Coffee anyone?
So I drink coffee in the morning to get me up (better than that Mountain Dew I used to drink) and it got me curious.
Is there any harmful effects to drinking coffee? I drink about 3 cups/day. I like mine black with nothing else in it.

I have followed media reports of studies on coffee for years and the bottom line is that experts are split down the middle about it. Some say it's harmful, some say it is not harmful.
I drink 2 cups per day and can't live without it.
The main thing to consider is whether your body can handle the caffiene or not.

3 cups a day should not be harmful. If you have a 10 cup a day habit like I used to then you might be in trouble. Also good that you drink it black--Sugar and cream can really add up to more calories. The calories in black coffee are negligable.
I didn't use to be a coffee drinker, but lately I really enjoy a cup of coffee in the a.m. with my oatmeal. I have to have a bit of creamer and a packet of sugar substitute in it though. I'm hoping it's not too bad for a body. I've gave up smoking and frying everything and would hate to think I just replaced one bad habit with another. :p
What's really amazing is making a packet of instant Maple Brown Sugar oatmeal with coffee instead of water...
Oooh man. So good!
And to make it even better, stir in a tsp of unsweetened cocoa. It's only 7ish calories.
Whenever I want a filling, low calorie snack (an indulgence I don't get to have often seeing as I'm gaining) I have a packet of Reduced Sugar MBS Oatmeal (120) + coffee + cocoa (10) + .5 tsp of instant coffee.

I thrive on coffee. I think the worst thing you have to worry about is going to the restroom more. Coffee acts as a laxative.
That's good to hear that my 3 cup/day isn't going to harm me. Its the only thing that can seem to wake me up at 4:30am.
Go Mikeshoup, Go Mikeshoup, Go Mikeshoup...
Some "experts" say coffee is actually good for you. Has the same stuff as red wine (oh, yeah baby) and chocolat (uh huh, uh huh) that keeps you young and fresh.
Drink that coffee drink that coffee that's what I'm sayin'...

I almost forgot--
If you want to be really anal about it, be sure to drink an extra cup of water for every cup of coffee you drink. This will offset the coffee's dehydrating effects.

not that i know of. i am a coffee addict and nothing bad has ever happened to me.
I'm a shameless 5-10 cups a day addict.... If I'm not up early or working late I try to cut down buuuuut... I like it :P In the ams I always have at least 2 mugs.
I drink loads of water so I doubt many toxinscan stay in me, and I've been drinking loads of caffeine (coffee and tea) since I was 7 and I am 5'11" at 17. There goes the stunted growth myth :P

coffee is just fun, i find that the wound tight up the butt people are the ones who dont enjoy coffee
So far I have heard/read the following:
Coffee decreases your chances of developing Alzheimer's disease but increases the chance of prostate cancer and possibly cardiovascular disease.
Please note the scientific field can be a bit nutty at times and the aforementioned results could change at any time. If you desire to do your own personal research on the matter try going to pubmed and doing a search on coffee.
Personally I am all for keeping my brain plaque-free and enjoying my daily pot of Java!!

Just be careful with drinking coffee as caffeine is a diuretic. It dehydrates you and makes you have to pee all the time. If you're going to drink coffee, try to make sure you're drinking that much more water (i.e. "a cup for a cup"). Any time I go to Starbucks, I order my drink (usually a iced, grande something or other) and I ALWAYS order a venti iced water (it's free . . . why not?). Plus, water helps the fascia in your muscles pull tighter, which helps give your muscles a more "toned" look (my dance teacher taught all this fun stuff). Granted, it only helps if you're pretty faithful about exercising, which I have not become (yet.) Anyway . . . hope that was helpful!
I've been drinking around 120oz of water per day. I don't have too much trouble with that.
I love, love, love coffee. To be honest, I've been short on things to look "forward to" since I started being vigilant about weight-loss, so coffee is my last hold-out.
I'll tell ya something, though. I am absolutely aware that whenever I drink coffee, it INCREASES my appetite. I thought at one time that it might be my imagination, but I went several days (as a test of sorts) without coffee (gasp) and I had absolutely NO hunger pangs whatsoever.
Has anyone else noticed this little not-so-happy phenomenon?

I have just recently started to drink coffee and now LOVE it. I try to limit myself to about 3 cups a day. Here is a link to my theme song on you tube....it is soo cute if you like coffee!
