Club music - Suggestions?

Quote  |  Reply

I'm making a couple cds for a friend of mine (They can be standard or mp3, depending on how many songs).

She's really into the kind of music that they play at the clubs as she dances. Doesn't matter if it's something that's popular now, or a few years ago. I'm just looking for a selection.
If anyone has any suggestion on songs I should look into on iTunes or something, that would be great. The more, the better.

I can't help with exact songs, as I'm not into the club type music, however I can help you get some idea with iTunes.

From the iTunes store home page on the far left click music, then change the genre to Dance.   On the far right middle then you'll notice a box that says Top Songs.  If you click on the little arrow, it will bring up the top 100 songs (and I believe they decide by download popularity).

That should give you an idea of what's popular I guess.

Here are some great dance/club tunes. I'm terrible at remembering artists, so you'll have to seach on title:

  • Everybody Dance Now
  • Move It
  • Push It
  • It's Raining Men
  • Love Shack, B-52s
  • Beat It, Michael Jackson
  • Billy Jean, Michael Jackson
  • Kiss, Prince
  • 1999, Prince

There is a techno version of Abba's Dancing Queen that is fabulous. Don't know who did it, I found it on Limewire by searching.

  • Funky Town
  • Can't Get You Outa My Head, Kylie Minogue
  • Move Your Body

Maybe something like this would help. Cool

Search out anything put out by the Ministry of Sound - most of it is European DJ's spinning.

Lady Gaga? Whole album is good dance fun.

  • Shut Up, Black Eyed Peas
  • Womanizer, Britney Spears
  • Dirty, Christina Aguilera
  • Get the Party Started, Pink
  • Hot In Here
  • The Way You Move
  • California Love
  • Sexy Back, Justin Timberlake
  • Super Girl

I'm obsessed with Boom Boom Pow by Black Eyed Peas right now...that song is GREAT to dance to :).

Also, you can never go wrong with Get Low.  There's a reason that song's still played at every dance ever.

A bit of a mad mixture, but just what came to mind:

Addicted to Bass - Puretone

Ayo Technology - 50 Cent ft. Justin Timberlake

Just Dance - Lady Gaga

Piece of Me - Britney Spears

Disturbia - Rihanna

Faithless - Insomnia

Blackstreet - No Diggity

Junior Senior - Move Your Feet

Fat Man Scoop - Be Faithful

Rhythm is a Dancer - Snap

Kids - Mgmt

...and of course the ultimate classic: Born Slippy - Underworld

search for DJ Tiesto and Paul Oakenfeld and you'll get some club-dance-trance music.  Also any song w/ the word "remix" after it will give you something with a dance beat.

some are really good, some are completley AWFUL.  it's  a trial I usually have to sit through on the elliptical.
