College Students

Quote  |  Reply
Hello! I am starting a club for college students. It is hard going off to college and making the right food choices...I think we can support each other and talk about healthy alternatives to food choices. I am going to be a senior in college next year and I am trying to lose that weight I gained from college.

A little about me, I'm a biomedical engineer...I'm recently engaged and I love to drink (which is horrible if you are dieting)

about my weight...

I'm 5'10" medium build

started at: 172lbs

currently at: 140lbs

want to be: 140lbs <~~ made my goal!!! took ~6 months

Since College/Classes are done for summer...How did everyone do with the diet??

Hey all. Well since this seems to be a restarted post ill add myself on here.

Height: 5' 6" somewhat larger frame

Start Weight: 172.6 lb

Current Weight: 162.6

Goal Weight: 125 - 130

Im really happy with the 10 lb I have lost so far, but I have seen no difference in my body shape which is really frustrating. Im not really a person who cares what the numbers say, I just care about how my body looks! So lack of change is beginning to frustrate me!
Yep college can be a struggle to eat well..thats for sure.  In high school I was super athletic in basketball, volleyball, track. But then college came. Freshman year I gained weight due to eating crap, no exercise, drinking (stopped drinking to excess now, thank God).  2nd semester of freshman year I tried the whole starving thing, lost 15 lbs in a month, but then summer came and I gained it all back. (of course)

Sophomore year...gained like 20 or more lbs (due to binge eating, emotional eating, stress, ect) ..got to around 165..Came home to summer depressed, hating my body...but decided to get healthy. Lost about 10 lbs over summer and have lost about 15 more since the start of school.  Only like 5 more lbs to my goal weight, but I think thsee last few are gonna be tough considering I haven't weighed this little in what seems like an eternity.  After that I want to continue to maintain.

Goal weight: 135 .......my height: 5'8

Anyone have people thinking you don't eat just because you won't go get icecream, pizza, or whatever?  I'm glad my roommates are healthy eaters but my other friends....are no way healthy eaters.
Hey to any of you still using the site...My name's Angela and I'm new around here...I'm in my third year of Honours Biology & Biotechnology...
I've ALWAYS been a very big girl but I successfully had a taste of the thinner life in highschool and want it back again!!!
I'm shaving my head for cancer in April and would love to drop a few pounds by then for sure...definately at my goal weight by my 22nd birthday (Feb, 2008) but the sooner the better!

5'7.5", large frame

Starting Weight : ~300 lbs. (Totally guessing! -  I'll get back to ya)

Goal Weight: 180 lbs.

Also if anyone out there is in Saskatoon or wants to swap vegetarian diet recipes/tips gimme a shout!!

Hey, I just joined cause I keep half-assed trying to loose weight and then getting distracted. So... hopefully this works. I'm a senior and haven't been able to get rid of my freshman 15 throughout college... plus the extra 5 pounds I was lugging around highschool. I also started dancing in college and have gotten really serious with it, and dance is NOT known for good body images. SO I'm trying to eat and loose weight healthily (ie NOT to be as screwed up about food as most dancers I know.)
Height 5'6" small build
Current weight: 142 (okay, but hard on my knees for all those plies)
Goal weight:125
Let's see if I get anywhere!
This is really interesting!  I thought this site was full of middle aged adults trying to take off some weight.  It's nice to know there are other college students on this site trying to lose the weight too.  I am currently a Junior at Virginia Tech studying Biochemistry.  Just this past year alone I gained over 10 pounds.  I think everyone agrees when I say that I want a nice new tight body by the time bikini season starts.

I'm 5'6" small build

started at 148lbs

currently at 145lbs

my goal is 135 for now but once I reach it, it might change.

Good luck to everyone!

Hello! I am a college student too!

age 24

5'6'' medium build

starting at 179

currently 175 (I also lost an inch around the waist too! )

my goal is 136!

I'm going to Pima Community College for an Associate of Science for Transfer to the University of Arizona. I want to get into Geology. I hope to teach high school some day too.

Take Care!
Hello I am a college student too

age 28 (yeah I know I am old but I made a couple mistakes in the past so now I am making up for it)

5'7"  Large build

started at: 265

currently at: 265 (just started)

month goal: 255

final goal: 200

I am attending LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas and I am majoring in Computer Science.  I am hoping that I will be able to start going to the gym pretty soon but I am not sure if I will be able to.  For those of you students who eat at school how do you keep it healthy?
Well, luckily my mom takes me to the store and lets me stock up on alot of healthy stuff to keep in my room.  I usually only eat at the dining hall once a day, most likely for lunch.  Usually a sandwhich on whole grain bread, turkey or peanut butter.  Otherwise I stick to the salad bar, broth-based soups, or cereal.  I try to stay away from anything the kitchen staff prepares themselves, because you can never be sure of the calories in that stuff.  The only time I ever eat it is on the weekends for brunch, because it is delicious.  Good luck!
C'est une belle maison quebeclibre ! J'aime l'hiver.   *sorry, my french is a little rusty

Hello everyone, currently a junior at SUNY Albany in New York, studying Mathematics.  After dragging my feet with the diet thing for a while I finally decided to start.  It's only been a couple days but hopefully I'll stick with it.

Age: 21

Height: 5' 6''

Starting weight: ~220lbs or so

Want: < 200lbs by the end of the spring semester
Hey everyone.

I'm a senior at Oklahoma State University, taking the semester off to get my health back on track, actually.  European History major with an Art History minor

Age:  21

Height:  5'8", medium

Starting weight:  327

Current weight:  293

Goal:  200...to begin with....

And to think...most of that weight I gained within a 6 week period!  Yikes!  Now you see why I'm taking a semester off to get back on track.  The curse of bad genetics.
Hi, I'm Megs, 18.  I will be going to college next year... can I play in your club too?  Hehehe.  I'm actually using college as my motivator... I'm hoping that by picturing myself on campus thinner and more importantly healthier, I'll be more apt to stick with this lifestyle change.  I'm 5'5'', 168 (but hopefully on weigh-in tomorrow morning I'll be 166).  Anyway, good luck to all of your in your health-seeking endeavors.  <3 Meg
Just wanted to join the group, I am a student at MacMurray College, I just started using the website so I am real excitied to get started and lose some weight. I think that being over weight can cause people to be shy, well at least it does for me and I am 20 years old and want to be confident and outgoing, so improving myself image will help out alot with that.
I just have to say that the dinning hall, is the worse place to eat at this school, all there ever is fried foods! And is stinks to have to buy food on my own but oh well guess it will be worth it!
o def i started college at 160 and gaines 30 poundss haha so i would def love to get back to my freshman body
Howdy All-
I'll be graduating in June from UC San Diego with a degree in Molecular bio, and was hoping to drop some weight before job interviews (first impressions and all).  Had success with CC last year, but gained every one of the 40 lbs I lost back.  Trying again, because I know that itwas CC that helped me lose the weight.  This time for good!
