Competitive person looking to start by losing ten pounds
I am 25 yrs old, female, 5'4", 154 lbs. I never struggled with weight when I was younger, but have begun to. Im looking to lose 30 lbs. Right now Im focussing on the first ten. Having someone to keep me going is a big plus, so Im looking for someone with similar goals as me to compare workouts, calories burned, calories eaten, and weight lost with. Weigh ins once or twice a week with a log of what we did for exercise and calories consumed. I definitely don't know a lot about working out so I think that comparing notes will help us figure out what works the best. Im very competitive and want someone else who likes to win. If we both push ourselves to "win" we can only help eachother. Please respond if you are interested. I live in Albany, NY so if anyone's from around here even better. Thanks and good luck to everyone!

Way to go, Opal!!!!
Thanks for the encouraging words, Poupe. You're right -- patience is key!! I feel like the scale is starting to budge. Today I'm 136.7 -- down .3 YAY!!!
It helps to look at the trend line on your CC weight log when the scale jumps around. As long as the trend line keeps going down, no matter how slight, it's encouraging. Fluctuations on the scale usually mean water retention.
Name: deegee52
Height: 5'4"
Start Weight: 142.5
Goal Weight: 125-ish

* 11/05 - 137 (my first week)
* 11/12 - 136.7
oy. went grocery shopping this morning and definitely overate for lunch.
also didnt eat well last night (was drinking and snacking with friends)
this weekend is also really busy, so i might not be able to run. overall, not looking good this weekend, but I'm going to try my very very best to do a long run tomorrow.
Between being out of town, not enough sleep/still catching up/car lag, TTOM, and stress at work = not a great week for me.
I will not have accurate numbers for figuring tomorrow, so that is my major goal this week and the rest of the month ---- accurate daily cals in recorded for myself. I do really well usually. Just got off my game with the trip to MN and WILL BE BETTER this coming week. ( :
We can do this!!!!
My average daily calorie deficit this week is -650.
Last week I reported -1069. MISTAKE!!! It should have been -253. It seemed too good to be true, since my highest daily deficit was -768. So I re-checked it. And, yeah, it was wrong -- I think I added something twice. BIG DIFFERENCE!! No wonder the scale is moving so slowly. But it is moving. For that I'm grateful. I think I've finally got it right this week.
This is hard -- keeping track of calories -- especially when eating out! Or using home recipes. But it does make you more conscious of what you're eating when you know you have to log it. I guess that's why we're doing it. ![]()
rock on, deegee!
LIke I said in previous post, I sucked while on that trip, but I will have accurate numbers for next week, and I hope with TTOM gone, Wed will be a low number.
also dont know my cal count. The weekend was not good at all.
Got a good workout done on Sunday, but havent exercised these past 2 days due to the fact that it is absolutely freeeeezing outside! Perhaps I should start working out in my room.
weigh in Wednesday, ladies! I basically just maintained, but I am ok with that, I guess......
Name: Janay O
Height: 5'6" short
Start Weight: I GUESS 159, agh.
Goal Weight: 149 (my original goal was 150 when I was 230, so....)
* 10-29 159
* 11-5 153/154
* 11-12 155
* 11-19 155 (((ttom this week, so.......)))
* 11-26
* 12-3
Height: 5'3"
10-29: 139.2
11-5: 139.2
11/12: 137.4
Today 11/19: 138.5
I suspect that I was dehydrated at weigh in last week, plus, I forgot to weigh in this morning so I weighed in at night instead. Perhaps if I remember, I'll weigh tomorrow morning and post that for comparison.
Where did everyone go?
still here :)
ooh, weighed in this morning at 137.4 *phew*
hi janay!
that 50 mile thing has totally gone down the pooper. I'm so averse to the cold that I refuse to leave my room except for class. I think I need to get through this rough patch (of work, projects, etc.) and I'll get back on track again after Thanksgiving.
How are you doing?
I am actually really good, girlie! ( : I sort of got off track last week with that trip to MN and FAR too little sleep, but I have run 4 days this week so far, 4 miles each time. Eating good, drinking pretty good. Lots of water... good stuff ( ;
I wonder where everyone went?? but I am stoked you're still around.
Thankfully soccer season is going to start after thanksgiving, so I'll have some more oprotunities to be active. They want to practice twice a week though. We'll see if I can fit that into my schedule. sigh
stats actually went up, but probably because I have been horrid the last week (HAHAHAHA) Ate way too much pizza, but I'll work a good portion of it off tonight.
as of 20 nov: 133
goal December 30: 127. I should be able to loose about 6 pounds in 6 1/2 weeks. Try too anyways.
okay, so i know i shouldnt weigh so often and trust it, but i just need to rant a bit.
i ate really well today. around 1300ish (which is awesome considering I often lose motivation or get the munchies and go over)
and I weighed myself at the end of the day and was 140.5 which is higher than what I was last night.
I wish there were a "without water-weight fluctuations" scale that just told me how it is.
end rant.
dare to dream about that scale, opa! ( : wouldn;t that be grand?
I keep keep undoing all my work through the day with a 10 PM snack, munch, name it yourself. It's pissing me off, but I keep doing it..... maybe I just need to force myself to go to bed......
ok, here's this. I already did my math and barring you all telling me I am wrong (possible!!), I am pretty happy.
11425 cals in
1735 cals burnt
9690 =
-12390 = BMR
-2700 / 7 days
deficit each day -- 385
is this right???
(crosses fingers)
how are all of you?? I worked all days but Friday. feeling proud of that. I need to push harder on my running because I know it is too easy. My heart rate while jogging is never like it is when I am biking. I can feel it thumping when I bike -- jogging = easy. sigh.
woohoo! great job Janay!
I'm doing really well this weekend too actually! I count calories, but I never remember to record it at the end of the day, so I can only estimate. I've been doing so well these past 4 days actually, I think for those days I had 300-400 cal deficit. And the other 3 days I think I was at maintenance. So around -200 per day? and around 1400 deficit total?
my scale is definitely showing really high numbers though! =o( I think its TTOM soon so yeah.
I'm so proud of us for doing so well though, let's keep up the good work!
and wow, jogging = easy? I swear, even walking makes me out of breath sometimes.
I hear you, on the stupid scale numbers, opa!! sheesh. I have LITERALLY bounced for WEEKS (in a single day) back and forth between 154-5 and 163-4!!!!! COME ON. I know that is not possible, but still..... It messes with my brain. What I NEED to do is retake measurements. THAT always makes me feel better. ( :
GOAL FOR TODAY: take inches and feel good.
good for you on the old deficit, too opa. I feel proud for doing my own math this time!! (blush)
How are all the rest of you losers? ( ;
