well, yay i have lost 2 pounds so far
i am just confused though... and a bit hesitant to weigh every day. two days ago i had a moderate exercise day (well just lots and LOTS of walking) and ate a very healthy and average number of calories. when i weighed the next morning i had gained 1/2 a pound.
yesterday i did landscaping all day, (hard work!) ate well all day, but had an indian food FEAST for dinner, and ate quite a good share. considering how much ghee (evil indian butter thing) and oil is in all the food i'm sure i would've gained but I lost a pound after wieghing this morning.
happy, but confused. i'm sure that dinner would've killed me but it helped... or maybe the body is just a crazy mystery and i really should not weight every day.
thanks for any help!

Hi custard!
Don't weigh every day, it really DOES confuzzle you, and it doesn't give you an overall arch of what weight loss is really occurring. Daily fluctuations of 2-4lbs are normal, depending on food consumed, time of day, time of month (for women), etc.
My nutritionist says stick to once a week - that way you can monitor for gain, but you don't get discouraged, or confused, by the bouncing scale. It'll give you a better overall picture of your loss.
Hope this helps!

ding ding ding... we have a winner!
The body is a crazy thing. How much water you drank, how much sodium you had will often have a big temporary impact on your weight. Some exercise will help to keep the fat burning going even when you are not working out.
There are many many variations that make daily weighing somewhat confusing and can cause spikes and drops when in reality, your actual fat mass hasn't changed that much

The body has natural fluctuations from day to day. Some folks are happy weighing daily, but I find that I do better weighing once or twice a week.
thanks everyone, you all sounded very right. :) last summer when i seriously "dieted" for the first time... i was succesful, but i also weighed every day, and it did drive me a bit nuts at times. i think i will stick to twice a week, it's just so much less nerve-racking, lol.
good night
