Where did you go to College?

Quote  |  Reply
Hi everyone,
I'm currently a freshman in college but really not liking my school as much as I thought I would.I'm not exactly sure what I want to major in so it makes it that much harder to consider other schools.
I was wondering where people went to college, what they majored in and what they now do for a living.
Any response would help,thanks!

i went to texas tech university, 4 years, have a degreein Finance

i work for the government, basically auditing banks...making a decent salary plus govt benefits and tax free expense reimbursements (i made 8 grand extra last year from expenses :D)

hey i think its fun :D
Im just about to compleate my first year of my BA in Political Science. Sometimes i wonder if what im doing is the right thing, but you never know unless you try. The only problem is school is so expensive. Im not familiar with the job situation where you live, but where i live plumbers, welders, electricions, fitters, anything to do with the oilfeild or any trade makes more money than a doctor. (Once they're a journeyman/women) Thats what makes it frustrating to me because i could go to school for 3 months and then come out and start at 19-25 an hour, and im just as good with my hands as iam with my mind. I think its important to remember that education is never a waste, and people usually end up switching careers 3-5 times in their life. It would seem that the days when people actually stayed with a company for 25+ years is over....
I went to SFU in Vancouver and I dropped out at the 2nd year. I didn't like it and thought I could make the same money as a U grad then why bother. True about the money thing but it's a regret in my life that I'm don't have a degree. I mean, it's not a good feeling when everyone around you is at least a BA and I have "some college". Definitely stick with it. It's not what you really learn in lectures, it's the whole experience that matters. These 4 years will be your happiest years in adulthood. Join some activities, sorority thing if you are interested.
I go to The University of Bolton :D

Psychology (hons) BSc - in progress, just about to finish 2nd year (3 year degree)
Counselling Concepts Level 2 - completed
Counselling Skills Level 3 - doing next year
Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Level 4 - doing after i graduate from my degree
I went to Eastern Kentucky University (just south of Lexington KY). I majored in Psychology and minored in French.

I HATED the town and HATED the people at the university. The only reason I stayed was because I looooved my psych professors. They were the best.

I'm looking at grad school at the University of Cincinnati.
i graduated from george mason university in fairfax virginia w/ a degree in social work. the last two years i had two kids and now accepted to ohio university/athens for my masters. w/ my degree i plan on working for child protective services or as a counselor.
I never learned how to read.....
I went to UVA and majored in Economics.  I worked for IBM as a consultant after graduation (doing all things Finance really) and now I work for the Government in a finance department.  Definitely stick with college--but switch to another college if you don't think the school you're in is right for you.
I went to Oklahoma State University and got a BS in Animal Science.  Then I went another four years and got a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine - great college town - big fun - the days of streaking ;-) and then I worked for the next 20 year - love my profession.  Decided to take some business courses in accounting and economics and went back to college at night to the University of Houston - and got a Masters in Business Administration...was a great move from a business standpoint.  Getting a little restless now, and though I am not sure what I will do with another degree - I am starting to Law School in about 6 weeks, at night, while I work days.  You are never too old or too young to get an education.  Diversity has been the key to keeping me interested in the world around me!  Stay in school unless you are just wasting money there..
My education is really cobbled together over the years.

I attended the Philadelphia Museum School of Art 1960 - 63.  Then Philadelphia Community College - 1970-75.  After that it was Immaculata University, 1985-86, and a Penn State satallite campus, at night 1995-1997 - still no degree, but will be auditing art classes as a senior citizen at Immaculata.

It's been quite a trip!  And it proves that your mind never needs to stop growing.
Graduated from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri. Majored in Social Work (not a rich profession but very satisfying) Currently work part time for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
