In a contest with a few close friends and looking for people want to go from 140's to about 125-130....
Hello all,
I have just started a contest with a few of my closest friends to see who can loose the biggest percentage of weight by August 4th. I am going to try to go from 144 to anywhere between 125 and 130 by then. That will be about 10% or more of my current body weight. Anyone on here trying to reach the same goal, I would like to get on here and have something like weekly weigh-ins or just talking about what mini goals we met or just to vent to each other and help each other reach our goals....
Anyone who wants to have some support and motivation just let me know! I am totally ready to kick some fat cell's butt!!! :)
Is there a day you want to do weigh-ons? I will try, but, honestly, the scale scares me a bit, so I'm not sure if I will be able to hold up on that side. However, motivation for workouts and watching our food intake would definitely be helpful to me. Thanks for this post. And good luck to us!
anyone else?
Sarah
I definitely don't want to have to weigh in too often. I will feel like I am not making any headway. I was thinking maybe every other Wednesday or something. I am very flexible. I am a teacher so I have the entire summer to just try to get this weight off! Just let me know if that works for you!!
Perfect! I'm about 140lbs (5'6'') and have a goal weight of 125lbs. I gained 20lbs in the last year from binge drinking and drunchies (yay college). I just went to the store to buy a bunch of fresh fruit and veggies that I can munch on to keep calories low and fill me up. I do enjoy my larger boobs, but the stomach and thighs are just getting unattractive. I really don't want to buy new clothes, and I still don't recognize my new body... so I would like to reclaim my former self.
What is everyone's exercise and calorie intake set at? I'm trying to keep below 1300 Cal/day but know I'll get up to 1700 on some days. Exercise 5-6 days a week.
I like that weigh-in every other wednesday idea. And, yay, the summer should be the perfect amount of time to reach our goal weight! :)
Good luck!
hgraehl: When I was 125, I had a BF% test done by my dr. and my BMR was 1511, which I think (correct me if I'm wrong please, I'm just assuming) that means my sedentary cals are 1800. So I'm shooting for 1800 cals a day plus exercising 6 days a week, usually for 1 hour of cardio each day and 20-30 minutes of strength training every other day (including abs). Plus, I'm not actually sedentary as I walk or bike to and from campus everyday and try to keep myself busy (although some days I'm sure I'm closer to sedentary than I'd like.)
I'm hoping this plan will spell success for me. Right now, my challenges are logging my meals ahead of time (planning them out) and carrying my food with me (no excuses or starvation emergencies.) Going to the gym is usually not a prob for me, bt just in case somehting happens, I will fall back to a long walk int he evening and dancing ot music in my room (as a last resort.) Welcome and good luck! Let's keep each other accountable :)
I love it that there are more people wanting to join in!!!! That is fantastic!!
We can start our weigh-ins either this Wednesday or next... it can be up you all of you.
hgraehl- My calorie intake is set to 1300 a day right now. I have a 1800 cal. burn rate during the day plus my exercise plan is to go the gym 6 days a week and do an 30-45 min of cardio on the days I do the weight training and and hour on the days that I do not do the weights and ab work. My weight training is just on the machines at the gym I usually do my arms one day and my legs another or if I am feeling feisty I will do a good combo of both. :) I do my abs every day, even the days that I am not doing weights. I hope this all works. I think we should check in with each other on here everyday, or at least try to make sure that we did well on our calorie intake and that we exercised. What do you think?
Hi, I'd like to join you guys. I'm 36, 5'1" and about 141-142 (depending on the day). I'd like to get down to 120-125 as well. My goal is to work out 5 to 6 times a week. Do 45 minutes of cardio (machines or running) 6 days a week and do three Body Pump classes 3 times a week.
Let me know when the weigh in's are.
Our weigh-ins will be every other wednesday starting next wednesday the 11th. At least I hope everyone will be able to do that day and from then on.
Count me in too! I'm 146 at the moment and want to eventually get to about 125. This group is perfect.
I'm really stoked how much high water/fiber content foods fill you up with very few calories. I ate sooooo much fresh homemade soup with chicken boulleon, mushrooms, carrots, bell peppers, celery, canned tomatoes, and cabbage. When I logged the recipe an entire huge pot full was only 220 so calories! I could only eat 1/2 of the pot (and i'm a huge overeater type) until i was stuffed. So if you're looking for a way to get 1300 a day, veggies are going to be my trick. Today i'm satisfied off of 1079 which baffles me.
I can easily wolf down 1000 calories in one sitting on carbs and cheese... and take a food coma nap afterwards. Good to know I can stuff my face with fruits/veggies and not have it kill my calories for the day. Only problem is that with all the veggies I eat now, I fart a LOT. I need some OTC fart stuff now its so bad.
gettinghealthy: I do the same - ride my bike to campus. I still put sedentary in my profile so I can manually add my physical activity... I feel like I can be more accurate that way. Logging is apain, but it really helps me resist items I know i'll feel horrible about when logging (pizza, sweets, etc).
shartle81: your calorie goal is closer to mine. It is hard to consistently keep that low, especially if you want to drink any alcohol that day... but i'm hoping to stay about 1200-1300 6/7 days of the week.
Wed check ins sound great! Glad to do this with all you!
Me Me!
I started at 140ish (5'6/7") around three weeks ago, I am now 133 - my goal is 125 right now but maybe 120 depending on how i feel when (if!) I get there!! Keep my calories at around 1200 which seems to be working for me ok, and do a half hour run every morning and later in the day at least 45mins of aerobics on my dvd :) Am not much of a fan of excersise, but od not have a car so do lots and lots of walking during the day.
I am going on holiday next week to Italy and am petrified about the food there, as I won't have access to the internet to log my cals, and they have such yummy food over there!! Aaah! Any tips for someone with similar goals? I don't want to undo all my hard work in one week but want to enjoy my holiday!
Elle xxxxx
I am glad to see more of you joining in!! Welcome donisharee and elle!!!
Elle- I am sooo jealous of you going to Italy, I have always wanted to go! My advice for you is to enjoy all the wonderful food they have, but just keep reminding yourself to only eat very small portions. You can still enjoy the great taste of it, but not collect as many calories. It will be hard, I know it would for me, but use the thought of not being able to log your cals as a small motivation.
hgraehl- I dont drink but like once a month and when I do I drink Vodka and diet soda, so it is not too hard for me to keep my cals that low, except when I am craving carbs!!!! I hate carbs! They have done me in! I crave them all the time. I eat a few thinking that will satisfy the craving, but then I just want more!!! GRRR....The whole farting thing....I noticed I have been too! HAHA... my husband is a little grossed out! But I dont think that mine seem to be like yours... I dont think I need meds for it!!! :)
Hope you girls all have a great day! Keep on track and do well!!!!! Get that exercise in and think 125!!!!!!! :)
Stacy
Hi everyone! I'd like to join too ![]()
Current stats: 29yo 5'7 and floating around 140, depending on the time of the month (I usually pile on the pounds the week before, then love to watch it all come off again) Oh and my cal intake is 1700-1900, and I try and have a deficit of around 300 cals or so. I only log exercise or driving and things, so pottering about the house will use up the rest...
I live in Wales, have a 9yo daughter and I've just finished my second year at uni, I'm taking a physics degree!
Goal weight, well I'd like to reach 135ish before the end of July, I'm off to Barcelona, can't wait! and then have a cousins wedding to go to, and my brother and his mrs are coming over from LA, so I want to look my best!
I am in desperate need of a good kick up the bum to get me going to the gym again. I kinda held off a bit because I was studying hard for exams. That and I've reached my goal size to fit my ball gown for next weekend, and if I lose any more the dress will fall off! Its strapless... so maintaining until then which is my excuse for eating ice cream for breakfast this morning
(my cheerios did not give me enough cals!) oh well, it's all gone now, so no more excuses!
Good luck everyone, we can do this ![]()
Count me in too if it's okay because my goal is more around 130-135ish. I'm currently 142 lbs and 5'5. My original goal was 135, but since I'm trying to lose pregnancy weight I still have a pooch and I think that it will finally be gone once I'm between 130 and 135.
I am 5'5" and 147lbs.. My ultimate goal weight is 128. I would love to join your contest!!
I am in! It's hard when those around you don't need to diet and can maintain their weight naturally. I am 5'6" 148 trying to get to 135 by August 1. I have been holding onto that college weight for 6 years, it's time to let it all go for good.
What a wonderful idea !!! And we all seem to be around the same weight, and wanting to lose an equal amount... My weight gain started after a serious car accident, had to have spinal surgery and spent about 5 months staring at the walls ! I'm 5'2, and currently weigh 145 (YIKES !!!) My "happy" weight is around 125... can't wait to see everyone a couple months from now - we're all gonna look & feel great !!

I too have a similar goal to everyone. I am 5 ft 4 and a half inches and 140lbs. My goal is to get down to 125-130lbs. I have been exercising regularly for the past 2 months, doing a lot of cardio, eating healthier foods, staying around 1500-1700 cals/day and drinking a ton of water and I cannot seem to lose weight. I don't drink alcohol a lot or eat sweets, and from what I was told my calorie intake is ok b/c I exercise moderately. I'm starting to get frustrated and I don't want to give up just b/c I haven't seen any results yet. I'm open for suggestions, especially from women who have the same statistics and goals that I do.
Any advice???
Hi I'd like to join also, I'm 32yrs old 5ft 5 and right at 141lbs. My ultimate goal is 130lbs. I started running regulary for the past 2 months and have lost about 9lbs. Lately I've hit a platue and can't seem to move past it. Luckily I have a great support team at home that have'nt let me give up yet. Looking forward to the weigh in next Wednesday.
Hope everyone is having a successful day. I happen to be dealing with a sweet tooth... about four of them.
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
