Constantly fighting about frying foods
Don't get me wrong - I love fried food but I constantly watch my calories so I don't gain weight. My bf and I moved in together 2 months ago and he's ruining my figure with his cooking. He says deep frying food in olive oil doesn't add any calories. I think not! Is there anyone that can provide some calorie addition relationships so I can show him some numbers against frying foods? Like plantains and potatos... he likes to fry each of these whereas I prefer to bake them.
Reason: Moved from Health & Support to Foods
Deep-frying in olive oil doesn't add calories? So he's saying that there is no oil absorbed into the food? If so, then why is it recommended to DRAIN fried foods to absorb part of the oils?
Just show your boyfriend this article.
olive oil is not for deep frying, it starts to smoke at a lower temperature. I think I read somewhere that it can be dangerous to deep fry with olive oil.

I agree, maybe you should start preparing your meals seperately this way he can still eat the way he wants while you can cook in a more healthy option, like baking.
