Confused about how to lose weight.
I'm 15 and 5'8 and weigh 160 pounds. Everyone says to eat fewer calories and then exersize but then they say you should eat 2000 calories a day cause you need that much. So am I supposed to try to eat 2000 calories a day or less since im on a diet? Also this website says i should be eating 1700 a day. Why? I thought a person needs 2000...i dont get it can someone explain this to me? Oh and also if youre trying to lose weight are you supposed to burn more calories than you eat and if you dont you wont lose weight?
Hey, This website said that you were suppose to eat 1700 calories a day which was determined by your age, gender, height, and weight. If you go to the tools on this website and under calorie target and fill everything out then it should let you know how many calories you should be eating to lose weight. 2000 calories is what all nutrition facts are based on but if you are trying to lose weight then you will have to eat less calories and burn more. Its not that you have to actually eat less. I am 22 and weigh 239. I eat around 1300 to 1600 a day depending. As long as you dont go below 1200 calories in a day (which is extremely unhealthy and can actually have the reverse effect on your weight) you will be fine. I suggest that you find out what this website says your calorie intake should be a try to stay around that just dont go below 1200.
I wish you the best of luck.

yeah but other people told me that counting calories youll get nowhere and to just eat healthy and exersize. i never count my calories i just try to eat healthy and then i exersize for one hour and that burns 600 calories but how is that going to make me lose weight if youre supposed to burn off more calories than you eat? and if you eat 1700, (thats how much this site told me to eat every day based on ym heaight, weight, and age) and burn off only 600 calories than youre not burning off more calories than you eat so then i wont ever lose weight right? unless i worked out to eat more than 1700 calories and that seems impossible i would have to workout for more than an hour...
You dont just burn calories exercising. You burn calories by just breathing. Anything you do you are burning calories. The burn meter on this website gives you an estimate of about how much you will burn (according to what you put in as your activity level) doing normal everyday things. You burn calories all day long not matter if you are just sitting in a chair watching tv or if you are at the gym for an hour. What you do on top of your normal everyday stuff is added to what you do normally. So its possible to burn more than you eat as long as you are watching what you eat.
counting calories is really important when youre trying to diet. i usually eat pretty healthy so when i first started dieting i didnt think i needed to count. but after two weeks of "healthy" eating and working out i wasnt loosing weight. so i started counting my calories and the weight has been coming off.
sometimes you might think what you're eating is healthy or that its not that much but when you're recording everything that goes in your mouth it makes you a lot more conscious of your food choices. good luck!
ok heres some tips i need to tell you
1)this site calorie counter is for adults it wont give u the rite info for the ammount u need to burn becuase ur a teen find a teen calculator
2)teens need 1800 cals if there sedentary to not starve themselves
You don't just burn calories excersizing... you burn calories when your heart beats, when you breath, when your blood circulates, when you take tests, when your trying to stay up late....
