Quote  |  Reply
Ok, so ive been know in the past (before the start of my new diet) to drink about a 2 liter of Coca Cola a day. I strickly drink LOTS of water now. BUT! My husband got a wild hair up his butt last night, and thought he would go the grocery store. He got this soade called COKE ZERO. It has ZERO calories, fat, etc.. Is this ok to drink, I wonder? Maybe a cup a day? I think it might help with my caffine withdraw headaches that I am having? Any thoughts?

As long as its not in excess, that kind of thing can be a good (not healthy) substitute for coke.  I feel your pain, I love coca cola.  So occasionally i have a diet coke or coke soda to ease that craving.  However if you use that as a replacement for your soda intake, there is a lot of sodium in those products, not to mention artficial sweetners that are no dice for me.
I used to drink soda all the time as if it was water. For about 7 years now we wont even buy it. The only time my kids will get it is if we are at someones home and its offered to them, and then they have to share a can lol.

Try your best to completely get off of soda. Soda has so many ingredients that could be harmful to your health. Have you tried drinking a cup of tea a day? That might also rid you of the headaches. Hope you feel better girl.

I bought some pre-made unsweet tea at the grocery store and it has 0 everything. I put a lemon slice in it, and its tolerable. I let myself have about maybe 2 small glasses of that a day. It really dosent do much for me. Everything else is water
If you want a natural sweetener, you could try stevia.

http://www.stevia.com/

It's not officially FDA approved, but I've found it in my local health food store. It's much much sweeter than table sugar, but it's calorie free and all natural. Worth a shot if you have a sweet tooth like me. I like it in my iced tea :)

There is actually talk that Coca-Cola will be looking to use a sweetener derived from stevia in the future.

I love Coke Zero (hate diet coke)  and the Cherry coke zero is even better.  I don't have it often but it's a great treat (tastes like the real thing).  Is 28mg of sodium a lot???? I have no clue about how much sodium is too much.
One can isn't excessive in sodium, but if you are someone who drinks a lot of soda, then it could add up.

If you only drink one can a day or just drink it occasionally, then I wouldn't be too concerned with the sodium intake.
I totally love coke zero and pepsi one. I have one like every other day but I drink water other than that.

No the sodium is not too much actually that is way low.

2400mg is the most they recomend for our daily total.
put it this way: if you pound regular soda normally, coke zero will help you break the craving.

sure, people will tell you "diet soda isn't good for you either" but if it's something that helps you drink less regular soda and lose weight.

Everything gives you cancer, it's just the way it is. So enjoy it. I'd rather get cancer down the road due to asparatame than be fat now.

OMG they have Cherry Coke Zero!!!!!!!!!! (runs out to go get some) I'm probably super late finding this out lol
IIi loveee coke zero too...how's it going amayou82 :)
I personally will just stick wtih diet coke since I'm more used to it.  I've never heard of cherry coke zero, but I've tried Diet Cherry Coke. I wasn't a huge fan of it though.

Artificial sweeteners are not healthy.  The sweetener in Coke Zero has not been studied extensively in humans and could still be shown to have all manner of negative side effects with long-term consumption.  It probably isn't going to kill you if you drink one occasionally, but I would definitely not drink two liters a day.

Coke Zero is still going to cause you to retain water and regularly consuming a sweet beverage (even if it is sweetened artificially) is going to perpetuate your cravings for sweet things.  In other words, you're  a lot better off drinking the water (and the headaches will pass in time, I promise!)

@ Mohogany, I'm good I had a weird morning though, anyway I'm eating my smart ones for lunch now, feeling better thank God.

I actually prefer (when I'm not dieting like a maniac) Wild Cherry Pepsi, so this Cherry coke ZERO is goin to be a decent alternative. I've also heard when you drink soda you should add more water I mean over the recomended amount, to compensate for that soda.
coke zero ROCKS
It is so weird to me..how does something have zero cals???

I don't get it?

=-)
Instead of calories they have nasty chemicals to make it taste decent :)
So basicly does this stuff just run right through you then?  Sorry to be icky...

=-)
Good Question Wormann. I hope we're not being tricked. That's why they say ignorance is bliss
i loveee the diet pepsi jazz stuff (caramel cream, strawberries and cream, and cherry and vanilla!). i drink wayyy too much of it though heh
