!College people looking to lose 20lbs for Christmas vacation!
Hey everyone! I'm Jackie and I'm in my first year as an art student. My goal right now is to lose 24 more pounds by December 23rd (family Christmas party)! That will put me at 199 pounds. I come from a huge family and I really want them all to see me in a new light. Plus, I want to look nice in our yearly picture for once! ![]()
Now who's with me? I want to do this with girls my age who are going through similar stresses at college.. So let's get this party started with our stats! I weigh in every Sunday so that's when I'll be updating

I saw your comment and just wanted to say I'm rooting for you. i43reasonswhy143 and that the best way to loose weight is to educate you're self not go for the desperate bing and purge and going hungry. You can't do that stuff for the rest of your LIFE! Think on that and if you think in terms of being a certain weight for the rest of your life maybe think the way I do.. that i want to be HEALTHY for the rest of my life and hopefully that will motivate you into working out and doing little extra stuff to burn calories like park further away from stores. Think positively when you eat healthy things, don't make yourself feel bad if you cheat everyonce in a while we are ALL human! We ALL struggle with weight and think that's the only thing that makes use beautiful. I cuss at culture norms and tell it off with the fact that I'm not "loosing weight" I'm getting healthier and think I'm beautiful the way I am and the heathier I get by eating good foods and doing that extra sit up (whether i loose weight or not) makes me that much more beautiful. I know it's hard... but know everywoman worries about this stuff especially the pretty ones and don't make yourself feel to alone :)

I gained 10 over last semester I'd like to loose 10
If any one has suggestions of what they do that'd be great cause I barely get any sleep....
I work out like 10 minuates about everday (I can spare 10 minuates) and when I sit and read my books I'll set it on a treadmill and walk uphill while I read... that's the best I can think of and the only way to fit my work out into my hectic 5 course schedule AHHH! :)

My biggest advice is find a way to fidget all the time. Wiggle your toes in your shoes, tap your fingers on your legs, etc. It can burn hundreds of calories (about 350!) every day if it's constant.
Also, portion control. It sounds dumb, but bring a measuring cup with you to the caf. Trust me--it's college! Nobody's really gonna care!
Try to do 10 minutes of activity in the morning. Get up just 10 minutes earlier and stretch, do yoga, do some situps/pushups, jog in place. If you do that and alway eat a good breakfast!!! it will jump-start your metabolism throughout the day.
Other than that, bring snacks with you to eat every 3-4 hours between class (or in class if your prof lets you). Apple slices with some peanut butter is a good example.
And log every calorie. It will help you gain a sense of everything you're eating, what you can replace or cut out, and how much is a good portion of your foods.

I would not be able to concentrate on my homework, because i would always be fidgeting, always be getting up to get something... finally i found out that I can concentrate on the work much better after I get a good workout at the gym... And then I would hit the gym again at 12 am! I like working out that late, it just works out better for me... it's kinda weird.
But I don't know netgalaxy1, that might not work for you, since you are not getting too much sleep... but it does help to put the books down for a bit.

Not only do I wish to lose some weight, but I also want to change my eating - completely. I will focus on nutrition, and quite eating just to push the pain of everyday life away for a few minutes. + I used to be in very good shape - skipping the story between then and now - now I'm in horrible shape. So, I'll quite smoking, work out hard, and reach my goals. I started very recently, so I imagine I'll still lose very quickly in the beginning if I stick to my plan.

Ah, a personal cheerleader! Well, now I'm gonna have to quite, to prove that I'm worthy. I've actually been trying to quite for a very long time. In my life I've always gotten addicted to all different kind of things very fast, and it is always hard to stop. But even though my dopamine level might not be high, I can beat this awful habit - and I'm going to. So yes, I'll keep you updated - and thank you.
Well I weighed myself this morning and I was 223 on the dot but that's still good. I lost 2 pounds at the beginning of last week and just stayed at this weight ever since. Hopefully next week my update will be 2 pounds less!

I'm SO happy right now. My body had to recover this last week from being in starvation mode, and I actually GAINED weight, but now I'm right about where I started before the gain, so I feel great about that!

To answer your question, I don't own a scale so I weigh in at the gym, I try to weigh in at least every Monday. I went through and added everyone who wanted to be a part of this, I try to keep up on my journal and other peoples but I am very busy! Anyways, I try to comment at least once a week so yeah

Alright, first weigh in yesterday, I'm 154.7. That's a little depressing to me, but yesterday I also started my re-dedication to eating healthy, so hopefully it'll be coming down quickly :) I'm also recovering from an injury (which is how my weight loss got derailed in the first place) so I'm trying to get used to walking for exercise instead of going to the gym, which I actually kind of miss. How is everyone else doing? Are we going to be posting progress here or just support?

So how has everyone being doing so far? eating healthy? I've been okay...i only drink water, no juice or anything. The hardest thing for me to get rid of was soda, i love coke, but i made sure none is in the fridge and i have no want for it. I've been eating pretty healthy, no junk food, ocassionally i eat nuts which are high in fat but good fats, oh im also a vegetarian so that makes it harder i think. My bf eats crap all the time and he eats around me and its annoying cause then i want it too but he is pretty skinny, hate him. So far so good, i think ive lost 2-3 lbs in a week if its accurate, but the hardest part is to keep losing consistently so we'll see how that goes. I haven't even gone shopping yet cause i want to go shopping after i lose the weight, then i will spend tons probably lol
QUESTION: what kind of snacks does everyone eat in between meals?

One thing i heard and read and i think is true that you should get 7-8 hrs of sleep a night to lose weight. If you don't it messes with your hormones or something like that and can prevent you from losing weight just like stress does to you, so sleep up and most likely the weight will come off faster. At least thats what ive been doing, i used to have a hard time falling asleep but i've found that when i work out everyday i get tired earlier and sleep great!

Fairydust125, yeah I had to give up pop too. BUT I do have one or two a month as a treat. But I consider it like a dessert that I just drink with my meal, LOL. It just keeps me from feeling deprived.
For snacks I like popcorn the best!

Me 2 i love buying Smart Pop, to keep me from staving on my long trips to school on the train and so i wont overeat when i have dinner, i read that in Womens health mag. They said its okay to snack to keep from binging later on, as long as you snack on healthy snacks, that has kept me going so far
