my coach gave me a thumbs down

Quote  |  Reply

I just weighed in for my first weekly weigh in and I lost five pounds this week (I've been drinking lots of water to rid water weight, exercise 6 out of the 7 with power walking and 3 days of it jogging 2 miles, and doing 1482 calories per day with A average nutrition usually) but my calorie coach thumb went down after I put in my first entry since starting and it pushed back my goal date by a week...why? Could someone explain, please?

Thank ya =]

the thumb gets angry if you lose more than 2lbs a week(suggest max healthy weight loss). don't mind the thumb, its just jealous

lmao i figured =]

since i have been working out everyday (doing bout 2 miles for the last three and plan on doing it almost daily and i want to get up to 5...let's see if that'll happen...) i was thinking of changing my activity level to moderate and uping my calories. what do you think? i wanna get in shape but in a healthy way that won't yoyo back.

I run everyday for a minimum of 2.5 miles.  Usually it is between 3 and 3.5, depending on how I feel and how much time I have.  I alternate my running speed (jogging and sprinting) to get the most out of the workout.

My calorie intake is usually around 1,500 to 1,600 per day.  I'm not sure if our stats are close, but I'm 5'6" and 156.

I have my activity level set to the lowest setting and then add the exercise as I complete it.  I find it a little more motivating to add it and see the calories burned number increase.

  Hope that helps!

Tciherr - can I ask how your weight loss is going with that routine?  Are you losing 1-2lbs/week?  Sounds like a great plan.

yea we're pretty close tciherr.  i'm 5'5" and 149 (well 144 now, yay!!!)

i have my activity level at light activity and was debating on putting it on moderate but it is motivating to add in activities I do =]

but how did you get your number of calories per day? is that what they suggested? because if you're on the lowest setting you hardly get any calories a day since they think you're sitting around all day (i would only be allowed 1,203 a day...sighhh). that's why i have my activity level so i know that im not undereating and making my body think im starving because my calories i burn daily is factored in with how much i eat instead of eating very little because of being set as sedentary and then burning off the little cals i did consume.  i'm just not sure what's the best way is to go about it since i've only been using this site for a week.

also, even if you cut down your calories pretty low, doesn't exercising keep your metabolism up so your body doesn't go into starvation mode?

waddaamelontoes, you could just decide what you want to target as a calorie deficit, say eat 500 calories below your calories burned. The burn meter on your home page also includes activities you have added to your log so you can use that number and subtract your target deficit.

thanks tim =]
