CONFESSIONS of a Wine-Aholic
"Why oh why do you tempt me so! I can't get enough of you! When I try to walk away, you sit there looking at me teasing me, daring me to open you up and drink from your nector! Why oh why do I love you So!"
Anyone else...

Drink beer, don't be a snob or quee...uhhh...(old saying)
A term for a wine-alcoholic is wino, but they usually drink top quality stuff like Wild Irish Rose and MadDog 20/20. so it doesn't even seem like they are drinking alcohol, maybe they just like the flavor or the taste of grapes.
CONFESSIONS of a Wine-Aholic!
Isn't there already a term for 'wine-aholic'?
oh ya, alcholic.
Haha to both of you - I was just being silly. I love wine and wanted anyone else who loves it to share.
I'd drink five bottles if I physically could. I love me my wine
I feel you, I love, Love, LOVE my wine... and beer. That's part of the reason I got back up to this weight in the first place... Well that, not exercising and eating a full 2nd dinner after on top of my drinks.
I still drink it but definitely one or two only and not as regular as I did before. Of course I am sure there will be times when I have more than that (hey it goes down easy at the cottage when you're sitting on a dock in front of the lake), but that will be a very rare occasion.
I think fortius is on to something. I love the taste of Merlot... smooth and fruity and just so... mmm.. totally delicious... summer evenings on the patio, winter nights in front of the fire, snuggled up with my honey, a good steak... ya know? With added bonus that I never get headaches or hangovers.. so the red wine that causes others so much pain is no deterrent for me.
But if there was a non-alcoholic Merlot that tasted in all other respects just like the regular version, I think I would love it just as much. Sadly, I have tried non- alcoholic wines before and been rather disappointed.
I can totally drink an entire bottle by myself, it just goes down so EASY! and have been known to share three three litre bottles with two friends... I am a total wino!
Even though there is a rack in my kitchen containing ten delicious bottles of red wine, that I know will be wonderful, I have not opened a bottle for .... uh... about six months. Like chocolate, wine is an all or nothing experience for me. I have been unable to develop my self control enough to have only one glass or one square.
Rather than "wino" I prefer the term wine connoissuer. I love the wine I must admit. More red than whites. My current favorite whites are Voigner and Reisling. We have several good wineries out here. I think it is time for a trip. We have a winery that makes the best Meritage I have ever tasted and I am out.
Having dinner out tonight, I think a nice cabernet will make the cut.
No beer for me. If that is all that is available I will pass. Maybe a wine snob, but I can't help it. The older I get the more discriminating I am with my alcohol choices. Hubby likes the micro brews, but I haven't found one that can replace my wine.
Soraya- You KNOW I'm with ya Girl!!
LOVE wine! Wouldn't give it up for anything in the world!!!
But, for me it's not just about drinking it. It's the bottles (can just look at a wine shop for hrs), the feel, the smell, the romance, the glasses (into my stem-less "Reidel" glasses at the time), the wineries (love Napa/Sonoma), the sheer poetry of it...I have learned to appreciate and savor one or two glasses and be satisfied...at least for one night. ;)
Yeah-- I love a good red wine. I like dry cabernets and pinot noirs the best. I really have NOOOO self control with it either. One glass becomes a whole bottle too easily so I try and not drink it too often.![]()
I really like reds but keep the Kendall Jackson Reseve Chardonnay away from me. I'll drink it all night until I've drank the town dry
omg, i am obsessed w/ wine. at the risk of sounding like an alcoholic i finish off almost a bottle a night at home (the fiancee get's about a 1-1/2 a glass in)! now i'm deployed w/ the military and cannot have ANY alcohol. i miss my wine!!!
(sparkling wine *cheap man's champagne* is my all time FAVORITE!)
I'll drink to that! I have 2 glasses every evening...it's good for you!! Anyone out there into Malbec? Just tried it and love it!
