Confused about fiber in adding foods?
CC didn't have the oatmeal I'm eating right now so I decided to input the nutritional value myself. On my oats container, it says Dietary Fiber, Soluble Fiber and Insoluble Fiber. So what do I put down for the fiber entry?? Should I add Dietary Fiber, Soluble Fiber and Insoluble Fiber together to get the fiber or what? =S At first I didn't put anything down but then I seen the label say Good source of fiber so now I'm confused?
Soluble Fiber + Insoluble Fiber = Dietary Fiber.
Oatmeal is a pretty generic item... Even if your particular brand isn't shown, you should be able to use a different brand or just the plain old term 'oats' and get the right nutritional information

Okay, does that mean I should put down the Dietary Fiber intake for the fiber box when I add foods?

True, but I often have to input different foods because we don't buy popular brands. A lot of things have different nutritional value and I'm wanting to be as exact as I can be about entering the food information values. I would like to know if the Dietary Fiber is the value I should enter when adding foods in the "Fiber" box.
Yes, it is.

On A Nutrition Label... Under Carbohydrates... Dietary Fiber is listed... whatever that number is... is the total fiber content within the food (soluble + insoluble)... so don't add the dietary fiber with the soluble and insoluble because that is incorrect...
When you add foods to the food log on this site, it generally has the fiber for a specific food already in the system so you don't need to put down the dietary fiber anywhere... is that what you're trying to ask?

Yeah that was it. Thanks for explaining it to me.
What does "Other - 32.4%" mean in the nutrient analysis?
