Cold Pizza Cals??
Okay so I have a question it might be a dumb one...
So I weigh my food and I know if you weigh it before cooked it weighs more than after you heat it up. So which measurement should I go off of?
For example last night my family got a pepperoni pizza from Papa Murphy's but this morning I ate a slice cold instead of heating it up. My assumption is that the calories on here are based on a slice after it's heated?? So am I overestimating my calories or what?

The calories don't change. You're still eating the same amount of the pizza... it doesn't matter if it's hot or cold.

But the weight in grams changes when you weigh it if it is hot or cold.
I am wondering which amount of grams to go off of? I figure that the amount on Papa Murphy's website is after it is cooked? So that would mean I cook then weigh to be accurate?
When you heat up a pre-prepared pizza the weight changes from water lost as steam. The calories don't change unless you add something or take something away other than water. It's calories per ounce/gram that changes when you heat it because of the water lost.
Bottom line, the slice of pizza has the same calories whether it is eaten hot or cold.

When you add your calories here on calorie count you can add them based on the amount your food weighs which in turn makes your calorie intake more accurate.
If the same slice of pizza weighs more before you cook it and less after you cook it which weight do I use????

Pick one and use it. It doesn't matter.
The difference between the weight of a slice of pizza before and after it is cooked can't be that much but if you heated it last night and ate it cold this morning used the cooked weight. It won't have sucked the water back out of the air.
Cooking can make a difference for some foods, cooling and/or re-heating doesn't make any difference. Cold pizza today will weight the same as it did when it was hot last night, and if you re-heat it it'll still be the same.
Theoretically, if you heated it really hot repeatedly, it could lose some weight due to moisture loss. But what these other folks are trying to tell you is, there are no calories in the moisture that is lost. If Papa Murphy's offers a calorie per gram measure, you need to weigh the slice before you reheat it, not after.
There should not be any difference in weight between the original hot slice and after it's cold. Cooling does not make it lose moisture (though freezing for a long time will).
But, the fact is, even if they do offer the calories per gram, it's only an estimation. Error due to differences in preparation will make a much bigger impact than any small changes in weight due to moistue loss...so there's really no point in agonizing over it.

michachu- yes it does matter which one I use because the amount it weighs changes the amount of calories it has.
Surprisingly it does have a bit of a weight difference being cold or warmed up, from last night to this morning being cold and then being warmed up again!! Also I ate a smaller slice this morning than what I measured last night so I can't really use the same size to calculate... I guess I am just being to technical lol Thanks again!
Do you know how many calories the Pizza had before you cooked it? Do you know how much of it you ate today, i.e 1/8, 1/16 etc.? You don't need your scale you can use your calculator to figure the calories. Cooking does change the weight but it does not change the calories.
For example, if the Pizza had 1000 calories and you ate 1/16 of it then you ate 62.5 calories whether you cooked the pizza or not.
Yes I know all of those and how to figure it. That is how I used to count my calories until I found that most all food packaging or restaurant nutritional information has the grams on them which is equal to all other info on the package incluing calories. The grams are exact to the calorie intake. All prepackaged food has to weigh the amount on the package or more. So all the times I was basing my calorie consumption of 1/8 or 1 package estimates, I was really consuming more calories. The scale is what helps to make sure everything is exact. For me that is what works.
I also usually slice the pizza into smaller pieces than the seving size.

Absolutely, don't over-analyze it. The actual calories are just estimates anyway based on averages sent to a lab and would depend on if the lab tested before or after cooking. Probably after since you don't normally eat raw pizza, do you?
ha ha no no definitely not raw... meant cold pizza when you put it in the refrigerator and eat it cold versus after warming it up in the microwave.. the grams are less after heating it up so that was my question but I guess I am just over analyzing it... guess you can't go wrong with using the higher number anyway haha
The calories don't change so ignore the weight and put in the calories. This is ridiculous.
