Constant snacking!
So I sometimes get into these funks where I am CONSTANTLY snacking. Even if it's right after a filling meal or when I'm not hungry at all. Does anyone else do this? I find that once I get into a funk of constantly snacking it's hard to get out of! I was doing so well the past couple of weeks and I'm afraid that I'm going to start putting back on all the weight that I've worked so hard to loose! I find that being a college student and starting back up in school I eat a lot more carbs like pasta and pita bread and maybe that not filling me up so I keep eating? I don't know! It's hard to find time to make decent meals. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get out of this funk?!
There are several things you could try... independently or all at the same time. First would be to remove easy snack foods from your environment. The logic is that if it isn't there you simply can't eat it. Second, make sure that your diet is well-balanced and that your calorie intake is appropriate for your age, size and level of activity.... if you're just a little undernourished (even if you're not physically hungry) that can lead to snacking. NB... a meal comprised entirely of carbohydrates is less long-lasting than one that also includes protein and fats. Boredom is a big factor... so finding other things to do with your time is going to help. And do make mealtimes an event rather than grazing or eating on the hoof.... it is important to prioritise time to make and eat meals properly, sat at a table - it means your body can register that you've eaten.
A new rule for me is if I need to snack my only choices are fruits or vegetables. I also have started drinking hot or cold tea.
The past week I've been living on constant snacks. I got sick and the doc says I need to keep my blood sugar level. That means little balanced snacks of protein and carb combos all day long.
You can look at my journal to see my "meal" plan for today. See all the little meals? I'm never hungry and I've actually lost a pound since I started doing this.
Snacks don't have to be junk.
I get into that kind of funk too...sometimes it is hormonal, and I am in an all around funk....and I have noticed it is sometimes stress related. I try to stay away from food...eat what I need to eat, then go as far away from the kitchen as I can get and do something. It is hard for me because I have a toddler who is always eating, so it is tempting to always have a handfull or two of whatever I feed her. I also find that normally I can have various snacks around, and eat them in a normal manner....and the snacks last a while...but in these funks, I can devour a week's worth of junk in a day....SIGH...I feel ya!
