Awesome ladies! Good job on posting a contest Val!! Good luck to everyone and cant wait to see some stats on monday Laughing

Hello, I am glad to see so many joined the group.
What are your triggers? I find myself eating way more then I need to. I have portion control issues. When I am stress I have a tendency to crave junk food.. Burgers, chips and the occasional cookie binge. I am really fighting my old habits to overcome this weight problem once and for all.

I agree with Jat about dreading summer time. I haven't wore a bathing suit with pride my whole life but I have great athletic legs when I am 50 lbs lighter, (It has been along time since I have seen them.) By summer time I will be wearing cute skirts and short. I promise.

I am doing well and I can definitely feel my loss in my clothes. I want to jump on the scale so bad, but I will wait until Monday. I have dieted many times and it seems I get discouraged if I hop on the scale more then once a week. Can't wait to see how everyone did on Monday.

hey gals! i'm all more than happy for a contest!

I'm 5'3, 5'4 on a good day :)

CW: 170

GW: 150

Waist: 32

I have to do my other measurements some other day.

I would have to say that I get super into calorie counting, but then after a few months, I lose interest, or something happens in my life where I put focus on other things. I've been doing Bikram yoga for the past month, i LOVE it. I've also added going to the gym in between yoga classes.

In a few weeks I'm going on spring break. I'm looking forward to it and I hope I can find a bathing suit that looks good on me. Sticking to a 1 piece! But I want to find something that makes me feel good about myself.

This week's goal is to stick to my 1500 calories, allow myself 1 day to go a bit off (nothing crazy!) I'm also going to add a fiber pill to my daily diet, just to make sure that I don't over do it!

Oh the many triggers I have! I have finally stopped weighing myself daily since when I gain a pound over night it makes me want to throw the scale into flames- usually when this happens i feel discouraged and think 'why bother'. So far i have controlled over eating and moved on :) Mainly for me its acutally resisting the temptations around me.

I currently live around many delicious childrens treats. Cookies, cupcakes, pizza you name it, its here. So instead I bought all different kinds of thinsations. So when everyone around me is pigging out, I feel like I get to have a treat too, with no guilt. I am down about 16 pounds, no change in my clothing at all ( where I need it the most, I cant fit ANY of my jeans!! ANY!) So hopefully soon they will be able to do up and I can stop looking so frumpy!!

well after reading all these post i know i have to work hard and win...i'm the biggest of the group! i started to get really depressed when i relized this but then got to thinking...they say the smaller you are the harder it is to lose...so i guess i have the advantage Wink

Ok... first weigh in!

Drum roll please.....

146 - so thats a mainainance. Nevermind. I know where the problem lay - flat mate has been making banana cake and its a real weakness of mine!

Good luck for everybody elses! I hope the scales are your friends today!

Ok, today is the big day. It was my first week watching my caloric intake seriously, and it paid off. I lost 3.8 lbs My measurements were off from the first entry. I took my measurements wrong last week. I am a lot larger then I thought I was. Here are the more accurate measurements.

Start weight 222

3/16/09 218.2

Measurements

Good luck everyone only 46.2 lbs to go.

Good Morning Valrocks40, congrats, awesome week. Me, not so good, I had Aunt Flow in town and boy am I bloated, I only lost .6 (1/2 lb), but its still a loss.  Stayed on plan all week and didn't miss a beat on the weekend which is usually my down fall, but I made it thru, yeah. I'll catch up to you next weeek, I hope.lol. Great job, can't wait to see how everyone else does. Will check my measurement in a couple of weeks.

Celebrated my anniversary over the weekend....my husband took me to my favorite restaurant. So, I at least know why I did not loose as much as I wanted this week. But, some is better than none!

Weigh-In for 3/16

Starting Weight 221.8

Today's Weight 219.0

Lost 2.8lb

Way to go valrocks40! My trigger would have to be stress.  I am going to school and all the studying and all the things that come with being a mom and wife sometimes can get so stressful.  However, I have healthy snacks laying around instead of grabbing lots of chocolate now!  I have also learned that I have to take time for myself and focus on my health.  If I can't keep myself healthy then I can't keep my family healthy either!

Excited to see all the weight loss for this week!

Looks like it has been a great week for all! A loss is a loss no matter how low or high so congrats to everyone!!

Start Weight: 202

Current: 184

More than I had expected, I had a really busy weekend with lots of lifting and walking so I guess i burnt more calories than i expected. - helped someone move!-

Still cant do up my jeans....I tend to loose weight from my butt and my non existant breasts. . . belly is last i guess.

awesome week ladies keep it up:)

CryEmbarassed Nice job, self, for GAINING .5 for the first week of the contest! (sarcastic, snarky comment pointed at self only)

Laughing LaughingGreat job to all you who have truly stepped up to the challenge and LOST!! (no sarcasm, good-intentioned compliment to all!)  Keep up the good work!!

I did get my measurements over the weekend but forgot to bring the paper I have them written on along to work.  Will post another time.

Edit:  I have my measurements now:

bust:44, chest:38, waist(or lack thereof): 43, hips:44, midway:44, thighs:26, knees: 18, calves:16, upper arm: 14, forearm: 10.5

Possible pitfalls: less workouts this week because of other appointments: taxes, haircut, etc.  Also probably should have not eaten 2 homemade (not my home, though)  peanut butter Easter eggs!!

My worst triggers/problems are at work: sitting at my desk all blasted day, getting bored/restless/what have you in the afternoon leads to eating.  Emotional eating; stress, depression, boredom.  But I am working on the afternoon snacking issue, little by little.  Hopefully next week I will have a loss to report!

melicious15-next week will be better. Really understand that desk thing, Im at a desk all day too, I have invested in sugar free gum, and tic-tacs, all different flavors it helps keep my mouth busy and a constant flavor so I don't crave as nearly as bad, and at lunch time on the nice days, I've been taking a little walk just to get some fresh air and stretch my legs. We all have bad weeks, but a new week has come, hang in there, you can do it. Hope this helps. Smile

Wow, It is so great to see such success. One week down several more to go.

Tannis great job 4 lbs is great!

Mel .5 isn't so bad it could have been worse. You will probably lose the most next week.

Jat at least you lost this week, so did you stay on track even though you went out for dinner?

Brwn .6 isn't bad. At least you lost. Did you see Biggest Loser last week Mandi gained a lb, I suspect that she had flow too. ( love that show, It motivates me more every week.)

Thanks for the voices of support, Valrocks and brwnize!  The sugar-free gum/mints are a great idea, and one getting outside for a little walk is good advice, too.  I used to do the lunch walk-thing last spring/summer when it was nice, but I guess it sort of slipped my mind over winter.  Thanks again for the good suggestions!

wow guys! that's great! i wish i could lose 3lbs in a week!congrats!

I didn't weigh myself today, but I did measure and my waist fluctuated up 1 inch in 1 week! Wtf? I was super duper bloated on Saturday night due to a cup of coffee. I hate that. Today i'm going to the gym for some cardio and weights. I hyper extended my arm the other day because after a few drinks at a friend's place i thought it'd be a great idea to show off some of my crazy yoga poses. ppl were impressed, but the next morning my arm killed! it still hurts. oops!

When i go back to germany i want to look GREAT. This will be in the 1st week of June. I've been in the states since the end of december due to visa issues. But i want all of my friends to say how great i look!

good luck gals!

Should we have a week long goal? Like "drink at least 8 glasses of water a day" or something.

valrocks40, I love the bl, I watch it everyweek, I felt so bad for Mandi, you work your butt off(not literally but wouldn't that be niceLaughing) and you gain, ya know ya just can't fight mother nature she always wins. lol. Love getting the tips from the trainers, I'd love to have Jillian or Bob for 1 month, now that would be cool.  Everyone has done an awesome job, keep up the good work everybody.

hey jat_145 thanks for the tip on tagging this, I knew you could do it on the food log, didn't realize you could do it for topics. Thanks again, good luck in the challenge.

well i lost 2lbs this week. not too bad...right on track...

but what i want to know is what are you guys doing to pull down 3 and 4 lbs a week? give me your secret! lol

Two pounds is great 2babettermom. I am nursing. I think that might have something to do with my good loss this week. I also took the clothes off my elliptical trainer and decided to put it to its intended use.

What kind of exercise has everyone been doing?

nokapokadot I hope your arm feels better. That is a great Idea about "drink at least 8 glasses of water a day." I am definitely going to shoot for that goal.
