Confused about muscle weight?

Quote  |  Reply
I am currently 161lbs and my goal for the month of Aug is to lose 6lbs.  I started at 163.4 so I have lost 2.4lbs since Aug 1.  I exercise Mon thru Fri, cardio for 30-45 min and vigorous weight lifting 20min alternating upper body 2x/week and lower body 2x/week.  I'm hoping that the number on the scale continues to decrease, but I am very worried that if I gain muscle, the scale will not move.  I hate seeing that!  I don't know why I'm so obsessed about the number, but if I continue doing what I'm doing, having a deficit of 500-1000 calories (I try to eat around 1300-1500 calories/day) am I going to continue to lose weight?

if your very very new to lifting (first couple of months) you may notice a muscle increase. but if not then it wont have any effect. when you have a deficit your body typicaly dosnt build muscle becaue it just does not have the materials(calories) but the best thing for you to do is grab a tape measurere and do that and scale because scale is a usless bugger by itself. you can have days where you are 5-6 pounds heavier even if you lost fat! so keep the scale for refernce but start using that measureing tape.
