Coffee - Regular or Decaf

Quote  |  Reply

Lately I've been drinking a lot more (decaf) coffee than usual and craving it!

But I generally avoid caffeine (no specific reason, I just have, sometimes I can't sleep at night if I intake a lot of caffeine near bedtime, but it could be coincidence)

Is there any harm in drinking decaf coffee?? Health disadvantages??

I did a quick search and couldn't find anything. And to me, regular (caffeinated) and decaf tastes the same!
So for those who drink coffee purely for the love it (not to keep you awake!) why haven't you  made the switch -- why not? Do you notice a tastee difference?

I drink caf in the AM and decaf in the PM (mostly) -- I do enjoy the taste of coffee and usually find little difference between the caf and decaf versions.

Drinking decaf coffee helps contribute to your overall water intake  for the day (caffeine is a diuretic, so the regular doesn't really count), the way it is decaffeinated is where any health risks may come in.

To my way of thinking... if you're going to do the drug, do the drug.  I usually don't drink coffee at all anymore - I'll drink something else instead.  But when I do drink coffee, I want full leaded.

My uncle is a chemist that deals with manufactured chemicals and the such and told me to stay away from decaf because there is so much crap in it. I'd stay stick with the natural stuff but have it in moderation.

If I have coffee I go full throttle. I need my caffeine..So I'm addicted. I honestly have about 10 cups of it a day. :/ Probably why I don't sleep so well even though I'm always tired. lmao!

I once had decaff coffee, but it was the god awful instant stuff by Sanka...major vomit spew reaction...well almost....lmao..it's terrible. 8/

There are great anti-oxidants in coffee, and I believe you get them in decaf too.  There is good decaf and bad, I believe the good is decafinated with a water process.

I just drink regular, but keep it to 2-3 12oz cups per day.  I have read that more than 5 eight oz cups is too much.

Its that old moderation thing again!

Hehe, I always used to joke that decaf coffee was POINTLESS--the only reason to DRINK coffee is for the caffeine! But the more I've been drinking it, the more I've been enjoying it simply for the taste, so I can understand the decaf way of thinking!

That said, I usually only have one or two cups (probably 10oz-12oz each) a day, and I do use it for the caffeine, so I stick with that stuff. :-)
