I just completed a 5k race!!
I'm so proud of myself! I never thought I would be able to complete a 5k race. I started running for the first time 2 months ago and I completed my first 5k in 43:43. I thought my bad knee (dislocated and tore ligaments 10 years ago) would affect me. Now I think that was just an excuse to not get out there and try.
I'm looking forward to the next one in September and setting a goal of 35-38 minutes.
Congratulations, jmac! Glad to see you are hooked! Welcome to a lifetime of running :)
Congratulations!
Hmm. Been a while since I've stickied a brag thread from someone reaching a goal - if the "Learn to run" recruitment drive wasn't still on I'd put you up top for bragging rights ;)
I just completed my second 10K!!! ..... I would never have thought I could do more then a 5k. My first 5k time was 48min... you would not believe how far you can come if you keep it up!
Congratulations! I remember that feeling of finishing your first race. I always used to hate running and, truth be told, I don't always love doing it now, but that feeling of finishing a run and--even better--a race is AMAZING and it just keeps getting better :)
Massive congrats - it is a good feeling isn't it? Big well done and pat on the back!![]()
Just out of interest, does anyone have tips for how to get faster? I can run a good few miles without stopping now but just can't seem to speed up!
congrats!!! Isn't it awesome to complete fitness goals?!?! I did my first 10k few weeks ago and now training for a half :)
Thanks everyone!
Silverbutterfly, when did you start running? How long did it take you to move from a 5k to a 10k? Good luck on your half!
