If being really cold boosts calorie burning, I'm going to waste away to nothing.

I am FREEZING in this office. I have a cube. My boss has an office. her office is warm because she has a heater. If i had a heater it would just go nowhere.

WHY CAN'T WE JUST ADJUST THE **** THERMOSTAT????

Buy yourself a snuggie. If anyone tells you you can't wear it, smother them with it.

i have a fleece over my legs and a knee-length sweater/jacket on. Is a snuggie warmer than that? I will buy it and expense it.

For me, if my feet are warm, the rest of me is too, so if you put the heater at your feet to keep those toesies toastie, then maybe the rest of you would be warmer.

Um, wear a jacket  and fingerless gloves??  Brings to mind Bob Cratchett, from Scrooge!Wink

I need to get some of those gloves.

Agree with getting a heater. If your feet and legs are warm, the rest of you will be much more comfortable. Our old office was freezing all year long. I would go to lunch in 90 degree weather and not turn on the AC and barely be warm before heading back to the office.

my whole floor complains about being hot but my office is always cold :(  sometimes I snuggle up to the computer because its so nice and toasty.  And I practically run to the printer when I print stuff off so I can enjoy the just printed warmth...mmmm!  why does everone act like I am crazy??  It's obvious I'm just COLD ;)

I'm freezing today too! It's a chilly 52F (11C)...the funny thing is, if this was April, I'd have my shorts on and sweating! But because it's July I'm frozen.

How is this right?!

i was avoiding this because i don't want to sound nitpicky.. but.. IF i steal the heater from the other girl, i know from past experience the heat does not touch my feet. It comes up the desk, into my face making me nauseous and then off into the ceiling. The only body part I DON"T need warmed is my face, but its all I get with the space heater in a cubicle in the middle of a giant room.

I need some hot pink legwarmers, with the silvery strands in them. That is what I need. I will be warm, and popular too.

Why would you set the thermostat to 68?? In winter, I get it. In summer though?

Get a space heater and put it under your desk so it is warming your feet and legs. Don't put it in the middle of the room.

Do I really come across this stupid?! =D

Yes, that is what I used to do but it just hits the top of the desk and flows out into my face.

why don't you just adjust the **** thermostat???  I don't think you are stupid and didn't think of it already, just curious as to why not?

Try some of those down booties you can get from an outdoors store.  It's an attractive look for the office.

I wish we were allowed space heaters at the office. I used to have one and loved the toastyness spilling out over my feet and rising up around my desk...  but they won't let me have one here in cubicle-ville.

All the women in the office are always freezing and then men are always boiling. We have thermostat arguements all the time. Except we don't have the control so they are pointless. I drink hot tea (the warm mug heats up my hands while I hug it) and wear a lap blanket and an oversized sweater too - all year round.

It is depressing to wear wool sweaters in July.

I also have the "smokers gloves" the mitten lid flips back to expose finger tips which makes typing much easier.

The only reason she isn't adjusting it is because she is teaching a lesson to the CAD department for complaining about the heat.

They discovered 2 units that were not hooked up into the building. Once they fixed that, CAD is not hot anymore, but she won't adjust the whole building because she wants them to freeze for a while like they made us (even though  it wasn't their fault that the units were not hooked up and it WAS hot down there)

I'm okay not getting sympathy, I just need validation that its the simplest occams razor fix to just nudge the damn lever up to 72.

Ya I do the tea thing too! and hug all the fresh-off-the-copier papers.

I go outside at lunch to warm up.

Until they "fixed" the unattached units, I was hot while the other 2 would still be freezing. I am not usually the cold one in the office. Only in winter at the one office b/c I was near a door.

Here you go - put the heater under your blanket so the heat stays there, and if the office burns down, you don't have to go to work tomorrow!

I can see how it would hit your legs and just travel upward.  Did you try putting the heater behind you, so that it flowed differently??

Really, though, fingerless gloves (you can get cheap ones and cut the fingers off yourself - if you can find them this time of year), extra socks, and long underwear!  And do as many jumping jacks as you can every time you go to the bathroom to get your body warmed a little.  I worked in a room where I could actually feel a breeze when the wind blew, which made winter miserable.  For some reason, it never occurred to me to get a space heater...duh!

 That is SO mean!!!

boss just called property management to come adjust. YAY YAY SUPER YAY!

I told her, when your hot-natured employees are wearing sweaters and fleeces, that should be your sign! lol. I just asked her "so, um, how long are we punishing them with the cold? I'm not sure I can escape hypothermia much longer!"

(they are always freezing. its new for me, just since they adjusted the 2 units)
