COMMITTED LOSERS [Group Open Again!]
Hi guys! I'm baaaack! Basically spent about 6 months UNDOING all of the weightloss you all helped me with last year and am now at a whopping 148 lbs, 8 lbs more than what I started with last year. I feel disgusting and totally ashamed. Time to get back on track. Hope to be down to 130 by the end of the summer. Anyone new want to join me for weekly weigh-ins and daily motivation? Anyone still around from last summer?
[OP from last summer: I've been doing weekly weigh-ins in a couple of CC forum groups, but no one seems to want to offer support and motivation on any other day than weigh-in day! Everyone checks in about once a week and that's it. I need an active forum that I can turn to every day for inspiration. I think it would be best to limit such a group to about 15 really committed members with similar stats and goals. I'm looking for people who can check in and post regularly, people who turn to this group instead of binging, people who will share their weaknesses, rants, raves, progresses, and plateaus as often as possible.
I'm proposing that we weigh-in on FRIDAYS and that we keep "weighing-in" metaphorically every other day of the week. Who's with me?]
yay for short girls! oh and some about me, i posted h/w/gw earlier but..
diet: anything and everything, trying to focus on portion control and start eating healthier
exercise: well, i was going every day and running on the elliptical for 45 min - 1 hr then some weights, but i have been slacking lately due to finals :(
weaknesses: same as tod! hahah
occupation: student
hobbies: baking, horseback riding, soccer, snowboarding
um, it's almost 5 AM. i think i'm done studying for the night.. hehe. i have to wake up in two hours. uh oh.
Can I join? I really need somewhere where I can read and post daily or more. I am in a couple of other groups, but they are very intermittent in discussions. I am on CC a lot and would like to get familiar with a group.
CW - 149.6
GW - 127
Age - 51
Ht - 5'4"
Exercise - Works out at the gym 3-4 times a week with cardio (treadmill and elliptical primarily); stationary bike 1-2 times a week; successfully completing week 1 of 100 push up challenge
Diet - Much improved in the 5 months I have been with CC. Have only lost 3 lbs since Jan, but have given up junk, fast food, and a lot of sugar. Lean toward fruit, vegs, cottage cheese, yogurt, water ( and lots of it). Try to keep around 1400, but usually closer to 1600. I don't lose at 1600, just maintain. I need to get better at this.
Life - Currently work full-time as a nurse; 12 hour shifts Fri, Sat, & Sun. Married 26 years to the same great man. Two daughters- oldest graduated college Dec '08 and youngest May '09. Both have jobs and live on their own.
Weaknesses - salt. I love salty foods.
Hobbies - Completing final year in Grad school for a master's in nursing. Very stressful!
CC gives me something to do late at night and early in the morning. I love knowing that others struggle like I do. At first, I was very discouraged at my lack of weight loss, but I have focused instead on the gain in healthy eating and behaviors. I slowly have given up bad eating habits and improved my exercise behaviors. At 51, I think this is good. This past weekend, my oldest daughter (23 years old) challenged me to run a 5 k route with her. I am not a runner--never have been. I kept up with her stride for stride; even pushed her a little at the end. That really jazzed me. The months on the treadmill without the weight loss is working. Ultimately, I don't care what my weight is; I just want to lose my paunch; I have carried this gut weight since my 30's. I do measure once a month. At last measurement in April, I had lost 7 inches overall. That's good!
I love CC. I have used the tools and know so much more about me. I am curious to see if I can maintain my regimen during the summer semester. I will be taking two grad courses. That's a tough schedule with work, too. That's why I really need a strong support group that is online a lot.
Here's to getting to know everyone

I want in! I did this successfully after my last baby and lost nearly 60 pounds from my full term pregnant weight. I told everybody I knew about how helpful this site was.
Well, baby #5 is 4 weeks old and it is time to buckle down! Luckily this time I only have about 30 more pounds to lose to feel really healthy. This seems like a really great group for support.
Age: 29
Height: 5'4"
Current weight: 178
Goal Weight: #1- 165 by July 1st, and #2- 150 by October 17th
Diet: well balanced family meals???
Exercise: starting with slim in 6, and then will start training for an October Half Marathon in a few more weeks
Weaknesses: sweets, baked goods, fatigue
Occupation: stay at home mom
Hobbies: Running, Counting Calories, Cake Decorating, Playing with my kids, Dating my husband, Blogging
So I went for a 3 mile walk/run-it felt really good. A few weeks ago I twisted my ankle and was on crutches for a few days I thought the ankle was feeling better but after my walk my ankle was-and still is- killing me. Maybe I pushed it a little too much too soon. I did not attempt the 30 day shred because I know the jumping jacks will kill my ankle-will try walking again today.
So for my first 2 days I have to say I didn't do too bad-had a 500 cal deficit for yesterday. Guess we'll see how it goes today!!!!!!!
So many of you are very inspiring, as you all have lost so much weight!!
Aperfectblink and Eugenie we are very similar in our current/goal weights and height! It will definitely be more motivating, to me, to see both of you progress! What are your eating habits like?
Wyo, a 3-mile walk/run is great! I wish that I could run! I hope that your ankle feels better soon. A 500 calorie deficit is great!
As suggest by Tod, here's my full info (all bundled together for one post):
age: 25
height: 5'1.5
current weight: 125-130
goal weight: 115 by June 25/105 (don't have date for this; will see how the first weight comes off before deciding)
diet: horrible - I eat veggies alot, but I also binge after drinking and eat the worst foods like Taco Bell, loaded fries, Mcdonalds, etc
exercise: not so much at the moment due to a foot operation. I'm sporadic about going to the gym, but once I get into a fitness routine, I usually keep it up for a couple of months. I want to change that and keep it up for a lifetime, though. When at the gym, I typically do the elliptical for 30 min - 1 hr. I also try to incorporate crunches or some other type of ab exercises. My goal is to do more weight training.
weaknesses: ALCOHOL. I eat too much after I drink, which usually reverses any calorie deficits that I had throughout the prior week.
hobbies: TV, reading, crafts, movies, anything with friends, going out to eat, dancing, traveling
About the 30 day shred: can you do it adequately enough with limited space to move?
Update: I've decided to start eating small meals throughout the day. I got into a habit of not eating until after 4 or 5 PM at night - sometimes even later. At first, this seemed good, because I figured that I'd keep my metabolism up with coffee (I'm still not actually sure if this really works), but I then began to eat crap later at night and just associate night with eating. While I love being able to "look forward to" a feast at night, I think I'll have greater success in snacking throughout the day. I wake up pretty late, but I'm going to try and eat six meals/day.
So far today, I've had cereal w/FF milk, coffee (equal and cream), and a couple bites of mac n cheese for a total of about 250 cals.
Hey, hope everyone is doing WELL today! It sounds like this is a group of committed exercisers - I hope to be inspired by you all.
I actually stepped on the scale and I have only gained one lb - phew. I have been good with snacking so far: two fig newtons and a cup of watermelon.
icedeyz I think we posted almost simultaneously!
I do the 30 day shred on my yoga mat and I never have to use up any more space than that. For level one anyway. I intend to try level 2 tonight.
Wow, I am so in. This sounds perfect because I'm looking to get into an exercise routine that I can stick with.
Age: 19
Height: 5'9 (I'm a tall one, sorry :-P)
CW: 225
First GW: 200 by July 5
Overall GW: 149
Diet: I try to eat good and healthy, but let's admit.. I'm in college and I'm broke.. and a pack a ramen noodles is so much cheaper than a salad.
Weakness: chocolate and snacking
Hobbies: TV, reading, going out
Vegetarian, lol that's funny we posted like 2 secs apart :) Wow, you only take up the space of a yoga mat? Maybe I should try this 30 day shred that everyone is talking about!
It's like squats, lunges, pushups, ab exercises, weights for your arms, and then jumping jacks, skipping without the rope, some boxing, butt-kicks ... all pretty "on the spot" stuff.
So today went well for me...considering. I had a deficit of 300 calories. I know, I know...not many, but I think it's good considering that I am unable to exercise until the doctor gives the OK. If I'd exercised, I'd probably be looking more at a deficit of at least 700 calories, but that will come in time. Tomorrow I'm aiming for a deficit of 600 calories, and I'll be able to find out if I can take walks, at least, or something.
Dinner tonight was yummy. Leftover ratatouille with a few Rosemary & Olive Oil Triscuits crumbled over top. (I finished off the leftover roast potatoes later in the evening as 250 cals doesn't actually cut it for dinner.)
Off on a business trip tomorrow. Back on Friday night!
I had a terrible day yesterday. Note also that I didn't post all day either. This is why I need this group. Simply catching up on your posts has motivated me to really work hard today. Yesterday I had friends over for brunch and made a fritatta that I didn't measure any ingredients for. It probably wasn't terrible, but not great either, I'm sure. The real stupid thing I did was go out for beers and burgers with friends from my department. My husband and I shared a burger and fries, but then of course we were hungry when we got home and ended up also sharing falafel and humus takeout. On days like this I never log anything which is really really stupid, but I suspect I probably took in about 2500 calories total, maybe more. Terrible. And no exercise at all!
So, today the plan is to jog for about 30 min and to do the 30 Day Shred dvd. This should burn about 500 calories total. I think I will also have a really small lunch in order to save up my calories for this evening... the season finale of LOST is on (I wish I could quit you, LOST) and I will inevitably smoke with my friends and eat takeout.
One last, very important, thing: After tonight, I've officially decided to stop smoking until my birthday (7/4) and to stop drinking until my brother's wedding at the end of June. This is going to be very difficult since I kinda live in a beer town, but I am really going to try hard. I know this is asking a lot, but I've noticed that many of us have similar weaknesses (bad snacking habits and alcohol) so is anyone interested in participating in a little contest to see who can go the longest without giving in? We can each set our own rules, I guess, and mine will be to not drink or smoke for as long as possible.
Ok, that's enough out of me for now. Off for a quick jog!
Can I please join this group? I really need somewhere I can go for daily inspiration and motivation!
Age: 25
Height: 5'1"
Current Weight: 147 (I have been bouncing between 146-150 for 2 years and haven't been successful)
Goal Weight: 122-125
Highest weight: 150
Exercise: I go to the gym Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. I do 4 miles on the elliptical (about 10 minutes / mile) and do a little bit of weights. I am thinking of doing my "Walk Away the Pounds" DVD on the days I cannot go to the gym (this does mean on those days I would need to wake up at 4am).
Weaknesses: Grilling (now that its warm), beer, salty snacks.
Occupation: Admin Assistant - Sit on my butt almost 9 hours a day.
Hobbies: Newly found hobby, skydiving. Bowling, baseball, amusement parks, spending quality time with my daughter, music.
In 2005, I officially started my weight loss journey at 150 lbs. I always was a bit 'heavier' but didn't care about my weight until I hit this weight (2 years after my daughter was born). I successful dropped down to 122 by eating 2 'meals' a day and snacking on fruit almost all day long. My calories were quite low (now I know you shouldnt do that) and I exercised 1 hour every single day. Sick or not, I did it. I was a stay-at-home mom at the time. Over the next year or so I gained about 10 lbs back and lost it again (I was a smoker at the time). Now, I have been a member on here since I think March of 2007. My weight was around 146 or so and has only bounced back and forth a few pounds since. I am very frustrated with this. I know I cannot do what I did before (not eat enough) so I have been trying this the 'right' way for so long.
I finally joined a gym back in February and still haven't seen results.
I used to live on fast food and rarely touch it now. I don't drink soda anymore (if I do it's diet but thats rare), I drink my coffee black now and I used to use A LOT of sugar and creamer). These facts make me so frustrated that I cannot lose weight. I have never tried so hard (and the right way) and not gotten anywhere.
I guess I just need some help and guidance to see what I can do differently and better. My mental state is weakening to the point of thoughts crossing my mind of diet pills, unhealthy means of weight loss and back to what I did 2 years ago. Logically I know I shouldn't and can't do that stuff but it doesn't mean I haven't thought about it. =(
Hopefully I can get back into the mindset and set some realistic yet challenging goals for myself. (Sorry post was so long).
Have you reached your 15 people yet? :-)
Here is my info in case it's not too late:
Age: 32
Height: 5'2
Current Weight: 147.4
Goal Weight: Short term - 136 (my pre-pg weight)/ Long term - 125
Diet: Nothing in particular - not much meat
Exercise: Doing Couch to 5K, play Ultimate Frisbee x2/week
Weaknesses: Snacking! Bread, cheese, chocolate... anything really.
Occupation: Government lawyer
Hobbies: Single mom - no time for hobbies! *laugh*
I started with CC on April 21st and am feeling particularly discouraged today. After losing 3 pounds, I seem to have suddenly gained it all back. I know rationally that it's probably just pre-period bloating but emotionally it was hard to see the numbers creep back up.
I hope it's not too late... :-)
Todeinotaton,
I will join you in that challenge. I had a great day yesterday until my husband came home. I had worked out twice and was in a great deficeit. I made WW spaghetti with rolls, salad, and zucchini for supper and opened the wine. Bad Move!! We drank the whole thing watching NCIS and then started eating. I quit logging at 2100 calories. I totally sabotaged myself. So, I will put the alcohol down with you until your brother's wedding. Hopefully I can keep up after that.
Scale went up a pound, but I don't officially weigh until Friday. So I walked 5 miles this morning and did my sit up and push up challenge. Am back on the horse so to speak. Am very proud of my sit ups and push ups. Joined the 100 push up challenge on CC and am completing my first week. Added the 200 sit up challenge on the push up website to help get my abs in shape. (Remember, I am 51, so it's harder for me to tighten and tone, but I am working hard to do it.) At the end of each challenge, you do as many consecutive exercises you can until max'd out. I did 10 pushups and 70 sit ups. That's great for me!!
Well, off to the showers and then I am sewing for the rest of the morning. Have been making workout shirts for the gym.
Catch you all later. Thanks for being there.

Can I lose weight by walking on the treadmill for 20 minutes twice a day?
