the freezer?? yum)  and its been sitting there since new years eve.. so i dont have a problem with that.. :)

uno - congrats on having such a supportive husband :)  mine supports me in my weightloss, but the only time he changes what he eats is when he has to pass his PRT, lol.. then he lo carbs for about a month, and hes fine lol..  (lucky him)....

messam - yeah you have to stay on it to stay in shape...  otherwise your body gets use to not working so hard, then when you do it wears you out... so stay on track :)

v- dont worry sooo much about your vacation, i am sure you will do fine, and you will find ways to get that exercise in.. you will do great girl :)

have a wonderful friday all :)
~Brigitte~
s-meant to tell ya congrats on 138.8   :) nice number :) cant wait to see it :) lol
thanks for all the encouragement!  i can?t wait to leave tomorrow morning now!  i totally feel armed with the fact that i can get through this and still be good, while relaxing and having fun!!! YEAH, VACATION!!! :D

srd - i always use the little plate too!  it's kinda cute 'cause hubby uses the big plate and big fork (and is a little over a foot taller than me :)) and i use the little plate and little fork.  i think it totally helps with portion control!

uno - i had red wine last night too (my weakness as well).  we went over to my brother's for dinner and red wine was just part of the package.  luckily, i expected it and budgeted it into my count yesterday.  it's great that your hubby is being so much more supportive; it's really tough without it.  he's prolly seeing the changes in you and realizing he likes them and should be helping rather than fighting your changes! :)  i know my hubby keeps getting increasingly supportive as he sees what he likes! LOL!

messam - thanks!  you're totally giving me hope!  my hubby just suggested last night that i bring my pedometer on the trip to make me realize how much i'm walking while i'm there - great idea! :)  plus, central park is right behind where we're staying and i think we'll enjoy many jogs through there!

unicat - i swear most people have a problem resisting one or the other - desserts or alcohol - either one will get ya! LOL!!  btw, don't worry at all about what happened the other day!  you slipped, but only a little.  you did end up with a deficit at the end of the day.  you really did keep it under control to the point where you certainly would not be gaining!!  don't kick yourself so hard, these things happen to everyone!  just get right back on board and keep at it!
thanks teen :)  i will get right back on track.. have my day all mapped out for me (at least food and exercise wise lol) i cant help kicking myself so hard though, cos i knew what i was doing when i did it.. and it didnt taste as good as i wanted it to, just good enough to keep eating it lol..

and the pedometer is a great idea :)

when are you leaving??

off to exercise (been saying that for the last 25 minutes lol)...
~Brigitte~
i'm leaving tomorrow morning - whee!!

now, brigette, go exercise, NOW!!! LOL!
unicat, I agree, I love this place too!!! It's so nice to actually get solid, meaningful support from people! The only thing I find sad is the my own friends aren't even this supportive! I guess you just need to find the right group of people to get you goin! :)  thanks for the encouragement! I'm still hangin out around 139, where I've been for the last 6 DAYS, but hopefully if I stay good this weekend, it won't go back up :)

I had pizza today... yum! I usually eat 300 calories for lunch and I had 2 pieces that I think were 150 each, 2 veggies... At most they were 200 each, and I still had enough space in my calories to enjoy them both :) Then I had a brownie and I found the tiniest one available (there were like 30 in one pizza box... if I could just me and that pizza box alone.... the things I would do... lol j/k!) and I enjoyed that thoroughly (sp?) !!! I won't tell you guys how awesome it was though, b/c it would make your mouths drool and run out for a brownie, and I don't want to encourage that ;) but it was tasty! and fit in my calorie budget!

I have my 2 oclock snack on hand but am not so hungry, may eat it around 3, it's just a light string cheese, mmm... But I am making tilapia for dinner with baked potatoes and some cole slaw for me and the b/f, yum!

On supportive spouses... I'm glad to hear how much support you guys are getting! My bf has been pretty awesome too! He lets me hog the tv for my dvds, luckily he likes to read! and he'll eat the healthy stuff I make. I just make him twice as much of whatever I'm eating and he usually enjoys it... It's refreshing!

teenwolf- central park sounds so fun to jog through! I'm so excited for you to do well in NY! I know you'll be fine!

v- you'll be great on your vacation too! I'm sure you'll be able to get out and walk around for parts of the days! have fun! :)
lol, okay teen i did it :P  got a cramp in my stomach halfway through the high intensity segment.. worked through it though..  was sweating through the entire cool down lol... ewwwwwww.. i need a shower now :P be back later lol.. (gonna clean house too i think)...
