Any College Kids Trying To Lose Weight??

Quote  |  Reply
I'm a Sophmore in college and have been fighting the freshman fifteen for a while now. Just curious to talk to some other people in college and see what they eat, cook, and do!

So I have definitely been fighting the same thing. I have no idea how to cook healthy and live healthy with such a hectic lifestyle. AND I obviously can't afford to purchase ALL health foods...hows this supposed to work?!?

YOU ALL SHOULD JOIN THE GROUP *COLLEGE STUDENTS TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT* IT WOULD BE PERFECT FOR ALL OF YOU! :]

Yes, I'm a second semester freshman and I've been trying to lose weight since November 2008. I didn't gain the full freshman 15, but only about 10. I got back on track with my healthy eating routines and daily exercise and lost 17 lbs ( 10 over a month and 7 over two weeks). A little advice from me is to 1.) eat healthy without skipping meals 2.) exercise at least 5 times a week 3.) stay motivated. If you find that you haven't lost any weight yet, don't give up. This only helps you to fix the problem, and you'll find that the next time you step on the scale, the lbs will be shedding off, if not fast, consistantly. Good Luck!!!

I'm also a second semester freshman. I stopped skating sometime in june and for about 5 months after that I noticed I had gained about 10/13 lbs. One day I looked at myself in the mirror and literally started to bawl. haha So i started working out six days a week. That may seem a lot but as the weeks went by I was noticing the changes. Now I just go 5 times a week.

But anyhoots, now I'm back down to my happy weight. I changed my eating habits completely. I rarely snack and have watched my portions. If I want cake or ice cream I share one serving with my twin sister. Its great!

I find stocking potatoes, cheerios, some fruit and veggies is helpful. If you want a sweet treat I recommend stocking some small biscotti. They are italian cookies. Only 110 calories.

Also prunes, some hard candy, and pasta is nice. Small portions are possible, but it takes some training. After your body gets used to eating a little less (takes about two weeks) it becomes very easy. I also recommend reading Mirielle Guiliano's "French Women Don't Get Fat". Really stick to her principles and whenever you think you will have a moment of weakness read a passage. It's a great motivater!!
