Concerned about the future

Let me first start by saying my BMI used to stay around 17. I have recently been gaining weight over a year and a half period and now my BMI is at 20. This required a wardobe resize that made me feel tremendously fat (and a little bit lighter in the wallet).

On the plus side I seem to have more energy and seem to be less tired, but I can't help but feeling that I gained to much and find myself feeling really guilty for eating three meals a day.

I guess I am looking for a way to but my mind at ease and build a little more confidence.

Thanks for listening

You've done really well to go from 'clinically underweight' to where you are now.   The normal healthy range is BMI 20 - 25... so you're at the low end of that.  Very slim.    The listlessness you felt before was entirely due to being chronically malnourished and your body being under stress.   The extra energy you're experiencing is what most people take for granted and it's purely due to being better nourished and therefore healthier .... that and three meals a day means, congratulations, you're now 'normal'.   Smile

Building confidence is a journey.  It has to do with setting small goals that involve little challenges, stretching yourself a little each time and discovering what you can do.  If you can think of something you've always wanted to do that your lack of energy has held you back from doing in the past, now is the time to give it a try!   Another way to build confidence is to team up with others to accomplish something... join a special interest group, help your community, play a team sport.

I think it's a wonderful opportunity to be able to put the past firmly behind you and get such a fresh start...  anything is possible.
