Google it. I think you'll find a lot of recent articles that 1 or 2 cups a day helps women live longer. For some reason, it was not the same for men. Coffee is very high in anti-oxidants, so that's good.

The downside is that coffee is also very high in acid. We should try to get our bodies more toward the alkaline side to avoid inflammatory conditions such as arthritis. So raw fooders would tell you not to touch coffee. (Besides, all that roasting and hot water is totally antithetical to a raw foods diet.) The healthy, beneficial enzymes are destroyed with heat.

i'll quote Skinny Bitch:

"Caffeine can cause headaches, degestive problems , irratation of the stomach and bladder, peptic ulcers, diarrhea, constipation, fatique, anxiety, and depression. It effects every organ system, from the nervous system to skin. Caffeine raises stress hormone levels, inhibits important enzyme stestems that are responsible for cleaning the body, and sensitizes nerve receptive sites. One study links it to diabetes. But don't go graabbing the decaf- Coffee is highly acidic. Acidic foods cause your body to produce fat cells to keep the acid away from your organs. Also, the crops are grown with chemical pesticides like all the other foods that are not organic."

Sounds like you drink it in moderation though~ just do your research, there is a lot of contradictory evidance out there.

skinny bitch is not actually backed up with scientific information, so i wouldn't believe that.

they've done lots of research and found that coffee every day promotes alertness with no overly noticeable bad side effects and reduces the risk of alzheimer's. i drink WAY too much though; like 8 cups a day :(

BLACK COFFEE = very high in antioxidants & healthy for you

SUGAR/CREAM/MILK = not good for you & excess empty calories!

*I drink coffee pretty much daily but the way I get it down is by sweetening it with Stevia. I use Sweetleaf Stevia drops that are ONLY stevia (no maltodextrin added) and it makes the coffee taste delicious!

Black Coffee RULES!

i drink black coffee too! but i add one packet of splenda :/ woooops.

i drink it black... NOTHING in it. can't have it any other way.

i love black coffe and sweetner...i have loads a day....i think its quite good for your metabolism as well

skim milk is good for you and adding a little bit will just add a few cals but at the same time protein and calcium. Just make sure you count it

i prefer flavored coffee w/ skim milk and splenda. Although when i am at work, i often drink the coffee black w/ splenda because they never seem to have any milk in the fridge! i think as long as you drink coffee in moderation its fine though ,so as long as its not full fat milk or creams.

I'm literally a junkie when it comes to coffee (I drink AT LEAST 4 shots of espresso a day), so I guess I'm one of those people who are so addicted, they don't care about how healthy it is or isn't!  I try to make it as healthy as possible though (lots of lowfat or skim milk for some protein and stuff).

Kinda scares me when I get withdrawal symptoms when I don't have it though...

hahah yeah not gonna lie, life without coffee would be very sad :P

I don't believe there is life without coffee.  I drink too much, about 3 pots a day.  And occasionally add a package of fat-free hot cocoa mix for a chocolate treat.

i quit coffee about 4 months ago or so as well as soda. Occasionally i will have a cafe mocha or a coke or a hot cocoa but usually i stick to water now.

I do not miss the caffeine headaches when i didn't get it in time, nor do i miss the stomach problems , interrupted sleep schedule, crashing in the afternoon.

my energy level before i took caffeine out of my diet:  ___-__----__---____---____-

energy level now ------------__-----------___-----------

So much better.

received an email just yesterday from weightwatchers.com "Coffee and Health". The article stopped short of "pushing" it, but cited many health benefits including possible prevention of type 2 diabetes.

I'm too chicken to quit.Smile

Mmmm coffee. My blood is the color of medium roast Folgers. At least it should be with the amount I consume every day :)

And to reply to the actual question... I'm not dead yet!

Coffee + agave nectar + soya milk = YUMMY.

And pretty good for you.

:)

Coffee is the one thing that I will never give up.  There are studies that say its good and some that say its bad. Coffee has been around almost forever so I think its ok, but even if it wasn't..I'm not going to give up my amazing cups of goodness.

I'm an emo eater (and drinker) ;)

I had a cup of coffee the other day with a sweetener, skim milk, 1T hot choc powder and light whip cream on the top- sweet liquid heaven!

Now I've got to have a cup!
