Hi
my feeet and hands are always near purple and freezing, in fact most of my body is but especially my hands and feet - my boyfriend calls me the ice cube.  what is this and what can it be from? I looked it up and it said it was POD and ways to prevent it but it doesnt quite sound like what i have and i already exericse and eat right which were ways of helping it. Some speculation is that it could be from my diet but i havent found anything from research that presents that they are related. Does anyone else have cold extremities and thinks its from their diet?

it could be bad circulation? that's typical of having cold extremeties.
here's an interesting article...  may be related to thyroid... check it out...

I have Raynauds Syndrome along with Sjogren's syndrome.  Sometimes when I get real cold my hands turn black.  Google it.
Since I've lost weight, my body is cold all over!  Especially after I eat a meal.  I've heard that the blood all flows to the stomach to aid with digestion.

I usually wear layers of clothing, and at night I am always wrapped in a blanket.  I sure hope the coming summer season will help to regulate things.

Once in a while at night, my feet are sooo cold, I have trouble sleeping.

I know many who have lost weight, all with the same complaints.  We have less insulation on our bodies to keep us warm.
I don't have any medical explanation for this but I also have the same problem with my hands and mostly my feet being cold. My husband also thinks I'm crazy I am constantly saying that my feet are cold. I have just recently moved from Michigan where its cold most of the year to California where the weather is wonderful all the time and I still have the same problem so I don't think its related to the weather. The only way I have been able to keep them warm is by keeping socks on my feet all the time or a blanket near by. Good luck and if its really bothering you it wouldn't hurt to ask your doctor about it the next time your in the office.
I don't really know about that; I've always had a very high metabolism no matter what I ate, whether junk, candy, soda, etc., and my hands have always been freezing, along with my feet. Even now that I'm eating healthier, I'm always cold. Could just be one of those things science can't explain yet. ^^;;;
I have the same problem but I'm pretty sure it's because of frostbite sensitivity (I live in a very cold climate and I had a bad habit of not wearing gloves or warm boots when I was younger.)
Oh my gosh!

I have that too!
I get really cold in my hands and feet but I don't feel it. I mean I don't have a lot of feeling in my toes but when they're hot or but  my whole foot turns purple and I don't even notice. Sometimes, my lower leg will turn purple too. I don't feel a thing though. Sometimes I'll even be really hot and my feet and hand are still ice.
The only time it hurts is when i touch warm water in the shower.
I don't get it.

I have the same prob. I attribute it to poor circulation. I've had thyroid issues in the past, but I recently had it checked again and no probs. I tell my bf "Cold hands, warm heart" all the time...he constantly teases me about it. LOL

when you loose weight you lose fat.

fat is a natural insulator...lose it and you have less insulation..hence the feeling cold.
Okay, this is going to sound impossibly woowoo but it works. You can raise your own body temperature; it's kind of a bio-feedback thing.

When I get under the covers at night, I just kind of form a mental image of heat radiating from me. Particularly my hands and feet - it takes a while, about five minutes, but you can make them warm and they stay warm.

Here's an experiment to prove to yourself that this works. Get one of those disposable thermometers and hold it between thumb and forefinger (or middle finger, whatever); keep reasonable contact for about three minutes, while reading a book or watching TV. You probably won't even be able to register a temp on the thermometer, which usually doesn't go below 97 degrees. Now do it again, only this time, spend the three minutes telling yourself "Heat is pouring off in waves; my thermostat is set on broast, I'm one hot tamale" or whatever you choose to indicate that you're hot, hot, HOT! At the end of three minutes, I typically have raised the temp of the ends of my fingers by at least one degree.
Oh, and for what it's worth, I used to have perpetually cold hands and feet until I learned this technique.
My husband has the same problem.  He is taking a supplement called "Schizandra Adrenal Complex".  He hasn't had to wear socks to bed since!  Check it out at your local health food store.
Yeah, for the past couple of weeks I've been feeling really cold, like I'm getting sick or something.  Maybe it's because I recently got sick and lost 5 lbs, but I swear this is unnatural.  Like today I'll wear a down jacket indoors in a 65 degree room and not feel the slightest bit warm, and I wore a sweatshirt to bed last night.  I think that it's probably because of bad circulation (especially if you're always sedentary).  Maybe if you exercise more you'll raise your heartrate and have better circulation.

I have been diagnosed with Raynaud's syndrome as well. It's not as bad as it used to be though. I think it's because when it is winter I stay inside more, when I was younger I used to go out more, and it affected me more, but even when I was younger in the summer my feet would turn blue. But it was the worst in the winter months.

Now I'm starting to wonder as I lose the weight if it will get worse?

you are underweight so since you have little body fat you are cold in the winter---not brain surgery
Okay some people said that exercise would help and i do, i have googled it before and reveiwed the RTS, but i already aact in all of the ways to improve it. After a good workout i am warm for sometime but it fades. Even in the summer if im inside, im blooody cold. And one said it was because i am underweight, i am but im not THAT thin. my bmi is like 17.3 or something. thats less than a point under 18 which is average. I hate it, im tired of having to spend a long time deciding what i am going to wear, how many layers, and having to spend time checking up on where i am going to be so i know what the temp will be like .Movie theatres for instance, i need a big jacket, honestly why do they demand on making those places seem like an ice box?
I sleep with a heating pad so i dont need to do the visual stuff but ill try it next time im indoors.

thanks for all the info and that article was good.
