Hello! I am starting a club for college students. It is hard going off to college and making the right food choices...I think we can support each other and talk about healthy alternatives to food choices. I am going to be a senior in college next year and I am trying to lose that weight I gained from college.
A little about me, I'm a biomedical engineer...I'm recently engaged and I love to drink (which is horrible if you are dieting)
about my weight...
I'm 5'10" medium build
started at: 172lbs
currently at: 140lbs
want to be: 140lbs <~~ made my goal!!! took ~6 months
Since College/Classes are done for summer...How did everyone do with the diet??

I'm not sure if an old guy like me is allowed to sneak into this ...
I'm a graduate student and I'm trying to lose the weight that I gained
in college. I was studying for my phd qualifying exams this last
semester and I was literally reading a book-a-day. I stopped all
exercise and ate a lot of comfort food. I'm now 20 pounds over my
ideal weight. At least I passed my exams!
My stats: 27 years old, 6'2", 195 lbs. I have a fantasy of reaching 175 pounds, which is what I weighed in my freshman year. Hopefully, I can undo the last 10 years of bad eating. (Yikes, that makes me feel really old to say!).

Hey Everyone!
I am a grad student at the State University of New York at Potsdam. I'm doing my Master's of Science in Teaching.
Height: 5''2
Start Weight: 154lbs
Current Weight: 140lbs
Goal Weight: 120 lbs
I am managing quite well in my dorm room, becuase I control *all* the food. I have no tempting foods. I simply don't buy them. I have my mini-fridge, microwave, and toaster. My life-lines are my measuring cups, and digital food scale.

I am a college student too, going into my sophomore year. Last year I gained "the freshman 15"... how typical! But now I know that all the nutrition facts for the food on campus are posted online by Dining Services, and I've got 2 whole weeks of dieting experience already, so by the time I go back to school I will be SO sensible about everything. It will be amazing.

Hey there!
I'll be a college junior this year and am definately going to stay away from the caf...which definately killlllled me last semester. I had pretty easy courses and my friend and I had unlimited caf access...and a lot of free nights to go out....we both gained about 15 pounds in two months YIKES!!!!
Luckily I've lost it all this summer (cutting off the pizza and drinks :-)) but it will be so hard to stay this way! I'm going to London for fall semester and fear I won't be able to stop myself from eating horribly and won't have time to work out....ooh noooo
But CC is great...so much more accurate than other counters I've tried!

Hamline University senior here! Unfortunately, I had my encounter with the "freshman 15", the "sophomore scarf fest" and the "junior jelly belly." Currently, I am working on turning the last 3 years around and be back to where I was before I started college, and then some.
Like many people here, my living situation has changed this year, so hopefully it will make it easier to stay in step with my new healthy lifestyle.
Age: 21
Height: 5'2"
Starting weight: 184 (since last year, not since I started CC)
Current weight: 156
Goal weight: 118

I wanna join too! ^^
I'm becoming an undergrad freshman this september, so I'm jumping on the healthy-eating....island? early to get into tip-top shape. It may just be a lucky coincidence, but doesn't healthy eating help with studies?
I'm planning on being a math major, with a classical Latin minor.
I'm going to be in Boston too! Soooooo looking forward to getting out of a small southern town and living it up in the city!
I also spent last summer doing research at MIT. I suppose you know the MIT drinking song then?
Height: 5'4
Starting weight: 181
Current weight: 165-168 (depending on when I get on the scale.)
Goal weight: 128

alrighty, i'll throw in my hat. :-)
i'm a full-time student, but i'm 36 and really just starting my new major in nursing. (i have a bunch of years ahead of me in order to become a nurse practitioner.)
i have steadily gained weight over the years, and i'm just starting to lose some weight in earnest. i am starting a walk-to-run 5k program as well as keeping track of my caloric intake. i hope to lose 30-40 lbs over the course of the next year or so. slowly but surely!
my biggest challenge is trying to make sure i keep my physical self a priority while going to school full-time and working part-time.
i wish everyone luck!

Hi all! I'm a 20 year old music education major heading into my junior year.
I'm only 5'3 and weigh 185lbs. I want to get down to 140.
This is my first year living off campus and away from the horrible dining commons food so hoping all will go well.
take care,
amanda

Ok, so I'm going to a party tonight...any suggestions how I can stay on my diet and still drink?!?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
Fire,
You *can* drink, and stay within your calorie limit. A shot of hard liquor (vodka, rum, etc), is about 65 calories. Therefore, stick with a rum & diet coke, and it's only 65 calories a drink! BUT, you have to measure those shots. Keep control of your portions.
Make sure to leave room for 180 calories, and you can have three drinks! That will definitely suit your partying needs.

Hey guys! So many ppl have warned me about the freshman 15 that I'm starting to think I should worry too even though I run cross country! haha So these last 3 weeks I've tracked my calories to learn about what I eat. This should be good for a bit of accountability, eh? Ok, so me:
5'2" and muscular
currently: 116.5 lbs, 14.5% body fat
goal: 115 lbs, 12% body fat

Hi just wanted to introduce myself. I am a college student and as we all know the freshmen 15 is a bummer, well mine was the freshmen 20, sophomore 25, and the junior 15 to total about 60lbs a big bummer!!!! I have struggled with my weight all my life and now it is time for me to get my butt in gear and lose some weight the healthy way. I think that this forum will help me stay on track and stay motivated. Thanks for creating it.

Hi, I'm just starting my second year of CC and I'm trying to get rid of the 20 lbs I gained last year! I'm currently an art major and I'm constantly surrounded by thin, artsy types. However, I joined for my health and I'm not trying to impress anyone but myself! I hope this forum will keep me motivated!! This club is a great idea, thank you!
