are you depressed because you have to gain weight? is that worrying you? your weakness and headaches could simply be due to your depression. if not, they can also be due to what you're eating. what does your daily diet usually look like? what you eat (or don't eat) can affect your mood greatly.

I guess i might be depressed about gaining weight? But i know I have to and whats really confusing is that yesterday i was so positive about eating good healthy food but eating more of it and not stressing and today it went all down hill

my diet usually consists of a lot of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and rice. I'm a vegetarian.

i understand. gaining weight is hard, but it becomes easier once you truly accept it. you know you have to gain weight, but try changing that to wanting to gain weight. you want to be healthier. you want to live happier. needing to gain weight and wanting to gain weight are two completely different things. maybe you're depressed because deep inside you feel forced to gain weight, because medically it's the right thing to do.. because you need to reach a certain weight, bmi, bf%, etc etc. so you feel overwhelmed, because you feel like you have to please someone or meet a certain criteria. forget about all that and just focus on gaining health. do this for you. not for the doctors, therapists, family, friends, whatever.. do it for you. do it because you want to.. because you choose to better yourself. feeling anxious in this phase is perfectly normal, because you don't really know what you're getting yourself into. trust yourself and just take the leap of faith.. i promise everything will work out in your favor. you're going to have up days, and you're going to have down days. just pick yourself up when you feel down and bring your positivity back. it'll get easier, don't worry. your diet sounds great btw, keep it up! Smile

have you tried visiting the weight gain forums? i'm sure they'll help you out a lot over there.. you should check it out.

Do you have a nutritionist? I have a lot of vegan and vegetarian friends, so they've had to deal with similar things. You might be missing out on a nutrient of some sort. Do you take supplements? Those are all symptoms of anemia, so if you're not eating meat, not taking iron, and not eating ungodly amounts of spinach, you might want to look into that.

According to my favorite food-related book, these are good foods to try:

For stress: yogurt, mixed nuts, red bell peppers, peppermint tea, sesame seeds. NOT soda.

For depression and sadness: arugula or spinach, tuna sashimi or grilled salmon, flaxseed. NOT white chocolate.

For better energy: trail mix, cereal, high-protein salad. NOT caffeine, pancakes, or bagels.

All that info courtesy of David Zinczenko of Eat This, Not That :)

By the way, your hair is GORGEOUS, I'm terribly jealous!

No nutritionist, but I think i might get one. Maybe I am missing some kind of nutrient.

I'll have to get that book!

Thank you for the compliment! :)
