Could that be a collarbone I see?
I think I just noticed a collarbone line in the mirror! I have always been far too obese or overweight to be able to see a collarbone. I'm 5'3 and 184 pounds, with still much more to lose, but I'm excited to finally see a part of my body I've never been able to see before!
For those of you losing weight or who have lost weight, at what weight were you finally able to see the start of collarbone definition?
Congrats!!! I'm 5'7 ish and really started to notice mine around 155 lbs and every now and then I catch myself touching my neck just to make sure its still there. My husband thinks I'm nuts but its my favorite thing about myself right now.
I noticed mine about 6 months ago, maybe at about 250 or so? (I am 5'8" and very pear shaped). It's subtle but definately there, especially when I raise an arm or something....I have been so thrilled to see it in pictures!
Congratulations on your weight loss! I think that collarbone definition varies a good deal from individual to individual, based on genetics, skeletal structure, fat and muscle distribution, or whatever. Even at my heaviest (5'4" and 180 lbs) I could still see collarbone, and I have noticed similarly protruding collarbones on a few of my relatives. On the other hand, I have bones (like my cheek bones or hip bones) that I never expect to see!
I am happy that you enjoy the collar bone you are starting to see!!!
...I on the other hand don't like to see my bones anymore--that is just me though.
It wasn't my collarbone I first saw, it was my veins, then my neck I noticed the tendons and stuff then my collar bone. Don't think I'll see much more than that. Oh yeah, I can see my.....well...its under my shrinking belly!
I totally get the thrill of seeing collarbones - I am 5'9", large-boned, and started seeing the c-bones at about 215. I now weigh 197 and my c-bones are still a major thrill. Sexy.
Before that, I was totally psyched when I could once again cross my legs - maybe at about 225? When I'm gaining weight and start sitting like a good ol' boy on the porch swing, I know I've entered that really miserable world of the severely obese.
I totally get the leg crossing celebration. I think I hit that at about 197 or so and at first could only cross right over left. In the low 190s I was able to comfortably cross left over right.
You are correct theholla; at 5'8" and 172, I am still unable to see my collarbone.
I do recall seeing it at a lower weight, but can't remember what that was. I do look for it every once in a while...hoping....I can feel it quite easily though, so I think I'm ever so close to the visual! LOL! I am happy to report however, that in the last couple pounds or so my double chin has misteriously disappeared!! *jumping up and down like a clown* Needless to say it will not be missed!
I started seeing collarbone in the 240s and it is quite distinct at 215. I'm 5'9".
Noticing new definition is always nice. I started seeing my collarbone a while ago, maybe after 30-40 lbs of loss.
My collarbones are weirdly visible, not like a skinny person, but much more apparent than 14 lbs ago (It seems to be the only area I notice a difference). I'm small but it makes sense- my bones seem big for my petite height (5'0) but I'm a size 7 in shoes and my wrists and fingers are medium- I could never quite get my fingers around my wrist.
My collerbone is the last thing to ber prominant because I lose weight more in my hips and legs. Even when I'm 5'9 and 123 pounds it still looks healthy because my collerbone doesn't protrude.
My collarbone was one of the first things I saw! I'm still really overweight and have a long way to go, but that first forty pounds I swear came all off my butt and my chest (not my breasts, but my chest area). My thighs and hips have barely moved at all, but for some reason I can see all these bones in my chest. Sigh. ![]()
I remember a little while ago thinking "what is that??" when I placed my hand on my hip & I could feel my hip bone! Its not really prominant, but I cant remember the last time I could actually feel it there! With me its my shoulder-blades that are first to 'reappear'!
