I am confused about how many calories I should be eating.

I am a 5' 10" female and weigh 150 lbs. I walk 2 miles a day. I was eating around 1500 calories a day but I wasn't loosing weight for the past two months, so I tried eating 1200 calories a day and still no weight loss. I even upped my cals to 2000 but then I gained weight...Cry

Help! I would like to loose 10 more pounds but I am not sure how many calories I need to be eating.

Here is what I ate today:

Breakfast=2 eggs, 1 slice whole wheat toast, 1/2 cup blue berries, 1/4 cup cottage cheese (265 calories)

Lunch= turkey sandwhich on whole wheat bread with mustard, dannon light n' fit yogurt, strawberries, carrot sticks (295 calories)

Snack= granny smith apple and almonds (260 calories)

Dinner= salad (romaine lettuce, cucumber, red peper), chicken breast, whole wheat rice, salsa (370 cals)

snack= rice cake and cheese stick (140 calories)

(total calories 1330)

Any suggestions of how I could improve my diet or overcome this weightloss plateau??? Should I eat more or less calories?? I am so confused. Please help. Thanks so much!!!

at moderately active you burn 2300 calories so a 500 calorie-750 calorie deficit would give you 1550-1800 calories a day, that would yield a 1-1.5 pound loss, which is the maximum you should expect to lose with your stats. more than 1% is too much. if you don't lose on this amount it is possible that you've reached the weight your body wants to be at, and at a BMI of 21 this doesn't shock me. you are already at a healthy weight so maybe you should focus on building strength or changing your body composition instead of the number on the scale.

The key to weightloss IF combined with a healthy diet is EXERCISE!! Really! You should try to work out on a daily basis. You don't need to go to the gymm and work your ass of every day but you need to be active during the day!

Do some gardening, it is very relaxing and it burns about 265 cals an hour.

Take the stairs and focuss on your body while going up. See it as a small work out, use those muscles!

Go for a good walk, make sure your not going to slow!

Ride your bike!

Do some cleaning! With good music on!

If you do this every day, you'll burn approx 300 kcals more every day, and that is quite a lot!

Good luck!!

musicismylife I think that I'm about to follow your menu......You can try to run and walk instead of just walking.  Strength training can also help.
