You're 5'10" and want to weigh 110?  I think that's too low :-/

I played volleyball for years and have just been selected for a very competitive team. I have a trainer/coach that is just starting to monitors my nutrition and weight. He says that in order to be the best I can he says that that's a good weight. I could jump so much higher without that weight on me. Also for my age 110 at 5,10 is considered a healthy weight. Laughing

I have to agree with barb. I don't know your age but even if you're 17, 5'10" and 110 pounds means your BMI will be 15.8 which is classified as "severely underweight." I doubt that your body would even let you get down that low unless you utilize unhealthy practices. Please be careful.

I'm younger than 17 and even on this website they say that my current weight of 150 is at the high end of the healthy BMI range for my height. They also say that 110 is still healthy for my weight.

I don't mean to sound defensive and it's really nice of you to show concern. If I ever felt like I was unhealthy I would get help.

Ah ok. I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were that young. I know there's a different way of calculating the BMI of kids and teens. I'm 26 and also had to get down to the lower end of my BMI range but for me it was because of some medical issues. I'd offer you some healthy competition although I am now only 10 pounds away from my goal weight so I'm hoping to be finished soon! Best of luck to you and your volleyball career though Smile

I wanna compete!!..well i am 21 years old..5'2-5'3 tall..&& weight 160..i would love to loose about 40 lbs..so yeah competition it is..or should i say HELP it is...SO WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO NOW?.......How is your diet?...What about activity?!!..

Laughing I was thinking about updating each other on weight/ weight loss weekly. Maybe we could have a day each week, like Saturday, when we report.

During the week if anyone wants to update on how they're doing with diet/ exercise they can. We can all support each other! And compete!

My diet is... well hard. Haha. Really I have to eat a high protein diet and avoid sugar. It's soo hard to be the only one not eating junk food after school. I have to exercise at least 3 hours a day including volleyball practice.

Let me know what you think of the plan. If anyone has any idea's let me know. Also let me know about your diets and exercise!

Hey Roxy. I'm almost to my weight loss goal but I'd like it participate. These last pounds seem to be the slowest!

I know it's really demanding being a young athlete. I was a tennis player my whole life and it was definitely time consuming, but it'll benefit you for life. Even with my metabolism gradually slowing, it's been relatively easy to get back into shape since I built up muscle memory during my younger years. Since you're already exercising so much I think you'll have an easier time. Is your diet a new one or one you've been following for a while?

I'm 5'9 and when I started CC I weighed 171 pounds, which is at the end of my BMI scale. Because of a medical issue, my doctor said I needed to get down to the lower range. I have kind of a weird diet, but it seems to be working as I've lost 25 pounds. It's probably not for everyone, but it's something that will definitely be sustainable for me. It's called "The Warrior Diet" (written by Ori Hofmekler) and it was recommended to me by my trainer. Basically, you eat nothing all day with the exception of raw foods. I stick with raw vegetables and almonds. This causes your body to detox and burn fat instead of calories. Your only real meal is dinner which can be anything within reason of course. You start your dinner with a salad or other vegetable, followed by a lean protein (I'm a pescatarian so my protein is most often fish), saving the carbs for last.

I know this sounds extreme to some people, but before I started this plan I had a bad habit of never eating during the day and then stuffing myself at dinner. I work an 8-5 and don't usually feel hungry when I'm engulfed in my work. In addition, when I do eat a normal meal during the day I've always gotten really, really lethargic. Since eating this way I have more energy than I know what to do with and I'm easily meeting (and not exceeding) my calorie goal. I do make exceptions like when we have an office lunch, but I get back to it the next day.

I'm also lucky because my gym is walking distance from my office and I use my lunch break to exercise there. I love it because I'm usually the only person in there at that time of day. When I go there I usually run and walk on the treadmill (if I'm walking I make sure to put the incline up very high), bike, and use the eliptical. I've been meaning to schedule a kettlebell training session as it's a great cardio and strength training exercise. I keep freeweights at home that I use all the time, especially when I'm sitting in front of TV. I also play tennis 2-3 times a week.

So that's what's been working for me anyways! My goal weight is set at 135 so I'm slowly getting there. You definitely have your age and athleticism on your side so I'm sure you'll see results quickly!

I just got back on the Isagenix program. I don't know if you heard of it but it's a 9 to 30 days program where you cleanse out toxic in your body. Its pretty cool and it works pretty well if you follow the direction. As for my physical activity i am just going to go to the gym at my school. Probally 3 times a week because i have school during the days and work in the evening...so i am going to try and make time for it. But yeah ill probally do my weight in every Monday or so. It doesnt matter what day we choose for the weight in... I have trouble staying full...so i am guessing that i should eat more fiber and protein..i dont know..what do ya think?!....

I'm interested in a little competition too!  I tried to get some girls at work to partake but they whimped out.  I started this August 24 and so far I've lost 7 pds.  I'm 44 (today!) and am now at 159, my (first) goal being 130.  How do we do this, what are the peramiters, esp since our ages are so varied?  Does it even make sense for me to compete with a teenager?  When I was young I was a size one which didnt start to change until mid 20's...

Hey I'd like to join the competition also :) I'm 18 years old.. 5'7 and 160 pounds. I'd like to eventually get down to 125 or 130 or so. I'm just starting tomorrow soooo wish me luck :D
