Getting compliments makes me wanna push harder ;)
So I started my weight loss journey on July 7, 2009. I joined a gym and have slowly started to change my eating habits. I have good days and really bad days. Sometimes I still eat things I shoudn't but in moderation, I don't drink soda anymore and opt for iced tea and water everywhere :) I have went from 270 lbs to 235 since July. I am very proud of myself and have just recently started getting alot of compliments on my success thus far. Yesterday I had my sister ask me if it's already been a year since I started hitting the gym and eating healthier. When I told it's only been since July, she was shocked and said "you've gotten that much results from only a few month?" That statement made me feel really good because I hadn't felt like my results were that noticable. Having her say that made me want to push even harder I've never stuck to a weight loss plan this long and I "know" I will see it through till the end!
Anyone else think that compliments or nice words make you want to push harder?
Definitely - as hard as it was to admit to my friends and coworkers that I was losing weight, having them know that I was doing it (and them being supportive and giving compliments) really helped.
congrats pixie on your weight lose so far!!!! i was getting alot of compliments when i first lost the weight but i never really thought they were true because i did not see the change myself. well that was back in may and since i have not lost anymore weight since then the compliments stopped and i stopped trying. so now it is time to get back on track and lose the other 50lbs i need to. it was nice taking a break over the summer but i look back and think wow how far away would i be now if i had not stopped trying. oh well live and learn. congrats and good luck on the future weight lose
Congratulations Pixie! 35lbs gone is great! I've only managed to lose 9lbs so far in 2 months. Compliments are such inspiration even when they are a bit off handed. This from my sister in law on Halloween, "wow, your ass has really shrank". Umm, ok. Thanks? Guess I didn't reallize how big it was before, lol. But now I know that all the workouts are doing something even though the scale isn't really moving.
Compliments make it all worth it.
I remember I saw my softball coach this season not having seen him since last spring. He said that he didn't recognize me and I shouldnt turn sideways or he wouldnt even be able to see me.
I saw my mom's work friend after about a month and after my braces got taken off, and he said "Wow, the braces come off and all the weight goes with it huh?"
Its also good when you hear that people have talked about you not even in front of you. :]
One of my guy friends that I only see about two weeks every summer told my friend "Wow, she's lost so much weight. She's like, gorgeous now."
:]
