Coconut Oil?
Hey all!
I recently read an article in Health magazine about the newly discovered benefits of coconut oil. It was a very brief article, because it was only a component of their "Guide to a Flat Belly"(in this months issue), which was made up of 26 different tips.
But according to a study done by Brazilian researchers, women who took a 30 milliliter supplement of virgin or unprocessed coconut oil each day, lost more inches from their waistlines than women who did not take the supplement.
This information seemed very strange to me because of the bad reputation coconut oil has been given, due to its HUGE amount of saturated fat.
Does anyone have any knowledge on this subject? Or first-hand experience with using coconut oil as a supplement?
For some reason i find this very interesting, and would love any info :)
To me, health magazine is another one of those magazines that has a few good articles..but a lot of BS. I wouldn't believe it, if it was true then everyone should be taking coconut oil right? I wouldn't take that advise. Just keep eatin healthy and good old exercise is the real trick
My dad tried it, like spoonfuls a day, for weightloss and to lower his cholestoral. He did this for months. Neither his weight nor his cholestoral numbers budge. Although, He didn't gain any weight and his cholestoral numbers did not change. He didn't change any other aspect of his diet either. He kept eating his bacon and fatty foods treating coconut oil as a "magic pill". I know if you do replace good fats, such as coconut oil and avocados, with bad fats like animal fats it would probably work. I don't think it TOTAL bs but I just dont' think many articles or blurbs tell the whole story.
Mmm I love coconut oil, but I haven't noticed any particular benefits from it..possibly thicker eyelashes but that could have been my imagination, lol (eating it btw not spreading it on my eyes!)
