140/130 club

Quote  |  Reply
Anyone in this grouping looking to drop from 140 to 130's.  We can all use support.  Today I am focusing on all the food groups.  Exercise would be good, but I won't be able to since I am working from 9 to 10:30.  A Super long day.  I hope I can stay focused, when I pass the fast food chaines on my travels today.

Thanks paulatriesagain, I'll try the evening exercise.  I was also thinking because I've been eating better and feeling better I haven't had the need for an afternoon nap.  Maybe I should lie down and rest a little around 3:00pm and that might give me the extra strength to exercise (I need to up my time and level; it's getting too easy) a little more and strength of will. Last night I was successful!    :D   Welcome navywife202005, my mother was a navy/mostly army wife before my father retired. Which makes me an army brat.  I?ve always hated that term.  I don?t know how or why people would think that kids who have to pick up and move every two or three years are brats.
I don't know either, but I've heard it alot. I've got two and don't think they are brats, well sometimes they are, but what kids aren't sometimes. :0) Thanks for the support ladies.

Still at 140 this morning, and I walked pushing the stroller for over an hour last night. Maybe tonight I'll try jogging instead of walking. I guess that's why they call it a jogging stroller right? So you can jog with it.
Keep at it navywife :o
just got into the 140's today... about 149... my next mini goal is 147 which unfortunately is a weight that my body has really liked in the past, so hopefully i don't plateau there.
Welcome! Welcome!  : =D  allirenee,

Slow and steady has long as I?m healthy has been my motto for 3 months.  I saw a good quotation by Dottie Walters: ?Success is not a doorway, it?s a staircase.?
Welcome, allirenee and navywife!!! Glad to have you aboard. *salutes*

Evenings are tough for me, too, paula, and sometimes I find that working out after dinner helps me curb my hunger. But sometimes I find that I'm just hungrier when I climb into bed. :-\ I guess it all depends. Silly body. Lately, when I get cravings, I drink a glass of water and wait 15 minutes. It usually works.

songchild, I'm huge on naps. I generally have a pretty even-keel energy, and I can get stuff done pretty well, but on busy days, I like my naps. Big time.

WELP! These past few days have been pretty good. Yesterday I went out to dinner, and it was so nice to not...worry about it. I ended up being talked into dessert, and had a chocolate mousse, which was SO satisfying. I was planning on having more snacks when I got home later that evening, but when I got home, I wasn't hungry!! I just drank loads of water to flush out the sodium. I know that gravy was really salty. It was SO good, though. Roasted chicken, asparagus, mashed potatoes...bread...vegetable spring rolls...it was good! Oh, and, I got a side of steamed green beans, just to fill me up. Yum. :D

Power went out last night, so I couldn't plan my meals, nor adjust my calorie count for the day. :-\ But this morning, I did it, and I stayed a little above 1900 yesterday, which was better than expected. I'm proud of myself for not snacking when I got home. I'm having serious motivation issues today. I don't feel like going to work out, because it's just so darned hot. Plus, the last few times, Matthew has been there. ARGH!

I'm starting a new job tomorrow, just a part-time cafe thing. 7-12 in the morning -- not too bad. I wish I had known I was starting tomorrow, though...I woke up around 10 am and I'ma have to get to bed early. The boss called me just this morning about it, haha. Oh, well! First day, then a weekend. Not bad. I'll try to get up early and such. I need to buy new shoes today, because I'm going to be on my feet a lot with this job. I had an interview about a serving position yesterday, and I don't know if I'm hired yet. But if I am, then I'll be working there on the weekends, and I'll really be on my feet a lot. :P

OKAY. I'm off to work out, I swear. I've got 1401 calories and an "A" day lined up. Gotta stick to it!

Liz :D
Hi Liz, I didn't have time for a nap today.  I?m going to start my evening exercises now.  So glad to hear about how you are enjoying such good food.
Hey...Let's get an update on how everyone is doing today! I know that all of you are staying strong, and fighting those cravings. Let's see if we can all do an extra 15 minutes of workout....it will really help all of us. :0)
*yawns* Ungh. Started my new job today. It went really well! It's just a part-time thing, and the hours are 6:45 am to noon. navywife, I would totally take you up on your challenge today, but...I'm struggling to stay awake. Hahaha. Off to the gym I go! (Normal workout planned.) Everybody, drink some coffee for me...

Liz :D
Hey Liz and navywife,  I lost another pound this morning!  I did 15 minutes over my first group of 45 minutes.  I?m trying to do two sets of 45 minutes.  One in the morning and another in the evening so that I can control my picking at food at night.  So far so good.  My second set was interrupted by a call from my nice, she needed help with a test she has tomorrow.  No guilt at stopping short since I did my first set and this afternoon  I went out with ?the girls?  and controlled myself really well.  The slice of carrot cake I ate was pathetically small. They hadn?t seen me since May and commented on my good looks.  Their compliments were so much more satisfying than a decent slice of cake would have been.
Yea!!!!!Good Job SongChild! Way to Go!
Thanks navywife.  How are you doing by the way?
Oh, my goodness. What a beautiful day! And I'm happy I have a lot more energy than yesterday. I don't know how I managed to keep trucking along. I almost fell asleep at one point, between 5:45 and 6:00, but I think a hunger pang woke me up.

songchild, way to go on the exercise!!! You did extra for me yesterday...haha, thanks. Twice a day, though, that's great!! And carrot cake is one of my favorites...although I found out how many calories the carrot cake cheesecake has at the Cheesecake Factory, and it's not so appetizing anymore.

Speaking of ridiculous amounts of calories, I remember a conversation I had with that guy, Matthew (the one I just broke it off with), and he was talking about the cheese fries at Outback Steakhouse. I don't particularly care for them, but apparently he does. So I looked up the calories, and reported back to him: there are 2900 calories in the cheese fries appetizer!!! And he usually gets extra cheese!!! Oh, that makes me want to vom.

Anywho, I got up bright and early today, and bought myself some new shoes!! With this new job, I'll be on my feet a lot; plus, I need them for working out...so, yeah, they fit really well and support my feet a lot better than my old Asics. I just got back from trying them out at the YMCA. ;) 35 minutes on the elliptical, 15 minutes on the bike, and then I just worked on my obliques.

Mom's picking me up in 45 minutes!! Yikes!! We've got dinner and a movie lined up, and boy, am I excited. Has anyone seen "The Devil Wears Prada"? Let me know what you think...

Hope you all are having a great day! Where's navywife? ;)

Liz :D
I'm still stuck at 140, I don't know what is going on with me....good job ladies on sticking with the exercise. :0)
Hi I lost another pound, I?m now at 143.  I haven?t weighed that in 5 years!!!!!!

Hi Liz, did you already see The Devil Wears Prada?  My mother said it was a real chick movie.  I have yet to see it.

Navywife, keep at it.  I once went for six weeks without any change.  The scale wouldn?t move below 150.   I think my recent success is from not eating after 6:00 pm.  I want to do double the exercise but last night I didn?t.  I was doing errands with my husband and we didn?t get home until 10:00.  Perhaps it?s the green tea in the evening too.  They say it burns the fat.  Also, I really try to eat my 1200 calories.  During the day I try so hard that sometimes I?ve finished all my meals at only 900 calories.  So to make the 1200, I eat a couple of tablespoons of peanut butter and milk with the green tea.  So make sure you are really eating enough.

Part II and III will come when I get them.  What ever you do don?t give up.  It?s like gravity eventually it?s got to come down.

Plateau Busters - Part 1 Eat the Right Nutrients at the Right Times

-- By Nicole Nichols, Personal Trainer

We hear it all the time?you changed your habits and lost weight steadily, but after awhile, that progress halted. You?ve been stuck at the same weight for days, weeks, or even months. There?s nothing more frustrating than trying your best, feeling like you are doing everything right, yet not making any progress towards your weight loss or fitness goals.

Before you inhale a bag of cookies to console yourself, realize that weight loss takes work, and isn?t always perfect. But, there are plenty of ways you can re-energize your program (and motivation) to bust through your weight loss plateau.

But?what is a plateau anyway?

If you?ve been exercising and cutting calories for several weeks, and you?re no longer seeing the same results that you experienced in the beginning, then you?ve probably hit a plateau. This occurs when your progress comes to a standstill, and can be described as not making any ?gains? (such as improving your fitness level or losing weight), but not necessarily moving backwards (losing endurance or gaining weight).

Because every individual is unique, there?s no way to actually predict when a plateau might happen. However, the following principles of nutrition, rest, and variation will jumpstart your body, mind, and metabolism. (This article, part 1 in a series of 3, will focus on nutrition.) Incorporate some or all of the following suggestions to both prevent and overcome a weight loss plateau. With just a little tweaking, you?ll be in your skinny jeans in no time!

Eat the Right Nutrients at the Right Times

1.  Make sure you are following your SparkPeople nutrition plan correctly. During set-up, did you accurately account for your level of activity? Or, if you are more or less active than when you started the program, have you changed this option in your set-up so that your caloric plan will be accurate for you? This is very important so that you don?t eat too little for your body?s needs, which can actually hinder your weight loss.

In addition, are you accurately tracking your foods in the Food Tracker daily, yet not reaching the minimum number of calories that is recommended? It?s common to think that cutting MORE calories will result in faster weight loss, but that?s not actually the case.  You should never consume less than 1200 calories per day. Eating less than this (or too little in general) makes your body think it?s starving (known as ?starvation mode?), so it holds onto every calorie, slowing your metabolism. Increase your calories to fit into your recommended range, and you?ll notice a difference.

2.  Your body can only do so much with the tools that it has, so eat well.    Aim for a wide variety of foods (instead of the same old thing day in and day out) from every basic food group.   Try new fruits and vegetables, ethnic cuisines, and a wide range of lean proteins, including non-meat sources like tofu and legumes. All (or most) of your grains should come from whole, unrefined foods like whole-wheat breads and pasta, and brown rice.

These healthy foods, especially when eaten every three to four hours, will help raise and stabilize your metabolism (and energy) to optimal levels. With fewer ups and downs, your hunger will stay in check, and you?ll have plenty of energy to finish a tough workout.

3.  After a workout, refuel with a balanced snack or meal within 30 minutes to 2 hours. Remember, ?balanced? does not mean just protein. In fact, most individuals?and even athletes?need less than 10 grams of protein post-workout. Carbohydrates are actually more important, so try to eat an additional 30 to 60 grams at this time, when your body is primed to uptake glycogen into the cells to replace the energy you just used up during your workout.

4.  Don?t overlook your huge need for water. Hydration is very important for stable energy levels.  (You store 3 molecules of water for every glycogen molecule). Plus, hydration promotes muscle building (powering your metabolism), while dehydration promotes muscle breakdown. So drink up?before, during, and after your workout sessions. The standard ?8 cups a day? might not be enough for you, especially if you are exercising regularly.

Yay!! Got a lot done today. My best friend came over and we worked out together, and then we took showers and ate lunch, and then we went to Target and I bought some clothes for work -- and they actually FIT me!! I feel SO cute. What a good day!

That's probably the last thing I usually say on the first day of my period. ;) So. It feels like a good start to the week!

songchild, congrats on another pound down!! If I had champagne, I'd toast to you right now. "The Devil Wears Prada" was actually quite good. I don't like mindless movies, and I'm pretty critical, actually. The last two movies I saw were terrible, and I wasn't feeling like sitting through another monstrosity. This was good!

And I realized, maybe by watching that movie, or by other means, that I have no idea how to put on eyeshadow or eyeliner. *shakes head* Oh, Lizzle.

navywife, no worries!! Keep doing what you're doing and your body will wake up and get the message in due time. :)

Aw, I'm in such a good mood. Kisses to you all!

Liz :D :D :D

I'm at 144 and my goal is between 133-135. I was at 122 4 years ago and I looked horrible, my mother called it "death on a cracker" (size 2/3). So I think 130 will be too low for me, but 135 should make me about a size 6 which would be ideal. I just started a week ago and said I would only weigh myself every 2 weeks, that way I'm likely to see a change when I step on the scale and not get frustrated. I've given myself a goal of losing the weight by Oct. 1st, wish me luck!!!!
Welcome aboard, bsargent and custard!! Glad to have you here. :)

Hope everyone's day is going well...mine started at 5:40 this morning! Went to work from 6:30 to noon, and boy, it was certainly interesting being the only one there and having to open all by myself on my second day at the job. Yipes. I admit I forgot a few things, and there were certainly some snafus, but all in all, it went pretty smoothly and I feel much more prepared for tomorrow! Yay!

I was exhausted when I got home, and almost fell asleep around 2...seriously, I was sitting on the couch, battling to keep my eyes open. Then I posted on here and some people gave me the motivation to go work out!! So! I did 25 minutes on the elliptical, 10 minutes on the bike, and worked on biceps/triceps. Better than nothin', right? ;)

Phew! I'm going to take a shower and eat a snacky-poo a'fore dinner. My official weigh-in is on Thursday...*crosses fingers*...

Liz :D
Hi bsargent, ?death on a cracker? wow that?s descriptive.  Thank God for mothers to tell us like it is.  I was having lower back and feet pain and my mother simply said, ?loose weight?.  So I have CC and my mom to thank.

Hi custard, even if you?re here for a short time; most of us will see you again in the 120 club.

Hey Liz, how did you bring yourself to exercising? Pretty good display of devotion.
