Does anyone have any good beginers weight training programs? I am pretty solid with my cardio, but I think it is time for me to add weight training to my routine. I really want to work abs, legs, and arms. Any help would be great. I really don't know where to start.

I want to be in too!
height: 5'0 (and a quarter)
Current weight: 115
Highest weight: 133 (uggh!)
Goal weight: 105-110
I currently do 2 miles run/day on the treadmil plus 60+ floors on the stairmaster.
Trying to get some weights in a few days of the week but never seem to.
My main goals:
*to tone up at this stage! Even if I don't reach my target weight of 105!
*be able to control my portions. I have such a hard time with this!!
*enjoy life even if I am on the chubbier (sp?) side. I have always been so caught up with my weight that it seems that my life revolves around it!

veronicad, if you go the the 4'11-5'2 thread, you can get in on the challenges. It sounds like you would inspire a few of us with your miles and stairmaster workouts.

Today I am going to work out for at least 90 minutes! And drink at least 3 liters of water.

Hello ladies, I must admit that my goal was not met last night, you see I've been doing so well because my family has been gone and now they are back. (ughh!!!) Back to reality here. Ate terribly today and paid for it 10 fold, felt so bad that I couldn't even motivate myself to workout. going to start fresh tomorrow and hopefully will be back on track. I've been doing a hypoglycemic diet and I have been feeling great, slipped up today and had the chicken tenders basket and felt horrible. Back to the diet at dinner but still feeling weird. Looking for a challenge for Friday and going to finish up 100 crunches for the week. anyone want to throw out a challenge here?

How's everyone doing on their goals? Weekends are always harder for me ..... and Easter tomorrow - ugh (b/c of lent i haven't had chocolate since February).
My first goal was to run 20 miles/week - I've only run 13 so far which means I need to run 7 this weekend to reach.
Second goal was to not eat junk food. HAHA Didn't go so well.

Would love to join in with you folks. I'm 4'11" and will be 49 next week. It's taken me 8 years to take off 100 lbs. ( without surgery ) The trick I've found..... DON'T DIET !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Make it your policy to change the way you eat and make smart choices. When I was on a
" diet ", I always felt I was sacrificing, fighting the good fight. I felt resentful toward people or family members who didn't have to suffer the way I did. I felt guilty and angry with myself if I " cheated ". I always looked for the light at the end of the tunnel, " When I lose this weight..... I can eat all the things I used to eat ". Now, I feel the freedom to eat the way I do without resentment or self sacrifice because it is my choice to eat the way I do. Everyday. Don't get me wrong, I've made a few bad choices along the way, but there's no feeling of guilt. It was a choice.

I started a new thread for weekly weigh ins on Sundays
Hey folks it's Monday and I've totally blown today, I going to try and save it with a workout. but I've eaten way too much for the whole day and it's only lunch time. I know tomorrow is another day but I've had too many years with that kind of an attitude. so maybe I'll do an extra 15 on the treadmill tonight. I wanted to walk this morning but I was too tired to get out of bed!!! Knowing that today is No-chore Monday (my very own personal weekly holiday) is giving me some hope of a rebound. I'm throwing out the first challenge for the day, on Tuesday consume 64 ounces of water.
any takers?
any takers?
yeah being short sucks. I'm barely 5'0 and weigh 94.
I'm in for drinking 64 oz of water today :) I really need to push myself to start drinking more water!
So, holidays suck for eating right! I ate absolutely nothing that was good for me on Easter and I am feeling it now! Ick. So, this week I have every intention of working out everyday, and drinking lots of water, and eating healthy. Going for 3 liters of water a day, and at least 60 minutes at the gym each night!
Im down to 137 from 177 and im stuck! Whats worse is that my friend weighs the same but is in a size 4, im lucky to get into my size 8s...And whats worse is that it seems even petite pants are to long the bigger the size is, and the size diffrence between a 8 and a 6 are HUGE!!!!However I started at a size 12 so I try to tell myself that Im almost there but it seems like if i eat one thing wrong im up a pound the next day!!! We will all get there though it just takes time and relentless motivation...Good Luck everyone
