I don't normally post messages, but after scouring google for information and coming up empty handed I thought I might as well try.

I see as many concerts as I can because I love music and it's even better when it's live.  Until I recently decided to start this life change I had not really thought of the calorie burning benefits of going to see bands, but now I wonder how many calories I should plug into my activity log.

I mainly see punk rock shows and I love moshing so I'm curious as to how many calories that would burn.

Don't know if stats are needed but I'm 5ft 7in and 188lbs.

Thanks for your time :)

I would estimate somewhere close to "high impact aerobics":

mostly because you will be doing a pretty constant flow of moving and running and pushing and jumping. I know when I go to ska shows, I work up a sweat in the pit, and am always really hungry afterwards :)

Hope this helps! And be careful in the mosh pits, it can be fun but I have heard awful injury stories :/

hey thanks :)  I was thinking something along those lines as well, but i wasen't sure.

I would agree with folkharpist. At the very least you're jumping pretty much the whole time (at least, I am in my experience).

Did manage to get a black eye (at a thursday concert), and a horribly bruised shoulder (Mindless Self Indulgence concert), so it is a bit hazardous... : )

Haha, way cool, I love MSI!  I saw them in San Francisco a couple years ago and they were pretty wicked indeed!  "I hate Jimmy Page" is actually one of my top played on my workout playlist :)

I generally just consider concerts free days. Which might not be a good idea, but you're exercising so much by dancing and hardly having any time to eat, anyway, and are pretty much starving afterwards.

And yeah, I logged a concert today. I put it as high impact aerobics (4 hours of straight dancing, headbanging, jumping and running around). It was NIN and Jane's Addiction. :D
