Constant bloating? What's the cause?
I am constantly bloated. I think it's been going on for a week or two by now. It used to go down at least by morning but even in the mornings I think it's sticking out. Its not the entire stomach, it's just the lower abdomen...
I heard it could be because of increased vegetable intake? I started eating alot of veggies... and celery. How long would it take before my body adjusts?
Also could it be also caused by cottage cheese? I'm pretty sure I"m not dairy intolerant so....
I don't really eat that much salt. I'm really guessing its the veggies which is a pity because I love vegetables... I'm trying to drink alot of water but I feel like it's making me even more bloated. I feel extremely fat because of this in the mornings! I still eat normally but still gosh this is just annoying.

are you on any kind of medication, like bp pills, cuz bloating and elevated bp has been associated with hyperthyroidism
I am on a light form of bp pills (not full blown ones, ones for menopausal women) but I had it for awhile... I had some bloating on them but not all the time like this, i don't think..
If you're eating a lot of raw or very lightly cooked vegetables then that will create gas. Worst offenders are the brassica family.... cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, sprouts. To help your digestion eat slowly, drink plenty of plain fluids and take gentle exercise after eating e.g. a walk. Also, cook your vegetables a little longer so that they're easier for your digestion to break down.
so u still takin them or not?didnt understand, the thing those kind of pills with the irregularity of thyroid fns,may cause water retention,if uve been bloated for a while would recommend less salt with ur food which u said u dont eat much, and less diet soda's/soda's,and ofcourse a visist to an md.
GL
I am still taking them, but I have been taking them since May without this much bloating.
This started pretty recently so I'm wondering what's going on. I drank alot of diet sodas before this without this much bloating I think...
I think it's probably the raw veggies I've been eating. I just grab celery and carrots these days and chow down on them. or i lightly sautee them. I think I need to cook them more throughly....
Or just pure increase of veggies in general. I'm eating a high vegetable diet now because I realized I LOVE vegetables! I didn't know they could cause so much bloating... or could it be the cottage cheese?
emm, what u can do is,get to ur pr-bloating habbits, and start inducing vegetables weither row or not, this way u can track whats causing the bloating, like start with them raw,if nothing happens boil them and eat them,if nothing happens induce the cheese and so on.
this way ull be able to track the cause.
(Why would anyone 'induce' vegetables and cheese?)
Raw vegetables are difficult to digest, requiring a lot of stomach acid work to break them down. That's all that's going on here. Eat slightly fewer vegetables, eat them cooked rather than raw, chew them thoroughly and make sure you're getting plenty of other foods besides.
she would have to "induce" vegetables and cheese,to chk for the bloat reason.raw veg's has a % of lignin elemntal compostion ,she would have to track the catalyst weither polysulfide pulping or not,raw poly boiled not poly.so if just by eatfewer, and thoroughly and making sure she gets plenty of other food, wont help, would it??? :S
"Induce' means to make something happen. Did you mean 'reduce'? 'include?'
I'm sorry but I can't understand one word that you're saying....... it's complete gibberish.
induce as to introduce, and gibberish it is
Naruelle,
Citrucel. Keep your diet the way it is and try it for one week. I find it to work best in the morning and sometimes have a glass before bed. They have a Sugar Free version that tastes just as good. I guarantee it works for you.
I had citrucel 2x a day all week last week (system all sluggish)
I was bloated for 4 days and finally on friday it released. But was it worth the 4 days of misery?
Going with senna next time. That was awful.
I get awful bloating from some raw veggies, so bad that if I'm planning a night out, I stay away from broccoli bc it can ruin my whole night.
I started steaming my veggies about a month ago and havn't noticed the bloating at all...must be working, right?
I like to buy both fresh and frozen veggies together, mix them up and steam them until they are all juicy (i mix them so I don't run out of the fresh stuff for my salads). I love it and it tastes so much better then boiling them and there's no added calories without frying them. For taste, I add some salt, ginger and lemon...sometimes a ginger sauce and they are DE-LISH!
There was just an segment this morning on GMA about bloating. Dr. Oz mentioned that certain vegetables definily attribute to bloating but that additional factors such as dairy, high sodium foods and certain artificial sweetners can add to the bloat too.
Personally I've been considering doing a colon cleanse as I get started on my weigh loss. Feel like it might clean out my system so that the good healthy foods I'm actually eating will get into my system better.
I'd say if you're still bloated try some sort of cleanse or high fiber suppliment.
Good luck!
Are you eating a balanced diet with a lot of vegetables? Or are you eating mostly vegetables? By balanced diet I mean protein (from meat or other), some fat, some fruits, some whole grains. Also, are you getting enough calories.
I ask because I see from your profile that you are quite slender, and trying to get down to a really low weight, and I wonder if you are starving yourself. After all, we have all seen the horrible pictures of starving children with their little pot bellies.
I am eating pretty balanced meals I think, it's just that during a meal more than 50 percent is probably vegetables? Like today I ate a tuna salad sandwich with a side of small salad... then had cottage cheese with peaches. Kinda like that. Or yesterday I ate a bean tomato rice bowl with chicken.... ok not those days so much, but I do eat alot of vegetables in general. Like a vegetable sandwich with cheese/mayo and a salad.
I definitely been eating enough yesterday because I ate like.. 1800 calories? I didn't count yesterday. I'm not starving myself :) ... and when I did before long ago, I had a pretty flat stomach at that HAHAHAHA. I tried not eating enough before and dont really wanna go there again... I like food. and that's why I have been stuck at my weight for like 5-7 months (shrugs) I like to be healthier than focus on weight, see?
I just didn't have a bloating problem for the entire summer and now... it's constant. Just wondering what's going on. I'm thinking it's the celery.... but then again I don't eat celery every day either :/
What is citrucel? Senna doesn't work on me btw..... Steamed vegetables (broccolis or cauliflower) don't have much of an effect on me... I know because I ate ALOT of it last semester without bloating. It's not artificial sugar because I drank too much diet sodas before this to cross it off... Maybe I just need to cook my vegetables.. (which i didn't do for lunch today....... out of laziness... oops..)
I wanted to clean out my system too but i don't want to buy any colon cleansers, I guess... I bought milk of magnesia yesterday though.
Hmm, I don't know but I think my bloating reduced alot today.
I ate alot today (around 2000? I stopped counting) with around 40-60 g of fat. (some avocados and ALOT of oreo cookies today...)
Could fat REDUCE bloating?
