In a contest with a few close friends and looking for people want to go from 140's to about 125-130....

I have just started a contest with a few of my closest friends to see who can loose the biggest percentage of weight by August 4th. I am going to try to go from 144 to anywhere between 125 and 130 by then. That will be about 10% or more of my current body weight. Anyone on here trying to reach the same goal, I would like to get on here and have something like weekly weigh-ins or just talking about what mini goals we met or just to vent to each other and help each other reach our goals....
Anyone who wants to have some support and motivation just let me know! I am totally ready to kick some fat cell's butt!!! :)
Hi All.... I've been doing alot of reading while gearing up for this diet, I can't attest to the validity, but an article I read said that following an exercise routine will eventually cause a plateau because your body adjusts to the consistent activities and percieves it as "normal" given calories etc... It said to change up different parts of your routine regularily to keep your metabolism from stagnating. ie; if you run frequently, try running with weights. Try running stairs as part of your routine or shorten the runs & add crunches.... It also said if you seem to be eating the same foods for a period of time, switch to different fruits, veggies, etc.. Your body also gets accustomed to repetative calories...
Don't know if this stuff will help, as I've just started and my body isn't used to ANYTHING but way too many calories, but it might be worth a try ! Let me know cuz I might hit that wall too !!

I am so hungry today, but did a long bike ride so I guess that's why. I almost got about a 5'' to 6'' diameter cookie today that looked SOO good... but I was good and resisted. It was probably 700 calories or something insane.

I am just checking in.... I had a GREAT day today... not one big craving or anything... I am under my cal. intake for the day by almost 300 and I am not even hungry. I worked out for an hour and 15 and I swam with my son for 30 min. I feel really good. I hope to see some progress when I log in my weight tomorrow!! Hope you all had great days too!!!!

I blame the salt on the crisps I ate last night. It was late, I'd had a long drive and I was hungry. Okies I'm owning it was my decision to eat them, and I made trifle yesterday too... Nevermind, today is a new day and the first step (again!) to a new me! If I go over my cals I'm going to blame an apple instead... no more junk overload yay! I've planned a walk this afternoon so all is good.

Well here we go startng weight this morning was 143... Already been out jogging, lowered my goal calories for the day and bought a new jump rope for a little something different.

My weight on this first weigh-in day is 141.5...I am down 2.5 lbs since I started my new diet and exercise routine on Sunday!!!!!
That makes me feel GREAT!!! My goal was to loose 2 lbs by this next Sunday and I have already beat that goal! I am going to shoot for 3 lbs down by Sunday now!!!

Weigh in at 136.0! W00t cause I was 140 last night. I've been eating great and exercising a whole lot. I'll probably fluctuate back up but this is very encouaging. Let's all lose 1-2 by next wed.
Here I am for the wednesday weigh in and i am 133 on the nose! Hurrah, all good news :) (when i last posted i was 133.6, but started at 140) Give me the decimals, they are moral boosting!! Hehe.

Yikes - wednesdays weigh in put me at 143... that's 2 lbs, doesn't seem like alot to get worked up over though ! I'm sure added stress is complicating matters for me too. I was in a really bad accident a year ago, I still have very serious restrictions and was informed today by my dad that he isn't going to help me from here on out. (can't return to work til all restrictions are lifted) One saving grace, I have a van with an RV package, so I can always live it it !! I managed to NOT eat even though I was stressed to the point of crying all day, so that's a good thing I suppose ! I guess it'll be easier to lose weight now that groceries are a luxury for my budget ! God never gives us more than we can handle... I think he's giving me way more credit than he should in that department !! Have to see where I'm at next wednesday, and hopefully I'll devise an acceptable plan along the way !

well my weight has not moved, still the same--and I was so hungry yesterday! I hope to lose a pound in the next few days today though I started to do 2 a day workout today.
I just had a wonderful healthy dinner (500cal) of fish and veggies after a good work out.. which I feel really great about. Now all I can think about is more food. I'm up to 1400cal today (goal is 1200-1300/day but 1400 is still good) so I don't want to eat more. I'm trying to limit carbs in my diet because they don't fill me up and just trigger me binging. I just really want peanut butter jelly sandwhich... or two or three PB&J... but will resist. It hurts to so desperately want two contradicting things... weight loss and amazing cheese, carbs, oils, and peanut butter. I can do without sweets but I do love pizza, quesidillas, calzones or garlic cheese balls from this local place, pb&j, rice-a-roni, pasta, and macaroni and cheese. I swear i'll be good tonight but I'm just venting about cravings.

I would like to join your Wednesday weigh-ins. I'm not exactly in the same weight place but pretty close...Here's my history - I weighed 206 in January and for the past 2 weeks I've held steady at 151. My end goal is 133, but if I can go down futher that would be great. I started my weight loss with a competition at work and feeling accountable to other people really, really helps me. So this would be perfect. Lately, work has been very stressful but if I can get beyond two major events in the upcoming week, I hope to be in a real good place again, where I can really focus on me and what I'm eating...I did the analysis and I am an emotional eater and really crave sweets. I can skip the chips and fried foods but find it so hard to resist ice cream, brownies or cookies(l try not to keep that stuff in the house). Lately I've been victim to sneaking in the freezer for ice cream, or even eating choc chips to get my chocolate fix. I've lost my self-control, and I want to find it again. I lost all my weight at 1500 calories per day, and will still try to target that much.
I think a support group would help me a great deal so thanks in advance for help/support/advice...My exercise routine is 4 miles (in 45 min) per day, plus about 10-15 minutes of strength training (rotate abs, arms and glutes). On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, I do an extra 30-40 minutes uphill on the highest incline level on the treadmill at a fast walking pace. I also use a Bosu ball (primarily for different tummy exercises) and use Wii Fit to do boxing.

Wednesday, June 4: Weight: 151.6
Sorry a bit late, but on Wednesday my weight was 139.6. Still holding at that number....whooo hoo...
On Wednesday I was 145. Lost seven pounds since beginning my diet about three weeks ago. The last week or so has been rough. I follow the calories but I seem to stay at the same weight.. which I guess is better than gaining. I need to exercise more and I HATE exercise. Hope everyones week is going well.
Sorry guys, I'm a bit late too. I thought we weren't going to start til the 11th. On Wed my weight was at 143. I went up 2 lbs! I've been going to the gym and running on the treadmill like crazy this week though so hopefully I'll be at 140 by the next weigh-in. Good luck to everyone!![]()
Weigh in: 138.8 :( after a night of drinking and gorging late night at t-bell.
I was 134.4 just 2 days ago, but finals and and celebrating end of finals last night apparently did me in. One more night of drinking tonight and i'm back to strict diet. Been riding my bike A LOT though.
I was 140.5 this morning. Down from 144 a week and a half ago. I feel like I am doing really well! Hope you all are doing well too!
Hi all, well yesterday I was at 140.6. Up one pound from last week. I'm none to happy, but I did have my TOM and my weight went up to 144 and now it is down to 140.6. I should be back at my regular weight by the end of the week....need to go lower. I'll shoot for a pound by next week...

I have posted in the 30's lounge that I hate exercise, but I made a decision today after some wonderful support from the ladies in there and I am signing up for a 12 week "Learn to Run" course. It doens't start until July 30, so I will have to start walking in the interim. My calorie goal is 1200, but I usually hover around 1400. (When I start running I will obviously up the calories) I need to get to the grocery store this weekend and start some meal planning. I am a daily shopper-I go after work- and I cook for 2 teenage boys and my husband. Let's just say that 3 oz of fish and some brocolli doesn't satiate their appetites.
Good luck to everyone, and wish me luck because I am going to Las Vegas in a week and that always sets me back.
