So I am a freshman in college this year, and i know most threads concerning college eating deal with what to eat/ how to eat healthy, i dont really have problems with eating healthy, i guess the same food gets kind of boring but it's manageable.  plus i think its kind of easier not to over eat, because once your out of the cafeteria you aren't surrounded by food so it helps with snacking.  but my problem is the sodium.  does anyone else feel like they are eating just a ton of sodium?  i've been thinking about it and i just feel so gross because i can tell that i am eating too much of it, but i really feel like there's not much i can do about it.  so just any ideas or if anybody else is in the same boat as i am

Hello :-)

It's hard to tell whether you are having too much sodium or not because different people need different amounts and also foods that you don't prepare yourself you can't really be sure how much salt is in them... does the food at the canteen taste like it has lots of salt in it? Can you give an example of what you eat in a typical day?

If they have a salad bar and things which aren't played around with too much like baked potatoes, steamed veg and plain meats then it is easy to avoid too much salty food. If you only get things like lasagne, pizza, processed meats, and dressed vegetables then I guess they would contribute a lot!
