So confused!

Quote  |  Reply
Hi Guys!

I'm just a little confused about something and am hoping someone can clear it up for me....and explain it as you would to a 5 year old! hahah...seriously though

So I am worried about my daily calorie intake...

My Normal Calorie Expenditure says 2500...or something very close to that ( i already forget the exact #'s) and I eat 1400 calories a day and work out 40-50 minutes daily.

I'm worried that what i do is not enough, because should my normal calorie expenditure read 2000?

I really have no clue!....

What's your age, weight, and height?  I'll try to help clear things up!  I remember when I first started counting calories and it took me about 2 months to stumble on the perfect explanation!  LoL
as if i forgot to post that!!

21, 183, 5'8

goal weight 143

Okay, here we go... If you are still confused after my post, you can send me a message & I'll try to help you out! :-)

I put your info in on the Burn Meter tools and this is what it said...

You should consume about 1550 calories a day to reach your goal weight of 143 lbs.

This is at a reasonable weight loss average of 1.5 lbs per week, which should be reached by August 02, 2008.

Remember that this estimate is based on your body weight, height, age, gender, and activity level. It may vary slightly depending on other factors.

Generally, women should not consume any less than 1,200 calories per day, and men should not consume less than 1,500 calories per day.

Now, that's with your activity level at Light Activity, since you exercise daily.  If you wanted to give yourself a calorie range, you'd be safe with 1400-1600 calories each day.  You'll still lose that way, and your body won't go into starvation mode.

Since you're eating 1400 calories a day, you'll be fine.  You won't be starving & you will be losing weight.  Hope this helps!

You should set your activity level to sedentary and add your workouts.    I think 2500 is a little high but that's just a guess.

Hey Anna

As long as you are eating all meals and eating enough- say high energy foods with low calorie, that is fine- I think. I mean I eat a lot of vegetables and fruits ( And I mean a lot) And I fill of on those mostly, so my calorie intake is really low. It is lower than what I should take in daily. As long as you are not starving yourself and eating correctly, I don't think the amount of calories you take matter- unless you are going over your calorie limit- then you won't lose weight.
