hi guys
i'm new to this forum n i've gained 5 pounds recently
but now i really want to lose some weight!
i hav an idea now!
lets start a weight losing competition!
i'm 162 cm and 130 pounds heavy
any1 of the similar status is welcomed to enter this competition with me!
we will write weight log everyday in this post and by the end of every week, we'll compare who has lost more and who has lost the weight more healthily!
i believe dat by this way we'll all b more motivated to lose weight!

breakfast
quaker's apple n cinnamon instant cereal (cooked with water)--120 calories
lunch
apple *1 --120 calories
sandwich( bread 200 calories, turkey breast 100 calories)--300 calories
vegies--100 calories
afternoon snack
wutever datz lower than 200 calories
dinner
instant cereal--120 calories
wutever healthy chinese food my mom cooks--140 calories
plus
no foods after 5 pm
hope dat will work!
i'll report daily n make sure dat i lose these 30 pounds by september 1st!

hi, wannabe! losing 130 lbs in under six months is a pretty ambitious goal, and might not even be healthy for you. i'm aiming for a pound a week, and i don't think any more than that is good for you, although many people seem to be able to lose 2. that would take you 65 weeks, or a year and a quarter. i don't want to throw cold water on your ambition, but please think about it.
this website will help you adopt a healthy pattern of eating for the rest of your life, if you will use the tools that are here. it is not designed as a crash course in dieting. that always has a bad rebound effect. (it will come back, worse than before). i know there are a lot of people on the forums who can tell their stories on that.
but do get busy and log in your calories, study your analysis, and make sure you are getting all the important nutrients as well as the exercise that you need to first lose, and then to maintain, your healthy weight!

oh, i guess i read it wrong, you want to lose 30 lb, i thought you wanted to lose 100!! sorry!! you have a very reasonable goal. i think you need to add more protein to your diet, though. look at egg whites (or egg substitute), chicken breast, turkey, tuna fish, salmon, shrimp, tofu, and low fat cheese. if you look at "analysis" every day, you should see 30% fats, 30% protein, and 40% carbs. from what you said in your daily foods, you are going to be way way too high on carbs. but just put it in, and see what happens!
Hey Wana be- I'd watch that quaker instant oatmeal- I think there is alot of sugar in it :( And for your bread- make sure is whole grain- I bought some made by Alvarado St. Bakery that is whole grain with flax seed in it and I think 2 pieces were only 100 calories- course- they are small pieces! My husband complains about their size- he's a big eater and lucky for him- he does not need to watch his weight... get bread with higher fiber to help fill you up- and also- I'm sure you are also drinking a lot of water during the day? I want to lose another 88 pounds or so but I should lose over a 100- so I won't take the challenge- but always here for free advice:) From one who is a real "yo-yo" !!!
Hey there. I can sorta do the challenge with you. I can only weigh in weekly though ... Friday mornings are my weigh-ins. I can't do it more than once a week or I'd go absolutely nuts (plus the scale's at home and I'm in my apartment at school, and I only go home on the weekends).
Make a profile, then I'll add you as a friend and you can do the same with me. This would be much easier to do through our diet logs and easier to find, too.
OK, I guess stats n background would be good to start with ... My name's Christina, I'm 21, 5'2" (62in.) (not sure what that is in the metric system and I'm too lazy right now to figure it out). I'm 164 pounds, and looking to lose about 34 (possibly 44, we'll see when I get to my goal of 130) pounds. According to the website, I can get to my goal by August 19th while consuming 1350 calories a day. I started at 200 pounds last June, and lost 25 pounds by cutting back and exercising, hit a 3-month plateau, found this site, and since have lost 11 more pounds for a grand total of 36 pounds gone forever.
I'm not sure that 1112 calories is exactly enough for you, though. I've read just about everywhere that under 1200 calories kicks your metabolism around and puts you into starvation mode, thereby storing fat and burning muscle mass. Just something to look into and make sure you're doing this healthily.
Anyway, make a profile, add me, lemme know if you wanna do this competition thingy (prolly a li'l more slack than you'd like, but it's the only way it'll work for me, really ... with a once-a-week weigh-in). i figured if i could use these sugars in it to ease my desire for chocolates n other "worse" stuff, it might work
i think i'll change it after my body has adapted to the "healthy" eating styles

why is your last meal at 5pm? unless you have acid reflux, your last meal should be 2-3hours before bed.
i eat my last small meal (usually cottage cheese w/ pineapple, and 8oz of water drink) at 8PM, fall asleep at 10:30 usually.
5pm, till early morning, is a LONG time without food, you should bump up a few of those foods and vary them more out through the day.

i heard ppl saying dat if u eat less at night, u get slim faster...dunno if its true tho... i think i'll try the 5pm schedule for a month, than ur 8pm schedule for a month, n i'll do an experiment on myself to c which suits me better
besides, i get up at 6 am everyday n ya i dunno y buy i never feel hungary in the morning

lets say you eat at 5pm, your last meal of the entire day, that means your metabolism is boosted at 5pm, then it slowly goes down, and down, and down by 9pm/10pm your metabolism isn't boosted anymore, and it's harder to lose weight this way.

Depending on what you eat of course, but I thought eating 2-3 hours before bedtime actually helped you sleep better. I thought I remember reading that as a reason that cookies and milk are actually a very good dessert. Getting a good night's sleep is just as important as what you eat. Sleeping with a grumbling stomach doesn't sound like good sleep to me!

The Oatmeal - Have you tried the low sugar stuff? I bought it but haven't tried it yet. And if you don't have anything against the artificial sweeteners, the Weight Control oatmeals are really good! They don't have a fake sugar taste. I've tried the Banana Bread and the Cinnamon, both very tasty! But be careful, the Banana Bread SMELLS HEAVENLY!!!! It's tasty, but not heavenly... :o)

i went out with my friends to karaoke (since itz march break) n i didnt (i couldnt actually) follow my eating plan
so here is wut i actually ate today
breakfast-chinese style egg&ham bum 260 calories
lunch-bubble tea with the lil black sticky rice stuff(dunno wut itz called, it came with the drink,)--400 calories
dinner--chinese style sausage bum 300 calories
total
960 calories
since u guys all think adt some foods @ 8 or 9 pm will b good, i'll just eat some healthy snack at dat time today n i hope i can lose some wieght!

Congrats on the weight-loss! I'm dyin' here, I can't weigh in til Friday morning. I COULD weigh when I go home tomorrow night, but it wouldnt' be accurate (I weigh the same time in the same way every Friday morning). The stir fry sounds really yummy, I LOVE stir fry.

Afternoon snack: Chicken Sandwich, jello, diet dr. pepper (165)
Lunch: Grilled steak n veggie healthy choice meal (290)
Dinner: Spaghetti with ground turkey, green beans, skim milk, 3 baby pickles, whole grain bread n butter (686.4)
Total: 1336 ... 14 leftover calories for the day
Gah ... I really need to distribute my calories better throughout the day. It's SO hard with my Monday/Wednesday schedule though. :-\ I REALLY need to step it up on the water tonight, I haven't drank enough today ... and I've gotta start lookin' out for that sodium, it's killin' me. I'm givin' myself a partial cheat day on Friday ... I'm finally having my shamrock shake. It IS St. Patty's Day then, so ... I'm entitled, at least I waited n I'm ONLY having one before they take 'em back off the menu. I'm a sucker for anything mint!
I'm wondering if after today we should move this to our diet logs? That way it won't be out where everyone can see what I ate all day LOL. Also, I was wondering how old you are and where you're from? I'm assuming outside the US, considering you put your height in the metric system.
