Competetive Eating

Can someone explain to me the appeal of competetive eating? I'm looking through this site...www.supersizedmeals.com, and the I just can't seem to get the appeal of eating a burger bigger than my head that leaves behind a pool of grease so big I could swim in it. (i know i've posted about this site before but some things just bear repeating!)

I didn't check out those links, but I will agree with you that it's a crazy thing I don't understand how people get into it.  Healthwise, it seems really bad for your body. 

But on another note, it seems like a horrible waste of food to have peole try to eat giant burgers or a million hot dogs for a novelty.  If I was someone living in poverty, and I saw that on TV, I would wonder what was wrong with people.  I do that anyway, but with all the starving people in the world....  I don't know.

i would totaly eat that. Maybe its just because iam craving a burger lately and i wont let myself fall for that craving untill after iam done dieting but competitive eating sounds fun. To be PAID to be a BINGE eater... i know that sounds crazy but heck . i do it and i dont get paid anything

EWWW....those burgers look slimy..must be the spit from the persons mouth after they too a bite lol if i want a burger i'll take one of my dads homemade burgers and fries over a frozen "beef" patty from any fast food establishment any day.

I looked at the first set of pictures, and not that does not appeal to me at all.....at all.......

I have never "gotten" the concept of competitive eating like hot dog eating contests, or pancake eating contests, or raw egg eating contests.   I just "don't get it".

I feel so sick from those pictures.....blerghhh

I literally cry when I see anything similar to that.

I will shed tears when someone "stuffs their face", when someone takes a bite that's too big or when someone talks with their mouth full. 

I personally think that's disgusting. There are people starving in the world and we're busy seeing how much we can shove down our throats.
